Domestic distributor Bleecker Street is in negotiations to acquire rights to “Fackham Hall,” a British spoof of “Downton Abbey” and other costume dramas. Sales outfit The Veterans is pre-selling international territories. And as international buyers face a potential drought of Hollywood product due to strikes, the market is offering other promising presale titles.

Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to star as the President of the United States alongside Joel Kinnaman in independent action thriller “The Beast” from WME Independent, according to an insider with knowledge of the project.
The film, which has an Interim Agreement from SAG-AFTRA, was packaged pre-strike and is currently in preproduction.
The project centers on the impenetrable presidential limousine — nicknamed “The Beast” by the Secret Service. Stocked with grenades, rigged with shotguns, armor-plated, bullet- and bomb-proof and hermetically sealed, the Beast is a grinding defensive titan and no match for any enemy vehicle.
When a militia of unidentified hostiles coordinates a devastating coup against the U.S. presidency, the president (Jackson) uncovers the extent of the Beast’s highly classified offensive capabilities, too. Separated from his wife, the one thing tethering him to his humanity as he tears through a violent wasteland of chaos and carnage, the president...

Exclusive: A reboot of the 1992 hit Steven Seagal action movie Under Siege is underway at Warner Bros. with Timo Tjahjanto directing and Umair Aleem writing. The duo, I hear, collaborated and developed the pitch together with the movie being planned to stream on HBO Max.
There’s no word yet if Seagal will reprise his role as Casey Ryback, the ex-Navy Seal turned cook who was the only person in that movie to stop a group of terrorists from taking control of a U.S. battleship. The movie, directed by Andrew Davis, grossed over $156M WW when it was released and spawned a 1995 sequel Under Siege 2: Dark Territory which minted over $104M-plus WW. Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey starred in the first movie.

Exclusive: Greg Silverman and Jon Berg of Stampede Ventures have snapped up rights to screenwriter Umair Aleem’s new action-adventure spec script The Paladin, which is being eyed as a franchise-starter, unfolding into a much larger, expansive universe.
Billed as Doctor Strange meets Unforgiven, The Paladin centers on a broken-down, last-of-his-kind warrior mage who undertakes a final quest to protect a child who has the power to save or destroy our world.
Silverman and Berg will produce the feature with a plan to go into production next year. The packaging of a star and filmmaker are underway.
The Paladin comes on the heels of Aleem’s hard-action feature Kate, a 2017 Black List script, which premiered on Netflix in September starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Woody Harrelson and Mike Martineau. Kate was the most watched film on any streaming service for 12 straight days. Aleem also adapted Danger Girl and wrote the sequel to Mile 22 for STX.

“You’re a Terminator,” Tokyo teen Ani (Miku Patricia Martineau) gapes to Kate (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) after witnessing the bloodshed her kidnapper has brought down on two dozen yakuza now lying shot, stabbed, sizzled on a yakitori grill and very, very dead. Kate, the titular antihero of director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan’s vicious vengeance flick, is a grown-up child assassin trained by her mentor (Woody Harrelson) in the art of death, a fate so common among on-screen orphans that their support group could fill a church basement. Yes, she can rack up quite the Schwarzenegger-esque kill count. But Kate’s Terminator resemblance also includes her left eye’s red and distended pupil, evidence of the polonium poisoning that will kill her in 24 hours. Other symptoms of this gimmick include blistered skin, pounding eardrums, wobbly knees and an urgency to take an entire gangster clan along with her to the grave. There is no cure.

Stx Entertainment is in the process of developing several Vr series through their immersive content division STXsurreal and it has been revealed that one of those projects will include a Jay and Silent Bob series from writer and director Kevin Smith. If you're a fan of Jay and Silent Bob, then you're not gonna want to miss this.
Smith will write, direct and produce the comedy series, which will star his longtime collaborator Jason Mewes. The series will be shot entirely from the perspective of Bob, and "viewers will embody the silent fanboy himself while alpha-slacker Jay leads the way through a string of idiotic adventures."
This actually sounds like it could be fun, even if you don't watch it in Vr. What do you think of this Jay and Silent Bob Vr series? Are you excited about it or do you think it's a silly idea?

In case you haven't heard, J. Campbell Scott's awesome 90s comic book series Danger Girl is being adapted into a feature film and series by Constantin Film. That was announced a few months, now we've learned that Umair Aleem has been hired to write the script for the movie. Aleem hasn't really done much. He's a newbie, who is developing a few other projects as well including a Netflix film called Kate, which centers on "a veteran hitwoman who is mysteriously poisoned on her last assignment in Tokyo, and who has 24 hours to track down her killer before she dies."
I hope Aleem is able to deliver a great script for Danger Girl. The movie is a top priority for the studio and as a fan, I'd hate to see it end up being a mediocre movie, which could very well happen with the wrong creative team.

Last week we learned that Netflix has huge plans for 2018 as they plan on spending $8 billion on content that includes 80 original feature films. According to Deadline, one of those films is a hardcore female action film called Kate and they plan on spending $25 million to make it.
Kate is described as a hard-boiled action thriller with a female protagonist that sources said is reminiscent of Kill Bill and La Femme Nikita. Exactly ten years ago, Bruce Willis toplined Florent Emilio Siri’s low-key action thrill ride Hostage, playing a high-skilled Lapd agent who helped parlay a tense situation that witnessed a group of deadly terrorists infiltrate a family home. Hot on the heels of joining Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool, Fast and Furious and Haywire starlet Gina Carano has signed on for Steven C. Miller’s upcoming CIA thriller Extraction, along with Twilight star Kellan Lutz.
News comes via Deadline, who report that the pair will star opposite Bruce Willis in the actioner. According to the outlet, Lutz will assume the role of Harry Turner, a rookie agent yet to cut his teeth in the agency. With his father (Willis) missing, Turner flies in the face of direct orders and sets out on a mission to find him, but this soon leads to a manhunt spearheaded by Carano’s steely field operative, Victoria. And given the actress’ ass-kicking reputation accrued from her time spent in Mma, we don’t envy Turner’s plight.
