If you’ve ever fumbled through a dusty old deck of tarot cards, hoping they’d reveal something about your future, Tarot (2024) might just make you think twice before you shuffle again. This horror flick, helmed by first-timers Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg, deals a hand that’s both terrifying and delightfully over-the-top. The film taps into the old-school charm of supernatural slashers, where a group of friends find themselves in a deadly game of cosmic consequences.

Horror movies can grow from any place. That’s one of the most exciting aspects of the genre – any idea can become scary as hell in the right hands. With flicks like Ouija: Origin of Evil and Annabelle: Creation surprising audiences, it’s not unreasonable to find great hits from even thin concepts. Tarot, the latest Sony and Screen Gems horror film, seeks to replicate this success. Unfortunately, despite great creature designs, Tarot stumbles over its own feet at every opportunity. The result is not only frustrating but an absolute slog.

A Man in Full is highly entertaining, which should be no surprise. The series is an adaptation from David E. Kelley, the brilliant mind behind Ally McBeal, Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer, and HBO’s Big Little Lies. Kelley has been in the thick of television since the days of Doogie Howser, M.D.
Kelley brings his signature brand of strong characters, a blend of genres, and sharp dialogue that you need to figure out just how deep the cut goes. The bench of actors is deep (and the likes of directors Regina King and Thomas Schlamme) with stars Jeff Daniels and Bill Camp, who turn the whip-smart and clever wordplay into instantly memorable lines that stay with the viewer long after the episode is over.
You wish A Man in Full had taken the time to develop the highly ambitious source material into something that better reflects modern societal dilemmas.

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Entering the conversation in 2023 were the streamers, such as Apple, who have also realized the necessity of theatrical to eventize their movies. The financial data pulled together here for Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament is culled by seasoned and trusted sources.

The sci-fi thriller M3GAN (read our review Here, get a copy Here) was such a financial success when it reached theatres in January of last year, it didn’t even take Universal Pictures and production companies Blumhouse and Atomic Monster two weeks to announce that they’d be re-teaming for a sequel. We’ve known that M3GAN stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will be reprising their roles in M3GAN 2.0, which is set to reach theatres on May 16, 2025, and now Deadline reports that they’re being joined in the cast by Ivanna Sakhno, who is said to have landed a major part in the sequel.
Sakhno’s previous credits include Ivan the Powerful, Can’t Take It Back, The Body Tree, Pacific Rim: Uprising, The Spy Who Dumped Me, High Fidelity, Let It Snow, The Reunion, and the Star Wars series Ahsoka. Details on the character she’ll be playing...

Blumhouse is bringing killer doll M3GAN back to the screen in M3GAN 2.0 in 2025, and Deadline reports today that Ivanna Sakhno has signed on to star.
Ivanna Sakhno is said to have a “major role” in the upcoming sequel.
The follow-up from Universal and Blumhouse will release in theaters on May 16, 2025.
Allison Williams and Violet McGraw are back for the sequel, with Akela Cooper (Malignant, M3GAN) once again writing the script and James Wan on board to produce.
Spoiler Warning: M3GAN ends with the titular doll being destroyed, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned from the Child’s Play franchise it’s that killer dolls can never truly be killed!

Arachnophobia has been labeled a 90s classic in the eyes of horror fans. Not only does it have a perfect execution of spine-chilling horror, but it also manages to balance it with excellent comedy. Considering just how iconic the film was, many were concerned when it was announced that the film would be getting a remake.
A stil from Arachnophobia
However, since James Wan will be heading the project, their worries have been put at ease. The director has an impressive track record with horror, having been behind projects like The Conjuring series, The Nun films, Annabelle, and Saw.
Reminiscing back to the original movie, Jeff Daniels, who played the role of Dr. Ross Jennings, talked about his experience working on the original film.

Netflix giveth, and Netflix taketh away! Here we go again.
Can you believe we're already nearing the end of April? That means May is on the way — and summer is right around the corner. Here's hoping all these April showers do, indeed, turn into May flowers and bring on a pleasant spring. But while spring is often a season of new beginnings, it's time to say goodbye to several great titles that are currently streaming on Netflix but won't be around much longer. As always, there's a chance these movies and TV shows will return someday. For now, though, they're saying bye-bye. So act fast!
Below, I've highlighted some of the great titles you might want to watch Asap. The full list of titles leaving the service awaits you at the bottom. Let's get to it!

Officially announced by Blumhouse and Lionsgate earlier this month, a reboot of The Blair Witch Project is currently in the works, which will be the third follow-up to the original found footage horror classic that changed the game back in 1999. In the wake of the announcement, the original creators and stars have each issued joint statements this weekend.
The Blair Witch Project was created by filmmakers Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez – along with Haxan Films creative partners Gregg Hale, Robin Cowie and Michael Monello – back in the 1990s, with stars Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams, and Joshua Leonard heading out into the woods of Maryland to conjure up horror magic together.
The actors largely improvised their performances and even used their real names in the movie, with the film’s clever viral marketing campaign leading many to believe that they weren’t actually actors in a movie, but rather real...

"You can't count it!" That's what producer Peter Safran said to Entertainment Weekly in 2023 about "The Curse of La Llorona" being part of The Conjuring Universe. Safran, who has helped to spearhead the very successful horror franchise alongside James Wan since 2013, did not leave any room for interpretation there. Yet, director Michael Chaves' successful 2019 feature directorial debut contains characters from "Conjuring" films, as well as overt references to events in those stories. Be that as it may, this movie now exists as both an unquestionable hit and a film that narratively exists in The Conjuring Universe but, for technical reasons, actually doesn't.
In the era of cinematic universes, it's an almost unprecedented situation. Why provide connective tissue if the plan isn't to connect these dots?...

As far as I’m concerned, director Jim Wynorski’s 1986 film Chopping Mall (watch it Here) ranks up there as one of the most entertaining horror movies of the ’80s, which is the decade that brought a lot of my favorite horror movies into the world. It’s also a movie that doesn’t seem to get referenced often enough, and doesn’t get as much respect as it deserves – even if James Wan wants to remake it and Shout Factory TV aired it for 24 hours straight on Black Friday. So I’m glad to see that Chopping Mall is getting some love from the folks at Encyclopocalypse Publications, who have announced that they’re teaming up with Shout Factory and author Brian G. Berry for a Chopping Mall novelization!
Written by Wynorski and Steve Mitchell, Chopping Mall has the following synopsis: Some people will kill for a bargain… and...

There won’t be much by way of Marvel this year with Deadpool & Wolverine being their only significant release. Additionally, the company is seeking to rebound from a year of poorly received works like The Marvels and Secret Invasion, plus their shocking overhaul of Daredevil: Born Again, as well as their rising star Jonathan Majors getting released from his role as Kang amid his legal controversy. While Kevin Feige was able to showcase some “f*cking amazing” footage of Deadpool & Wolverine at CinemaCon this year, Marvel’s only other big bit of news in recent months came in the shape of The Fantastic Four.
This past phase for Marvel Studios attempted to set up the new roster of heroes, which would be standing in the way of Kang for the new Avengers movies. The new generation included Shang-Chi from the 2021 movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Remember how the first Aquaman came out and was a colossal success? It really seemed like everything was finally on track for the character after years of jokes and abuse. Then tragedy…or well…insanity struck. The sequel was plagued with reshoots, scheduling conflicts, and an ever-changing landscape of the Dceu. Plus there’s the Amber Heard of it all, which has grown increasingly complicated. Today on DC Revisited, we’re getting into it all, as we dive into James Wan’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Before the first Aquaman had found massive success, Warner Bros was already hard at work on developing a sequel. Jason Momoa himself pitched a story to the studio, wanting to be more involved in the sequel’s development. This makes sense as Momoa really was the face of Aquaman and had shifted the perception of the character from a blonde man in tights...

Movies like Brendan Fraser’s The Mummy have proved that the harsh opinions of critics cannot be entirely trusted. The difference in opinion between critics and audiences may occur due to different factors. Some themes in films would pique the interest of movie lovers no matter what the critics say about its lack of originality. In other cases, performances deemed bad by the critics can turn out to be entertaining for audiences.

Welcome back to Dead Time. I hope you left a light on for me because this month we’re going inside The Conjuring house to find out the real story of what happened to Carol and Roger Perron when they moved their five daughters into a house in Burrillville, Rhode Island in the early 1970s.
In 2013, director James Wan unleashed the terrifying horror film The Conjuring, which was based on the case files of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren and told the story of a family tormented by a demonic force after moving into their new home. In real life, the Warrens did investigate the activity in the Perron home, but the story goes a bit differently. You may think you know what really happened inside that house based on the horror movie alone, but you would be mistaken. The true story is much, much scarier.

Under $5 million; no first time directors (unless there’s a named producer); actually good. These used to be the tenets by which Blumhouse built its name. But oh how things have changed. It’s looking increasingly like the little studio that could is making a land grab for virtually every property in horror-dom.
The latest trailer to drop from Blumhouse is for Speak No Evil, a remake of the 2022 Danish film of the same name which caused a big buzz when it hit Shudder for being so utterly and depressingly grim. Blumhouse snapped it up and cast James McAvoy, star of Blumhouse movies Split and Glass, as the central psycho. James Waktins who made similarly nasty and misanthropic horror Eden Lake has directed and the film is set to release in September. That is a pretty speedy turnaround as these things go, but Blumhouse always was agile. McAvoy is good...

2024 is shaping up to be a big year for bugs and Kiah Roache-Turner’s monster spider movie Sting is here to make your skin crawl! We’ve already got 2 sandworm movies on the books, not to mention some colossal-sized critters in Godzilla x Kong, but the creepy crawlies are once again having their day in the dark corners of the horror-sphere. It wasn’t long ago that we heard rumblings of a James Wan/Christopher Landon Arachnophobia reboot, and here we are now with two new spider movies about to infest your local theatre. While I’ve heard that one of those spider movies is intense and unrelenting (I’ll believe it when I see it!), Sting is fun, and funny, and loaded top to bottom with A+ practical effects...

American author Stephen King is much loved by his fans for crafting some of the most iconic horror stories. The author has written many cult classics like It, The Shining, Pet Sematary, The Outsider, and more.
His books have also inspired multiple TV and film productions, with the 1980s The Shining, starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall, being the most popular. Hence, it’s no surprise that the 76-year-old writer is considered an authority in the horror genre.
Most recently, King shared his take on a 2024 horror film which received an abysmal Rotten Tomatoes rating of just 21%. The author disagreed with critics’ opinions about the film.

Leigh Whannell’s upcoming horror film won’t be gracing our screens this year as Universal shifts Wolf Man to January 2025.
Wolf Man, Universal’s high profile horror endeavour, has gone through more changes than one can count. The film, at one point, was supposed to star Ryan Gosling and be directed by The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell.
Well, the film is still being directed by Whannell, but he was at one point replaced by Derek Cianfrance, who is now busy working on Roofman, it seems.
Universal originally planned to release the film this October, as a Halloween treat presumably, but that plan has now gone out the window. Wolf Man will now release on 17th January, 2025.
Gosling was replaced by Christopher Abbott, who was last seen in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things and will also feature in this year’s Kraven The Hunter. Julia Garner is also attached to the film.

A Stephen King horror story about a malevolent (sort of) doll almost sounds like something that could've been written specifically for James Wan to turn into a movie. But while the filmmaker behind "Saw," "Insidious," "The Conjuring," and "Malignant" is indeed involved in adapting "The Monkey" -- a short story King wrote for Gallery magazine in 1980 before later including it in his 1985 collection "Skeleton Crew" -- for the screen, he's only lending his services as a producer.
Instead, "The Monkey" is being written and directed by Osgood "Oz" Perkins, son of "Psycho" actor Anthony Perkins and the mind behind such creepily atmospheric and inventively stylized horror pictures as "The Blackcoat's Daughter," "I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House," and "Gretel & Hansel". Osgood Perkins is also currently riding high thanks to the buzz around "Longlegs," his upcoming occult serial killer horror-thriller that boasts one of the most intriguing trailers in recent memory.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was an immaculate experience for fans. It was surprising, and the hammer on the nail to lift Tom Holland to an engrossing height as Spider-Man. Also, remarkably, the nostalgia the movie created fascinated Marvel fans as the movie went on to receive immense accolades from both fans and critics.
Spider-Man and Doctor Strange in Spider-Man: No Way Home
With the surprising comeback of the previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield creating the union of the live-action Spider-Man trio, the movie also marks the reappearances of the iconic villains. Alongside Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, fans also saw Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Jamie Foxx’s Max Dillon. With that note, Marvel fans may have certainly missed one or two details of the movie.

A couple of new genre movies are headed to Netflix in April, including M. Night Shyamalan’s Split and sequel Glass, but this coming month is sadly more about what’s *leaving* Netflix.
The horror films leaving Netflix in April 2024 include Day of the Dead: Bloodline, which will be leaving the streaming service on April 4. This one’s no huge loss for most fans, as the 2018 horror movie was another lackluster attempt to reanimate George Romero’s horror classic.
Deliver Us from Evil (2014) is leaving Netflix on April 11, director Scott Derrickson’s supernatural horror movie starring Eric Bana. The film was inspired by the real life experiences of retired NYPD sergeant Ralph Sarchie, particularly based on his book Beware the Night.
Both The Meg (2018) and Train to Busan (2016) are leaving Netflix on April 22, one a killer shark blockbuster and the other a critically acclaimed South Korean zombie masterpiece.

Between The Nun II, Sister Death, Consecration, the upcoming The First Omen, and the newly released Immaculate, starring Sydney Sweeney, it’s safe to say that nuns are having a moment in horror. So often, fear thrives in the unlit nooks of the unknown, and for many of us, that includes those who dedicate themselves to religious orders. Shrouded in intrigue and literal fabric, the combo of unwavering religious devotion and rejection of various worldly pleasures makes nuns ripe for genre exploration. While nuns are certainly trending, this is by no means the first time horror has blessed us with terrifying tales featuring such religious women.
In Häxan (1922), possessed nuns mingle with witches as director Benjamin Christensen explores the connection between mental health and mass hysteria. With movies like Alucarda (1975), Ms. 45 (1981), and St. Agatha (2018), the subgenre of nunsploitation comes into play to further explore themes of religious and sexual oppression.

"Dune: Part Two" has continued to rake in the dough and has now surpassed 2021's "Dune" at the global box office. When all's said and done, director Denis Villeneuve's sequel will probably make somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 times as much as the first movie did, which is great news for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. It's also very good news for those who want to see Villeneuve finish his trilogy in a few years, as all signs point to the studios giving a third installment the green light.
This past weekend, "Dune: Part Two" came in second place to "Kung Fu Panda 4," pulling in another $28.5 million domestically in its third weekend. The blockbuster based on Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi novel only dropped 38% compared to the prior weekend, which is a stellar hold for a movie of this size. The film has now earned $204.7 million domestically to...

Halloween is still seven months away, but Blumhouse is hoping to tide horror fans over by putting some of its library titles back into theaters.
AMC Theatres will host the five-day event in more than 40 cities and on 100 of its locations, with tickets going for $8. The lineup includes Split (Friday, March 29), The Purge (Saturday, March 30), Ouija: Origin of Evil (Sunday, March 31), Insidious (Monday, April 1 — which is the film’s 13th anniversary) and The Invisible Man (Tuesday, April 2).
“We wanted to celebrate local communities of horror fans throughout the country with a fun, affordable and slightly evil night at the movies. We’re grateful to our partners at AMC for helping us bring this idea to life,” said Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum in a statement.
Added AMC EVP worldwide programming and Cco: “Blumhouse films terrify and delight horror fans. We are excited to bring these favorites back to the big screen.

The WGA strike of 2023 has created a fortunate side effect. While writers demanded better pay from studios -- as well as a guarantee that they would not be replaced by clunky automated writing machines -- many films and TV shows halted production. Without writers, the Hollywood system ground slowly to a halt. When the strike was resolved, production began again, but it left a 148-day gap in most studios' production schedules. To fill the gaps, some studios have adopted an ingenious approach: merely re-release some of their biggest hits from years past, allowing audiences to see some of their favorite movies on the big screen again.
In the case of Pixar, films like "Soul," "Luca," and "Turning Red" are being re-released to make up for losses incurred during the pandemic. Those films were all released directly onto Disney+ in the U.S. and only played in select theaters internationally, making...

We didn’t catch word of this when it happened, but it has been revealed that short filmmaker Adam Cosco recently filed a copyright and breach of contract lawsuit against Malignant director James Wan and his wife Ingrid Bisu, claiming the film plagiarized a screenplay he had written called Little Brother. Thankfully, the details are the lawsuit are just now coming to light because the case has been settled.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cosco claimed that Ryan Turek of Blumhouse had access to his Little Brother script and passed it over to Wan, who then used it as the basis for Malignant. Wan denied ever receiving or reading the script, but the lawsuit pointed out that there were several similarities between the two works. The complaint pointed out that “both screenplays feature a twist that the protagonist has her twin brother absorbed inside her in the form of a malignant tumor,...
