Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)
To Boldly go where every other star trek movie has gone before
Believe me I'm a big time star trek fan. Seen all the movies, watched all the t.v series, got the T-shirt etc.My brother loved this and called it the best out of the ten. To me mediocre, it was just like a extended TNG episode. It's such a shame because I've grown up really caring and loving for these characters over the years. I can't believe its been 15 years? Apart from (Patrick Stewart) Jean Luc Picard who is such a brilliant actor and brings honour and conviction to his role. The other crew members just seem to be background decoration, and at times seemed bored I agree with one IMDb user who commented on them being serverly under used what was Wolf doing throughout the film. The make-up as usually was of high standard and the action scenes towards the end with the enterprise colliding with the romulan ship brilliant, but apart from that I've seen it all before, either from the t.v series or past movies. Has Star Trek pasted its sell by date? I truly hope this won't be there last mission. The trailer states final journey but I feel it shouldn't end this way. It was such bad timing for Paramount to release this so close to The Two Towers & Harry Potter being out. It has affected the box office taking drastically I noticed it's not even in the top ten.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
Wow - A true Masterpiece
I saw this movie last night at the cinema and was totally blown away. I'm a small minority who hasn't yet read the book. I can see way it's one of the top selling books of all time. Peter Jackson put his heart and great care in transforming this into a epic masterpiece. A lot more humorous and darker then FOTR. The set design is nothing like I've ever seen they look so grand and well detailed. The battle scenes simply breathtaking I can't wait for the third instalment coming out this time next year.
Men in Black II (2002)
The worst sequel ever
I'm not exaggerating here, this film was just rubbish. I'm usually very open minded when it comes to sequels. Very rarely do they match the orignal in plot and character development. I saw this with my brother and when the film ended we were tempted to ask for our money back. That has never happened to me before. This film was just rushed, I know there were problems with actor fees and constant script revision. In my opinion this film should never had been made. Don't get me wrong I loved the original. Will Smith looked bored in this the jokes weren't funny the villian beautiful but totally stupid and I've never seen such blatant advertising, the scene when the alien was eating a juicy looking Whooper with a burger king restaurant in the background. I originally saw this in America in its opening week when I got back to London I was on a mission to warn my friends to stay clear of this. I wish I got neutralised like those in the film this film sucked big time.
Dragnet (1987)
Hilariously funny, dem d dur dem durr !!!
I'm wondering whether all the other IMDb users saw the sam movie. This films hilarious especially Joe's fast talking whilst arresting the priest. It must of took him ages to perfect that scene and remember everything. I never saw the original series but I believe captain Gannon (Harry Morgan) played the same character of a officer in the 60's version.
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
The best sequel ever made !!
This is by far the best of the star wars series, with AOTC second. It was voted #16 by imdb viewers. I'm going to be bold enough to call it the greatest film ever made. The asteriod scene is my favourite with Han-solo navigating the millenium falcon with a right balance of humour and action in between. As a kid this film had always fascinated me I knew ever scene and words the actors would say and never got bored of it. when you watch it now it doesn't seem that much dated. The character developments and specail fx are brilliant. I heard best buddy Speilberg originally wanted to help lucas in this but was refused, they both went on to make the indiana Jones triologies. A question I've always been asking is why aren't any of the original triolgies ever released on DVD.
