The Ref (1994)
VERY FUNNY!!
Just saying that I love this film. The atmosphere, The performances and writing are hysterical. I watch it every Christmas. Had some friends watch it with me and all had to have it on DVD. Just cracks me up. I will have to over look Spacey now . But I wont let that ruin my enjoyment of this film.
The Rain (2018)
First episode stunk. Second I became interested
I enjoyed the first season . I watched it in 2 days so yes I didn't like the first episode. The kids failure to notice things were a bit off and decided to ignore their mother to stay inside caused her death. Stupid kids.
Gave episode 2 a try and didn't stop until the 1st season was finished Looking forward to season 2.
San Andreas Quake (2015)
Time I will never get back
All I can say is what a bad movie this is. The second thing is who ever the casting director is Should find a new carrier. Perhaps as Fast food manager. Enough said. run from this film as fast as you can. The elderly couple was so pathetic. Reminded me of the couple from the first Poseidon film But Shelly winters and Redd Buttons were at least likable. I was actually rutting for the quake to swallow them all in the end. You could so much tell where they had to do a retake but did not reset the scene. And When The wife offered her husband burnt toast she didn't notice perfectly toasted toast right next to her. I have seen some bad films Yet this one is among the top ten.
Waterborne (2005)
I felt this film should have been in more in the realm of a documentary type of film. That delves into the fear from the 911 disaster
I, as a witness to the world Trade disaster. I felt very emotionally evolved in this film. I guess I didn't notice the cinematography problems some have commented on. I saw the reality of what can manifest out of the suspicion of innocent people just because they look and act in a different way than most of us expect. As Americans we hardly look inside of ourselves, Perhaps the reality of one of us harming innocent people is hard to except. So we force the blame on what we do not understand about others and strike out against them.I Feel this film is entirely underrated. It should be seen by all of us as Americans. We have to realize that there is good and bad in all. I don't understand why we expect the bad before all.
Dead Men Walking (2005)
Huge Huge waste of time money and film
This is the worst attempt at film-making I have ever wasted my money to see. Were the directors on crack or not paying attention to what was going on in front of them? They had a great plot and misused any potential. Like the last comment posted I love low budget horror films. But give me a break. It was close to a bad comedy. A repeat of clichés even the "Night Of The Living Dead" ending.(Also used in "The Cabin" I thought that was bad enough) These people topped that and should be embarrassed. Griff Furst or Brick Firestone. They both were listed playing Johnny was the only decent thing in this nightmare. If you could even call It that. The film wasn't even entertaining. I went to the last scene Just to make it go away. Then a friend came over and wanted to see it. Well He now thinks I have lost my taste in picking movies, Sorry Robert.
The Go-Between (1971)
Victorian drama of the best kind. Sex ,Greed and Julie Christie. What a fantastic recipe!
I loved this film. I am very upset it hasn't been put on DVD in NorthAmerican Format. It is well done and a true classic. Filmed in one of the most historic estates in England. Most of it is in complete ruin. The film opens with shots of the mansion as abandoned with rotting curtains blowing from windows that have long been broken. A grown man recalls his youth in the old mansion when it was filled with wealth and fashionable inhabitants. His part of the past was to deliver messages between two lovers that could bring great scandal if the details of there trysts were exposed until one of the letters is taken from his hand by the grand Dame of the house. The rest you will have to discover for yourself. Find the book if you can't find a copy of the film, It is well worth it.
