Exclusive: The Daily Wire’s streaming service DailyWire+ is lining up a September start in Europe for what it is calling its biggest-budget production to date, a fantasy series inspired by Arthurian legend.
Daily Wire Co-CEO Jeremy Boreing will take a temporary leave of absence from the right wing media organization to direct the seven-episode series, which has long been a passion project of his.
Boreing will co-direct with Ryan Whitaker (Surprised By Oxford). The “multinational” cast is being finalized with filming due to take place in Italy and Hungary.
The Daily Wire confirmed to us that it won’t be needing an interim agreement from SAG.
The drama will be inspired by the first two books of the series written by Stephen R. Lawhead. The Pendragon Cycle is a retelling of the Arthurian legend, set not in the high Medieval age of knights in shining armor, but in the wake of a Roman-occupied Britain,...

Ahead of FrightFest’s UK premiere of Run Hide Fight at the Glasgow Film Festival, director Kyle Rankin talks about the personal tragedy that inspired the film, the influence of 70s cinema and the huge importance of film festivals.
Run Hide Fight was inspired by a tragic incident in your own past so did that make it a harder script to write?
In 1999, my best friend and fellow filmmaker, Shayne Worcester, was gunned down during a mugging in San Francisco. It came to light years later that the event was a gang initiation — meaning guys who wanted to be part of a gang were tasked with going out and killing a random civilian that night. He was only 29.
I think about him all the time, so I wouldn’t say that writing Run Hide Fight was harder…it was instead maybe cathartic.

Cinestate is facing internal backlash after a recent report by The Daily Beast that details the independent Texas movie studio’s alleged complicity in several instances of sexual misconduct. Editors of two publications owned by the company, Birth.Movies.Death. and Fangoria, on Monday publicly shared a letter they have shared with their bosses demanding Cinestate take several measures in the realm of anti-harassment. They’re refusing to work until the company meets the demands. (The full letter is available below.)
Over the weekend, The Daily Beast published a deep-dive investigation titled “How a Right-Wing Movie Studio Enabled the ‘Harvey Weinstein’ of Indie Film,” referencing producer Adam Donaghey, who is currently facing a charge of sexual assault of a child, and produced several of Cinestate’s films. Exclusive: Fresh from winning the Emmy for Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series for Ozark, Jason Bateman has found his next feature film to direct. He’ll helm Shut In, the spec script by first time scribe Melanie Toast that New Line acquired in September.
Bateman had been developing to direct a film based on the Hasbro board game Clue, teaming with Ryan Reynolds at Fox/Disney. That project is still alive, but it would have been too much for Bateman to get it done and get back to his Netflix series. Then he found Shut In, a contained thriller he fell for quickly, and one that is a better fit for his schedule. They’re negotiating, but sources said that the film is on course for a production start in the first quarter of 2020.

Exclusive: Dallas Sonnier’s Cinestate, the production outfit that also owns horror brand Fangoria, is ramping up its distribution activities and has hired Brandon Hill as VP of acquisitions and distribution.
Based in La, Hill will acquire films for Cinestate, including its horror label Fangoria, for distribution across theatrical and all other platforms.
The Dallas-based company has produced titles including S. Craig Zahler’s Bone Tomahawk, Brawl In Cell Block 99, and Dragged Across Concrete. Since acquiring Fangoria in 2018, it has also produced four titles through that label: Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, Satanic Panic, and the upcoming Vfw and Castle Freak.
Fangoria distributes some of its titles in-house, and acquires outside produced movies for platform distribution, an effort headed up by Rob Galluzzo in La. Now, the company is looking to expand beyond home entertainment as part of Cinestate’s wider push into theatrical releasing.

Exclusive: I hear that Jason Sudeikis and Evangeline Lilly have been cast in Till Death, the action thriller being helmed by Aharon Keshales, who co-directed 2013 breakout Israeli horror Big Bad Wolves.
In the film, convicted felon Jimmy gets early parole after serving twelve years for armed robbery. Upon his release, he vows to give Annie, his childhood love, now dying from cancer, the best last year of her life – unfortunately it’s not that simple. Keshales penned the script with Navot Papushado and Kai Mark.
The project comes from Dallas-based producers Cinestate and Arts District Entertainment, and is fully financed by London-based Media Finance Capital.
Uphe Content Group has already snapped up world rights to the package. Pic will go into production in January 2020.
SNL grad Sudeikis is making something of a genre departure on this high-octane action pic, following recent drama roles in Kodachrome and Driven, alongside his comedy work.
