The Late-60's Were a Crazy Time
7 October 2022
Here lie the origins of our beloved 'The Brady Bunch'. Sure, 'Yours, Mine & Ours' was released first in 1968 and was a box office smash, but this one... this one is bettah. Brian Keith was HAWT and the title of the film is weird. Also, look for George Carlin, Jamie Farr and Sam the Butchah. I also now realize Old English Sheepdogs appear in most family-friendly movies of the late 60s, and this guy is named Calico (which is dumb) but brings the famblee together. I also realize it was Doris Day's last film, but she was before my time and didn't realize her cultural influence until recently. Anyway, did I mention Brian Keith appears shirtless many times?

Scared Topless (2015 TV Movie)

Hysterical Sexy Horror Romp
16 October 2021
This film is a blast! Just sit back and let it unfold, and you'll be transported back to a time when you were a young idiot, searching for something different - something silly, supernatural, and sexy! For all it's 'winks' and self-realization, there is an interesting story here - for real. I actually appreciate the plot, pacing and title. Reminds one of classic B-grade horror/comedy/musical films from yesteryear; 'Scared to Death' (1947) and 'Scared Stiff' (1953) which should be the name of the sequel to 'Scared Topless' if you think about it. Anyway, if you're reading this, trust me! It's a lot of fun! Have a laugh, perfect for Halloweenie!

Hysterical Soft Porn Comedy

This film is a hysterical sexy romp, (with SHARKS)! That is so ridiculous, fun and silly. It's a rare treat and harkens back to the days of a 1960s drive-in, but in the 21st Century. A real fun time, especially with a group of friends after late-nite shennanigans! Or even alone! You'll thank me for recommending, because it's FUN!

V (1984–1985)

Eighties TV Camp Classic
28 August 2004
Premiering in the Fall of 1984 (NBC, Oct.26, Fri 8-9p), just a few months after the mini-series sequel, 'V - The Final Battle', 'V' was now in the form of a weekly hour long sci-fi/action/adventure series.

In mid-season, (Feb. 1985), NBC re-vamped the sci-fi/soap opera, and moved it to a later time slot, yet it did little to save this embarrassment; any resemblance to Kenneth Johnson's original 1983 classic had been vaporized.

The most expensive and violent show on television at the time, 'V - The Series' was a critical and ratings disaster that will leave the viewer bewildered and in disbelief, yet strangely mesmerized.

Unintentionally hilarious and incredibly 80's, all nineteen episodes have a unique inane charm and many memorable moments. Every episode will entrance the viewer, largely based on sloppiness and the over-abundance of flaws.

True camp that's super-melodramatic and very funny, be on the lookout for 'Oswald', the (alien, or 'gaylien') gay-stock character, debuting in episode fifteen.

Quite possibly the worst sci-fi series, if not series, ever produced, one cannot help but to enjoy this train wreck.

Classic Eighties Television

The sequel to Kenneth Johnson's 1983 sci-fi classic, 'V', aired over three consecutive nights on NBC, in May 1984. An unintentional comedy, Johnson had disassociated himself early on in production, but had laid the groundwork to continue the alien invasion story.

Based on the critical and ratings success of the original, NBC rushed this mini-series, and it clearly shows in every facet; the dialogue is laughable, the special effects terrible, and even the soundtrack is weak.

Relying heavily on action, melodrama and pure silliness, 'VFB' is a bloated disappointment if viewed seriously. Otherwise, it's eighties television at it's best,(or worst), highly entertaining and lots of fun.

V (1983)

Classic Science Fiction Television

Considered by many to be one of the best in the genre, V is a television classic.

Airing during 'May Sweeps' on NBC over two nights, the mini-series was a surprise ratings smash. Critically praised for it's introspective tale with strong themes, the special effects were top-notch, particularly for television of the time.

NBC had taken a gamble with this cutting-edge, creative, and creepy alien-invasion story that pays off in some memorable performances from members of the large cast.

Twenty-plus years later, Kenneth Johnson's epic V holds up extremely well, it's message of resistance and sacrifice being ever more relevant in this Post- 9/11 world.
