This is my new favorite movie. I loved everything about this movie. Many people have said this movie was going to be "scary" because it was done by Tim Burton. Well that was wrong. It is not scary, but has its own unique humor. The humor is brilliant. Johnny Depp brings all his lines alive. People of all ages will love this movie. I like it better than the original. It is also much more different than the original. The characters are great. Johnny Depp pulled off a great new Willy Wonka. I like Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka, but I also love Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka. I actually believe Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka is more realistic. This man has been couped up for 15 years without talking to anyone from outside his factory. He is naturally going to have some communication issues. The whole movie is great and I am going back to see it again. If you can, definitely see it on IMAX.

The Triplets of Belleville

This is the weirdest animated film I have ever seen! The beginning of the film prepares you for the strangeness of the movie. At the beginning it opens up black and white with the Triplettes de Belleville singing when they were younger. All these really fat ladies, I mean really obese, come to the show in their limos, and with them they have their husbands or boyfriends. These men are tiny and are being drug by these women. One of these women gets out of the limo by herself and your wondering why she is by herself, and as she is walking in you see that she does have a man, and he is stuck between her butt cheeks. Yeah that's right, that's just a taste of how weird it is.
There is no talking between the main characters in the movie. Any talking that does take place is on a TV screen or radio, and that is all in French. This is very effective though because the characters have lots of emotion in how there were drawn, and you can still follow the movie without any trouble.
The animation is superb. Everything is drawn so well. Each character is unique and they have a certain feeling to them. All the characters are somewhat exaggerated. They are really fat, skinny, over muscular, or square. This gives some neat humor to it. I like the colors they used to. It was sort of dark, it wasn't overly bright.
Unlike many new animated films today, this one is original. I've never seen anything like it. It's not your typical prince saves princess, or animal saves an animal. This animated movie has its own different story.
The last thing that I LOVED about it was the music. I loved the opening song that the Triplettes sing. The music throughout it is cool.

Good kid movie

Overall I thought it was a good movie to see on TV. I wouldn't rent it or see it in theaters. The acting was disappointing. I thought Jason Isaacs portrayed Hook well. The children's acting seemed a little overdone. You could tell they were trying to act, but I guess that comes with inexperience. The children casted haven't been in many movies. Tink had more experience in movies than Jeremy Sumpter, although I do think he did an exceptional job at being Peter. This was more the quality of a TV mini-series instead of a blockbuster hit. I also didn't like how everything was so artificial looking compared to the movie "Hook", but if you think about it it was originally a play and would have looked artificial. I guess it is all in your preference. One thing I did like about it though was how it was dark. It had a darker feeling than any other Peter Pan movies or cartoons that I've seen. Over all it is a good children's movie, but if you want something more mature go see "Finding Neverland." You can find superb acting there.

Excellent Fantasy Movie

This is a great movie. It isn't your typical same alien vs. human movie where there is blood everywhere, and the humans win right before they've thought it was the end. It is much more interesting. The story has love vs. evil in a whole new way, and there's a lesson to be learned through it.
Honestly, I didn't really care about the plot all that much. The imagination and creativity is awesome! I love the colors and the ideas they came up with, especially how the design of the city. The futuristic clothing is cool too. The only thing I was disappointed in was the enemy aliens. They looked a little too artificial.
My favorite thing about the whole movie was the music. It went from techno to opera to jazz, and to all over. I loved the music, partially because they used Engima and Vangelis. Many people are like, "what the heck was that?" when they hear the music, but it fits the movie perfectly and leaves you with a feeling more than a theme. I like the randomness of the music, it works well with the quirkiness of the movie.

Great Acting, Great Mini Stories, Never Ending

I thought the movie had great characters and everyone performed well. The characters were all unique and had a mystical era to them. After the first few characters were introduced I was interested in who Mr. Bloom would meet next.
I liked the mini-stories, but I fealt like they caused the film to go on and on. There wasn't ever a real climax. This seemed to make the movie drag and you couldn't tell when it was coming to an end.
I was a little disappointed with the music because lots of it was derived from "Edward Scissorhands." Music helps make the mood of the movie. The music fits to it, but when I hear it, it reminds me of Edward Scissorhands, which isn't Big Fish. I thought it should have had its own original music.
