Sinbad: Where U Been? (2010)
Hilarious!
The only other Sinbad special I had seen was Afros and Bellbottoms, and thought it was funny, but nothing over the top. I watched this special on Comedy Central, and frankly there were times when I was in the floor crying from laughter. Sinbad brought his A game, in my opinion.
Also, his ability to not use blue comedy is outstanding. I think the only curse word I heard was Hell. In an age where every other comic has to use every dirty word in the book, Sinbad rocked it like Bill Cosby. Bravo sir. I recommend anyone of any age or race watch this special. I doubt it will let you down. And Sinbad rocking out on the guitar was also pretty funny to see. Go get em'!
Brüno (2009)
Where Borat shined, Bruno failed.
After seeing Borat, and becoming a huge fan, my girlfriend and a few friends decided to go see Bruno. We thought there would be comedy similar to the trailer. Boy were we wrong...
First off, there is so much male frontal nudity, I was honestly speechless. To think that this was rated "R" and not "NC-17", I feel is a joke. In the first ten minutes, I was ready to get up and walk out. It was just disgusting. It wasn't even shock comedy, or rude, or vulgar, but just trash. There were a few moments that were pretty funny, but they were far and few between.
Also, he pretty much just comedy the plot of Borat, and made him into an over eccentric homosexual. I am a Democrat and a Christian (Baptist) and do not mind the mocking of others, nor religions, but the amount of graphic sexual content is what pushed me away from this movie. It was something a 13 year old pervert or deviant would find funny. That fact that I wasted $20 for tickets to see this trash (and yes, it's the first time I've ever called a movie trash, just because it was purely disgusting) still makes me angry.
If you want to see offensive, without the anal, oral, and other "over the top" material, go rent some George Carlin or Bob Saget stand ups.
