The Phantom of the Opera (2004)
Wonderful Movie
I first saw the musical in London in 1988. I have seen it 3 times in the states. When I saw the movie, all I can say is WOW. What a visual feast for the eyes. It's great to have music that is a throwback to the times when composers could write. From the opening scenes to the ending, I was mesmerized. I thought all the actors did a superb job. Minnie Driver was excellent, and probably deserves a supporting nomination. Christine and Raoul captured young love to a tee and Gerard Butler showed the agony of a love that was not to be. I know there will be people out there that will not agree with my opinion, but I have seen movies that critics applauded that I thought were horrible. Thanks Andrew,Joel and the actors for making a movie, that I think will stand the test of time and become a classic.
House of Cards (1990)
One of the best
I found the series at Best Buy (House of Cards, To Play the King and The Final Cut) all packaged together. I was really excited, because I think this is one of the best to come from the BBC. Ian Richardson was superb. Wicked and cunning. I watched the first installment the other night and was glued to my chair for 4 hours. I highly recommend this series.
The Thing from Another World (1951)
One of the best
This movie has it all over the remake. Thought Carpenter's was run of the mill with so-so special effects. The original was scary. You know the old saying "less is more". Come on Hollywood, let's get some of the oldies remastered and on DVD. Your missing a whole market that's out there.
With a Song in My Heart (1952)
Wonderful movie
I love this movie. Everytime I watch it, it brings a tear to my eyes. The cast is outstanding. Susan Hayward never looked more beautiful. Jane Froman's voice is wonderful. When are they going to release it on DVD? Also, how about The Adventures of Robin Hood, Love Me or Leave Me etc, etc, etc.
