Mark Wahlberg revealed on “The Tonight Show” this week that his transformation diet for the new faith-based drama “Stu” resulted in eating 11,000 calories a day for two weeks, up from the 7,000 calories he was consuming each day for two previous weeks. “Stu” marks the feature directorial debut of Rosalind Ross, who also penned the script. The film is based on the true story of Rev. Stuart Long, who was a boxer before becoming a priest.
“Unfortunately, I had to consume, for two weeks, 7,000 calories, and then for another two weeks, 11,000 calories. And it was fun for about an hour,” Wahlberg said. “It’s such a hard, physical thing to do. Losing weight, you just kind of tough it out, you just don’t eat, and exercise. And this, even when you’re full, I would wake up after a meal and have another meal. I was eating every three hours.

"Part of me wants to know what's going on. Part of me doesn't..." Netflix has released the first trailer for an indie dark comedy titled Sun Dogs, the feature directorial debut of actress Jennifer Morrison. The film premiered at a few smaller film festivals last year, and it will be available on Netflix this April. Sun Dogs is about a young, emotionally unbalanced man from a small town, played by Michael Angarano, who wants to become a soldier to "save lives", fueled by the belief that Al-Qaeda terrorists might be operating in his neighborhood. Melissa Benoist co-stars as his friend Tally, and the full cast includes Allison Janney, Ed O'Neill, Xzibit, Jennifer Morrison, Eric Christian Olsen, J.R. Ramirez, and Niko Nicotera. This looks funky and weird and somewhat amusing, might be an original American indie comedy worth a watch. Here's the first official trailer (+ promo poster) for Jennifer Morrison's Sun Dogs,...

"My daddy used to sing me a song..." FilmRise has debuted the first official trailer for a small town indie thriller titled Let Me Make You a Martyr, from filmmakers Corey Asraf & John Swab. There’s a lot more to Corey Asraf and John Swab‘s debut feature Let Me Make You a Martyr than meets the eye. It looks like your run-of-the-mill revenge thriller with its prodigal son (Niko Nicotera‘s Drew Glass) returning home after an extended stay away to right the wrongs of the past. His adoptive father Larry (Mark Boone Junior) is a drug supplier, sex trade entrepreneur, and who knows what other heinous crimes that set up whatever unknown incident happened to fracture their relationship—something neither can come back from without the other being dead. But before Drew can set things straight and escape this Oklahoma town for good, he must also find his adopted sister and one true love June (Sam Quartin). Without her the rest is meaningless.
We infer it was systemic abuse and exploitation that turned Drew against his father. Why else would a guy...

Marilyn Manson is best known as the frontman of the Marilyn Manson band, whose music garnered much controversy from politicians and the public for their nihilistic lyrics, graphic imagery, and provocative statements. Manson got tied up in the aftermath of the deadly Columbine shooting when he was blamed by politicians and the media for inciting the violence with his music. Manson has appeared in many films including David Lynch’s “Lost Highway,” Michael Moore’s “Bowling For Columbine,” in which he discussed the media’s interest in scapegoating rather than focusing on broader societal issues, and a recurring role on FX’s “Sons of Anarchy.”
Mark Boone Junior is best known for his role on “Sons of Anarchy,” along with his performances in Christopher Nolan’s “Memento” and “Batman Begins,” Terrence Malick’s “The Thin Red Line,” and David Fincher’s “Seven.” He will soon appear in Nate Parker’s “The Birth of a Nation,” about Nat Turner, the leader of a slave rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia in 1831.
“Let Me Make You a Martyr” will premiere at Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal next month. Manson will be in attendance.

Marilyn Manson is virtually unrecognizable as a troubled hit man in Let Me Make You a Martyr, a film that looks and sounds like an instant indie crime classic. A cerebral revenge film about two adopted siblings who fall in love, and hatch a plan to kill their abusive father, the film looks to be a throwback to crime films of the 90s.

For the first time since September 2008, fans of Sons of Anarchy now have nothing to look forward to. Though creator Kurt Sutter remains open to the idea of exploring more of the club’s world, whether it’s through a miniseries about the First 9 or a spin-off centered around the Mayans, Sons of Anarchy as we know it is over, and the tale of Jax Teller is definitively concluded.
While Sutter has moved his focus to his upcoming series The Bastard Executioner, his former cast has already stacked their futures up with enough roles in film and television to keep them busy for years to come.

Spend close to 20 hours on location and set with the cast and crew of Sons of Anarchy, and you learn a few fun facts. EW's recent cover story (read it online) reveals some of them: among the objects in Charlie Hunnam's backpack is a marijuana grinder; Katey Sagal is happy to talk about Justin Theroux's jogging attire on The Leftovers. Here are 34 other things gleaned from EW's September visit. In The Makeup Trailer • When you catch Tommy Flanagan (Chibs) singing "Hurt" on his way in at 6:30 a.m., it's definitely the Johnny Cash version. "Of course, the Johnny Cash version,...

If you haven’t watched Sons of Anarchy’s season 7 premiere, stop reading now. If you have, you’ve probably found yourself wondering about the actor who played Chris Dun, the Lin Triad member Gemma framed for Tara’s murder. It’s the first and only appearance for 32-year-old Tim Park on the show, but it sets the final season in motion. Not that he knew that when he landed the part.
He was just finishing up a recurring, non-speaking role as a member of the Yakuza on HBO’s True Blood when his agent sent him an email about auditioning for Sons.

Two weeks from today, Sons of Anarchy’s final ride begins. We’ve already seen a shot of Charlie Hunnam and Marilyn Manson in the Sept. 9 season premiere; now FX has released more images. Above, a not-at-all awkward shot of Jax (Hunnam) with Gemma (Katey Sagal), the mother he doesn’t know killed his wife, and Wendy (Drea de Matteo), his ex who checks herself out of rehab early and wants to help out with the boys.
Of course, that encounter is still preferable to the one Jax has at the start of the season premiere when he’s being held in jail.

In the Sept. 9 premiere of Sons of Anarchy’s final season, a vengeful Jax (Charlie Hunnam) tells his brothers, “For me to move forward with all the things we now have to do, I need to know this table has no doubts, no mistrust, that every single one of you would kill or die for the man next to him.” With FX’s marketing campaign centered on Jax morphing into the Reaper, fans anticipate a high body count on the first front by season seven’s end (and they would be right).

Comic-Con International has released the schedule for Sunday July 27th. This is the last day of Comic-Con, and they will be closing it out with some big TV panels like Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy and The Strain. There's also a panel for the Batkid documentary that was made. I rarely stay for the whole convention on Sunday, but I think I actually might try to stick around this year and enjoy myself. You can go through the full schedule here, but you'll find some of the highlights listed below.
Supernatural Special Video Presentation and Q&A - Series stars Jared Padalecki (Friday the 13th [2009]), Jensen Ackles (My Bloody Valentine 3D), Misha Collins (Ringer), and Mark A. Sheppard (Battlestar Galactica), along with executive producer Jeremy Carver (U.S. version of Being Human), return to Hall H to answer questions from the audience about what's in store...

Watching James DeMonaco’s first Purge film was something of an anticlimax for me. The trailer’s depiction of Purge night had been such a delicious one – America’s streets dancing with a gleefully tooled-up population exacting bloody vengeance for tolerating 364 days of neighbourly behaviour– but the film never delivered on its vicious promise. And it inexcusably wasted Lena Headey. I enjoyed the squirming claustrophobia of the locked down family, the breakdown in community spirit and the comeuppance of Ethan Hawke’s materialistic salesman dad James while simultaneously longing to see what was happening outside. To shove the entire Sandin family aside – intruder and all – so I could curl up in front of the rolling Purge coverage on their big screen and enjoy the guilty pleasure I’d actually come to see.
My enthusiasm for the prospect of The Purge: Anarchy is the prospect of that trashy viewing experience being realised.

Nicotera has recurred for the past two seasons on the Kurt Sutter-created biker drama as Samcro member Ratboy Skogstrom. Real-life Hells Angels member Labrava plays Happy, who in Season 6 became Sergeant-at-Arms for the mother chapter of the club. Sons Of Anarchy is FX’s highest-rated series ever, and the Season 6 closer scored a season-finale record with 5.2 million viewers. Just when it looked like things were headed in the right direction, it all fell apart on "Sons of Anarchy." After Jax (Charlie Hunnam) finally came to terms with his misdeeds in leading Samcro, and the beginning of the club's rebuilding effort, the president's personal life took a sharp turn.
Viewers have seen that Tara (Maggie Siff) plans to divorce Jax and gets her kids away from Charming, into the custody of Wendy (Drea de Matteo) if needed. The biggest obstacle in the way of that has always been Gemma (Katey Sagal). There's no way she'd just let someone take her grandchildren away.
As it turns out, she won't have much of a choice. Tara has been learning from Gemma for years and finally put those tricks to use, faking an attack from Gemma that makes it seem like it caused her to have a miscarriage, after the supposed revelation...
