Review of Logan Lucky

Logan Lucky (2017)

My notes..
6 July 2022
Even though I watch a lot of movies, I barely write reviews. But, i liked it so much that I decided to write one. Well, it's not a review per say.. more like my notes on why I liked this one so much.

1. Portrayal of small town life. The life in the Appalachian mountains, the west virginia, their accents.. Absolutely liked that.

2. There are some scenes which are slow.. some might say those are irrelevant in a heist movie, but, they represent small things we do daily in our life. I loved that too.

2. Long & steady camera shots. No sudden cuts, paced camera work.

3. Realistic night photography. In most movies, whenever there is an outdoor scene at night, some background, out of sight lights lit the areas in front of the camera, which is absurd. Where is that light coming from in the middle of the jungle/road? But, in this movie, the night scenes are realistically lit. No unnecessary lights put. Most notable scene is when Jimmy is returning home from the heist & the sign on the side of the road that reads "Welcome to West Virginia". This signboard is seen a in earlier scenes in the movies, but when Jimmy returns home at night, only the silhouette of the board is seen. No extra lighting is used in that scene except the car headlights; as it should be.
