Comic book writer Mark Miller, who is best known for writing Old Man Logan and the creator of Kick-Ass and Kingsman, had been a consultant at Fox for a few years. He's helped out with the development of some of the Marvel properties at the studio. After the Disney and Fox merger deal closed, he discussed the pros and cons of it on Twitter.
He said that the deal was good for Disney, but bad for Fox because of all the extra levels of bureaucracy that will creep into the creative aspect of the films they make. He also touches on the X-Man franchise and says that it's good that Disney and Marvel could help give it a fresh start.
Millar makes some really good points in his little rant. One of the biggest things that he mentions is that he doesn't see Marvel or Disney making big gambles on...

After spending the last few days covering conversations with filmmakers and actors that really have a lot to say because they need you- the fans- to understand every bit of what they're trying to do, it's kind of funny to move over to an article that features a far more traditional vague, cryptic approach.
Phil Lord and Mark Miller, best known for The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, are working on an animated Spider-man movie for Sony. We've known this for some time. We've also heard rumors that the film wouldn't center on Peter Parker. Yes, there have been rumors that the star of this one- both to shake up the feeling of sameness with all of these Spidey reboots, and to differentiate itself from the live-action McU Spider-Man films- would be Miles Morales.
The writer-director duo was asked about this rumor, and they both brushed right past it- refusing to give a straight answer.

I wasn't anticipating just how much fun Kingsman: The Secret Service would be, but the film is a blast each time I watch it. Obviously I wasn't the only one who thought so as the very successful adaptation of Mark Miller's comic will be getting a sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Many of the characters who survived the events of the first film, and some we... Read More...

Matthew Vaughn’s sequel to the block-busting Kingsman: The Secret Service may have landed itself an Academy Award winning actress, as Deadline reports that former X-Men star Halle Berry (Monster’s Ball, Catwoman) is in talks to join the cast as the head of The CIA.
No other details on Berry’s role are provided, but should she sign on, she’ll join the returning Taron Egerton as Gary “Eggsy” Unwin, and, reportedly, Julianne Moore as the new villain of the piece. After all, there wasn’t much left of the previous ones by the end of the first movie.
There were also initial rumors that Colin Firth might be reprising the role of Harry Hart despite being killed off pretty decisively in the original – but comic creator Mark Miller claimed that the details haven’t been worked out just yet in a recent interview, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Young Hollywood has witnessed a meteoric rise in the last decade; more and more talented teens are populating the silver screen and snatching away the awards and acclaim from their seasoned peers. Few film stars have quite the progressive power as Chloë Grace Moretz however, who turned 18 this year and has already completed a life’s work compared to some.
Beautiful, charming and particularly well-mannered (one has interviewed her before and has first-hand experience of her good nature), she has managed to build an ironcast profile in this unpredictable and often controlling market by remaining organic and focusing on quality.
The vast majority of cinema-goers and fanboys alike adore Moretz for bringing such vibrant, claret-sodden life to Mark Miller’s Hit-Girl in the excellence Kick-Ass (2010 – 2013) franchise – and here’s hoping she gets that desired spin-off – but there is plenty more to this happy-go-lucky camper that you may not be aware of.

It's not clear how the scene you see below would have fit into Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Secret Service, but comic book writer Mark Miller has confirmed their legitimacy as you can see below. They come from a VFX site (via Ain't It Cool) who specify that they "worked on the VFX for the movie including a complex sequence involving Michael Caine looking 40 years younger." I'd say they did a great job! The scene was obviously finished and cut from the theatrical version, so it will no doubt be included on the Blu-ray. It should be interesting to see what it involved anyway! As great as this scene was, like the extra Hit-Girl training in KA1, Matthew felt it pulled the movie's pacing sideways & he was right. — Mark Millar (@mrmarkmillar) February 24, 2015...

A master at crafting popcorn-friendly fare, director Matthew Vaughn shows off a newfound range with The Kingsman: The Secret Service.
The throwback spy flick centers on a street kid (Taron Egerton) who is recruited by a top-notch spy organization. Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson also star in what proves to be a thrilling yet light-hearted adventure.
The Kingsman reunites Vaughn with his Kickass collaborator Mark Miller, who penned the comic book along with Dave Gibbons.
A distinguished filmmaker in his own right, Vaughn has a track record that ranges from indie gems like Layer Cake to much-hyped blockbusters such as X-Men: First Class.
Latino-Review had the chance to sit down with the London native to discuss how he handles criticism, his influences and how he hopes to grow as a director.

It can be deadly just to cross paths with Pinhead, but to attack the notorious Cenobite and pry the pins from his flesh? Many would consider that to be suicide. The fifth issue hits shelves this Wednesday and sees Pinhead gaining some assistance against his assailants, and we have a set of preview pages that tease what’s ahead.

A couple of years ago it was announced that Clive Barker was developing a TV series with Morgan Creek based on his 1990 horror film Nightbreed. We haven't heard anything about it since he first talked about it, saying:
"The sensitivity of our culture has sort of caught up with Nightbreed. I don't wish to be immodest, but the general sense is that the movie failed because people didn't want to associate with the monster, and I think our culture has changed—I think our culture is now ready to embrace the ambiguity."
Apparently, the production company is once again taking steps to develop the movie into a series. An extended cut of the film is set to be released on Blu-ray soon, and while promoting it, Michael Plumides of Morgan Creek gave an update in an interview with Empire.

Author, artist, and director Clive Barker seems to have few qualms about inflicting injury on characters, as those familiar with his Books of Blood short stories or the 1987 film Hellraiser know. But Barker himself had a painful experience with his 1990 fantasy-horror film Nightbreed. The tale of a suspected serial killer (Craig Sheffer) who joins a group of freakish-looking outcasts the film was, to Barker’s enduring dissatisfaction, re-cut before its release, and some of the movie’s original elements were subsequently lost forever…

Exclusive: Toronto-based Raven Banner Entertainment is to adapt Clive Barker’s short story Jacqueline Ess: Her Will And Testament.
The story originally appeared in Barker’s anthology novel The Books Of Blood and tells of a beautiful seductress with the ability to change people’s body shapes with her mind.
Raven Banner will produce with Barker’s Seraphim Films on board as executive producer. The feature production is scheduled to commence in the autumn.
Partners Michael Paszt, James Fler and Andrew Hunt brokered the deal with Noor Ahmed of Reder & Feig on behalf of Seraphim.
“All of us at Raven Banner have been huge fans of Clive’s for years and I personally have always loved the story of Jacqueline Ess,” said managing partner Hunt. “It has all the qualities one wants in a modern horror film, so I’m excited to see it finally being brought to life on film.”

The story follows a space hero who saved the universe 35 years ago but came back to Earth, where no one believed his fantastic stories.

Fox really wants this Fantastic Four reboot to be successful. Now that they have X-Men scribe Simon Kinberg polishing the script, they’re starting up some test screenings with some of Hollywood’s rising stars, including Kit Harrington and Saoirse Ronan.
According to Variety, Kit Harington, Jack O’Connell and Miles Teller are all getting test offers to read for the role of Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic. Meanwhile, Saoirse Ronan and Kate Mara will try out for Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Girl. Michael B. Jordan is also in the mix; he’s the only one being linked to the role of Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, thus far.
The site also mentioned what Fox hopes to do with this reboot, which has become pretty obvious since they hired Kinberg. Fox basically wants to revamp Fantastic Four by casting a group of young and popular actors, and building the story around them.

Months before it opened in theaters, Kick-Ass 2 made headlines when star Jim Carrey announced on Twitter that he would not be promoting the upcoming sequel because he felt he could no longer support such a violent film. The Universal film's star Chloe Grace Moretz, writer/director Jeff Wadlow and comic writer Mark Miller, have all spoken about Carrey's comments, saying that the violence in the film is part of the story, and that while they disagree with Carrey's comments, they think he was great in the pic. Already this week we’ve heard from Kick-Ass 2 comic book Writer Mark Miller and the main three cast in the Kick-Ass movie sequel Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Chloe Moretz but now it’s the turn of the newest member of the bunch – writer/director Jeff Wadlow. Wadlow has previously directed Never Back Down and Cry Wolf, but this is arguably his biggest challenge. Although the film is a studio movie, producer Matthew Vaughn (director of the first movie) still maintains control of the property and it would appear that Wadlow has seriously impressed him!
After the first movie was complete the ever-growing fan-base wanted a second film, and it was seemingly a chance encounter or script which Wadlow wrote and sent into Vaughn which changed the fate of Kick-Ass. Four years since the first movie, Wadlow’s script was not only well recieved by Vaughn, but he was...

HeyUGuys were lucky to be invited to the sound stage at the world famous Pinewood Studio early last October to witness the filming of Kick-Ass 2. We were ushered past multitudes of superheroes who were all prepping for the movie’s climactic finale – a fight between all those who are good and all those who are not! This final scene takes place in Red Mist’s (now known as the Motherf*cker) evil lair and we got to speak to many of the cast and filmmakers throughout the day, both in the lair and in the Justice Forever HQ which was equipped with it’s very own graffitied table where most the interviews took place.
Over the course of the next few days, you’ll hear from the stars and filmmakers of Kick-Ass 2, including Kick-ass himself, Aaron Johnson, Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz), director Jeff Wadlow and Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse...

As director Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of Mark Miller and Dave Gibbons' "Secret Service" edges closer to the start of its production, the film's cast has started to firm up. Millar confirmed Colin Firth's involvement in an interview with /Film, and dropped another name that should make comic book movie fans happy.
"Michael Caine is the head of this spy organization," said Millar. "Colin Firth is the senior guy, and a new young guy coming in who's [unintelligible]. So it's 'My Fair Lady' meets James Bond. It's... I don't know what Americans would call it, but a chav, the street kids, somebody who's a kind of hoodie or something. It's a scummy kid who's being trained to be a British gentleman spy."
And just who will play that hoodie chav from the streets (I used all that slang super correctly)?

It's a few years since the surprise announcement that an original workprint of Clive Barker's much abused Nightbreed had surfaced. Since then various new edits have been uncovered, assembled and screened to an enthusiastic and vocal fanbase. But from Comic-Con over the weekend came the long-awaited news that the extended version is finally making its way to an official, restored release. For those new to the story, Nightbreed was taken away from writer/director Clive Barker and re-cut by its studio for release, to the extent that Barker more-or-less disowned it. The cut footage was thought lost, but various work-prints have been uncovered on VHS tapes over the last couple of years. This footage was then assembled into what was essentially a bootleg cut utilising the poor-quality "new" VHS and the existing theatrical-cut DVD.Dubbed The Cabal Cut after Barker's original novel, the new version was the work of Derby-based filmmaker/academic Russell Cherrington,...

Matthew Vaughn, Mark Millar and Jane Goldman are set to have The Secret Service in cinemas for November 2014...
The game of 'which project is Matthew Vaughn going to direct next' appears to be finally over for the time being. The director of X-Men: First Class, the wonderful Stardust and the rather impressive Kick-Ass seems to have been linked to his fair share of projects of late. He passed on X-Men: Days Of Future Past, which subsequently fuelled speculation that he was making Star Wars: Episode VII. Turns out that he was quite close to the project, but that job went to Jj Abrams, and then when Sam Mendes dropped out of James Bond 24, Vaughn's name was linked again.
It's little surprise. Matthew Vaughn is a director without a duff movie to his name, and truthfully, we're really rather pleased with the project that he's chosen to make next.
