La graine et le mulet (2007)
The Worst french film of the year
How can this possibly be the "best french film of the year"? I saw this at Gothenburg Film Festival and man that was one of the most boring 150 minutes I've ever experienced! Every scene should have been like five minutes long, instead of 20 minutes per scene. We get the concept, and everything is so predictable. I felt ill during the last scene where someone steps up and do some sick belly dance in 50 minutes, at the same time an old man is chasing his stolen motorbike. I was just about to exit the theater when suddenly the end credits rolled. That could have been the first time I exited a theater without watching a movie until the end credits. It was that boring. Stay away from this one as far as you can!
I Am Legend (2007)
Crappy remake of "28 weeks later".
(before saying anything, my English can be pretty bad since English is not my primary language.)
After seeing this movie, I was beginning to wondering how the producers were thinking while they did this movie. So I'm gonna start now, my own thoughts, from idea to production:
Two producers was at home, watching "28 weeks later", then they realize: "What a great movie! We should do something like this!". They pull out their savings box and discovers they have 20 million bucks to use. And this is how their spent their budget:
90% to Will Smith. 9% to closing Manhattan. 1% to the rest.
And what is that one percent? That's the film editor who sat in his basement for 30 days, desperately trying to animate monsters during his 30 day trial period for the software he was using because the producers didn't have enough money to buy a full version. And they didn't even have enough money to hire extras as zombies.
But then something happened, they managed to get a hold of some extra money, so what do they do? They hire another actress to support Will Smith and they hire a dog! Very clever!
And then the movie opened and the movie got a profit for about 20 million dollars.
And what happens next? The producers are watching "Heroes", and then they say "Let's make another one!", so they ask Will Smith to be in a new movie called "Hancock", and what they are doing now, no one knows!
Stay away from this movie.
Go watch "28 weeks later" instead.
Take the Bridge (2006)
Go see this if you get the chance!
I saw this in the international film festival in Gothenburg. It was great! Four people attempt individually to commit suicide but they fail and they all meet up in the hospital and by coincidence they discover that they all attempted to commit suicide at the same time and the same neighborhood.
It was great one! Great environment and within a budget of under one million dollar they did it quite well. Sergio was at the viewing also to answer some questions about the movie afterward. Although the movie was purely fictional it felt to me as it was realistic and based on real-life events.
Although Sergio M. Castilla grew up in Chile and there were much suicides around him, this was pretty realistic.
Go see this if you get the chance!
Irene Huss: Tatuerad torso (2007)
Not good, neither bad.
Just watched it today, so what can I say? It wasn't good, it wasn't bad, but so far this one is the best Swedish crime-movie so far. The movie begins with the most basic stuff you can find in any other movie, a woman is out with her dog, the dog finds a corpse, the investigators starts with the case, chit-chat with the coroner and so on. The first part of movie is essentially basic and boring stuff, but the good part comes later in the movie. The last part was VERY predictable, but since i'm not going into some spoilers I won't tell anything.
And as for the production: the production was horrible. You could see some reflections of the cameramen in some scenes, low-quality sound and the screen format was terrible. I don't know if I should say that normal films are played in wide-screen but this one was like, 4:3. So the experience of watching this movie was terrible. The budget was very high, as I've heard to be one of the Swedish movies with the highest budget so far, but since there will be six other movies you couldn't notice anything.
But as the result, I can only give a five out of ten. The story was good and it was actually pretty thrilling at the end, but if I would rate the production, I'd give it a three out of ten.
cheers!
Rush Hour 3 (2007)
The best of them all!
I just have to say this, even though many follow-ups are mostly bad, this isn't. I think this one is the best of them all! The humor is twice as better, the action is twice is better, the story is twice as better, and last but not least, the movie is twice as better! Go to the theater, watch this movie together with the audience and I can assure you that you won't be disappointed! Although I watched this with a pretty messy audience so the security guards had to come in and watch them sometimes during the movie so they could be quiet when you should be. But who cares? I was nervous about watching the movie but when the movie began I didn't care about them. Let them laugh and have their funny moment.
I really enjoyed this movie and so will you! Jackie Chan-fans and Rush Hour-fans will be pleased!
Dexter (2006)
I can't wait for more!
So I've seen all 12 episodes now and all I can say is after I saw the last episode I left the living room with a big smile.
I'd never thought a show like this could possibly be this good. It was pretty hard to being obsessed after the first episodes but after about episode five you just can't wait for more. I really enjoyed Dexter. The last episode I was all "How is this going to end?" and keep asking myself of how this thing is going to be ended in fifty minutes.
I'm not gonna spoil anything but Dexter is a really great show and I really wished there were more episodes in the first season and Michael Hall is a great actor and Dexter is a great character and the way he manages to make up great lies.
Anyway, this deserves so many Golden Globes you couldn't even imagine. A really great TV-show! =D
The Godfather (1972)
Bad, really really bad!
Okay, so I've seen this now and I began asking myself, how could this movie possibly end up on 1st place at IMDb and how come everyone loves this movie? I've seen this and, it's horrible. I fell asleep after watching two hours of this. This and Pirates of the Caribbean is the only movies I've fallen asleep to, seriously, and yet it's so unrealistic, like when Don Corleone is out buying fruits he gets shot like eleven times and still survives. You would die after two shots from those types of guns also.
Go see Donnie Brasco if you like gangster movies. This is bad, really BAD!
CSI: NY (2004)
Better than CSI: Las Vegas!
All I can say is WOW! I can't stop watching this show! Many of you guys don't agree with of what I say that CSI:NY is better than Las Vegas and trust me, it is. I've seen four seasons of CSI Las Vegas and so far CSI:NY is much better than CSI:Las Vegas.
This spin-off is much more modern and there is always something special with the cases. Las Vegas is just the basic murder-investigation-interrogation-revelation, but this is something more. It's much more easier to hang on to and it's more fast-paced episodes. You can't just get enough of CSI:NY. Gary Sinise and others are all brilliant actors!
I can't wait to see more episodes!
Saw III (2006)
Great movie!
This movie is as equal as good as the previous two Saw-movies! I loved this one! I just can't wait for it to be released on a DVD because I gotta see it again. This movie totally kicks @$$.
Very thrilling and this movie is what I thought Saw II was about, now Jeff is walking through a maze and Jigsaw is so clever as he always have been. I went to the theater with low expectations because the newspaper reviewed it and they said it was a really really bad movie but when I came out I finally understood why they gave it so bad review. The main reason may be that they haven't seen the two first movies. Trust me, if you are going to see Saw III you have to watch the previous two Saw-movies, no exceptions. If you go watch Saw III without you've seen any else movies you are a completely idiot, you won't understand anything of it, I promise, nothing if you haven't seen any Saw-movies.
As for those who already seen Saw and Saw II, go see this! You will be pleased! Not as disgusting as the previous movies. =)
You could almost say that the Saw-trilogy is a thrilling episode of TV-series "24" or special-episodes of "CSI". =)
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)
Borat? The funniest movie ever? No thanks.
Borat is a really really fun movie. I'd pretty recommend it BUT I've read that this is "The funniest movie ever" which I DON'T agree on. "Airplane" is a much funnier movie. Borat is very controversial and starts uproar in the press. Very disgusting.
In difference with "Airplane", almost everyone can watch it, in Borat, not everyone could see it. Of course, they could but as I said, very controversial and many people may find the contents offensive for ethnic groups.
The beginning of the movie was hilarious but when it comes for them to sleep over at a Jewish family they walked very far across the line.
Borat? No thanks. Airplane? Yes, please.
Midsomer Murders (1997)
The best crime show and British show EVER!
This is by far the best criminal TV show! I love watching Midsomer Murders and John Nettles makes an excellent job as Tom Barnaby! But if all those stories were true, all inhabitants in Midsomer would probably die of being murdered or executed for being a murder. If Midsomer Murders will be released in DVD I will without a doubt buy it!! I watch some other British television shows and I can say that this is the BEST British television show ever and the best crime show! (Excuse me if I did some misspelling)
I haven't watched the whole series as it started in 1997 but I started watching it as it were in Swedish television one year ago. (the summer 2004)
24 (2001)
The best TV-show ever created!
At first I thought that this was just a show, like other shows. My brothers used to watch 24 and sometimes I slipped thru the TV room as they watched 24 and I only thought Okay. Then at last I watched the last episode of the first season and it was hilarious good! Then I was angry on myself that I didn't watch from beginning to end.
But as the second season started I was stucked in front of my television. I couldn't miss any episode of 24! Now I've watched all four seasons and 24 is my favorite TV show now and I love it! The actors are almost too good to be true! Everything seems so real! You can't get any better TV show than this! I have season one, two and three on DVD and I'm going to buy season four as soon as it arrives to our country. (I'm non-US) Nothing, I mean nothing, will ever beat 24! Not even Lost or Candid Camera! LoeL. (LOEL=Laughing out extra loud)
Trust me, if you watch all seasons, you will do as Jack Bauer (but in a different way), race against the clock for nothing. :-)
