“Family Guy” creator and executive producer Seth MacFarlane shared insight at PaleyFest on whether or not the Griffin family will ever make it to the big screen in a full-length feature film. The show’s cast also brought the house down Friday with a live table read of upcoming episode “The Edible Arrangement” and nine performances of musical classics from the series as the show celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Without giving too much of the goodness away, the episode the cast did a table read for — written by Travis Bowe — is titled “The Edible Arrangement.” It’s centered on Lois and Stewie bonding after consuming a few of Brian’s weed-infused gummies. The episode features the first time Lois has ever heard Stewie talk, which provides Stewie with the perfect opportunity to tell her all about his old plot to murder her.

Returning for its 15th annual edition this weekend, the TCM Classic Film Festival will turn Hollywood Blvd. into the center of the movie universe again for four days, for that very obsessive and loving subset of film fans that has the network’s vintage fare as part of their weekly and daily lives. And just what time span “classics” falls into is exemplified by the big opening and closing night films.
The gala opening night picture is 1994’s “Pulp Fiction,” which festival director Genevieve McGillicuddy says “is one of the most contemporary films that we are showing this year, along with ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ and ‘Little Women,’ the 1994 version. ‘Seven,’ I think, is the most recent film we’re screening; that’s 1995. Just like with the network, we don’t have any official cutoff in terms of the years of films that we’re showing. But, interestingly — it’s the opposite of a cutoff,...

In March 2019, Disney completed their purchase of Fox, effectively enacting one of the largest studio mergers in Hollywood history. This came after Disney had already made a major purchase from Marvel Comics a decade earlier, as well as the buyout of Lucasfilm in 2012. As of this writing, Disney sits on top of what might be the largest film library in Hollywood. Disney has used their massive library to milk as much IP as possible, returning to old franchises that have been successful in the past. Frustratingly, they haven't opened up their massive archive to the public via one of their streaming services; much of the old Fox catalog remains under lock and key.
Through the Fox purchase, Disney inherited many TV shows and feature films that don't quite fit in with their populist, family-friendly brand. Disney owns the "Alien" movies, for instance, as well as "Die Hard." It's mind-boggling to think that Dr.

The actors from the current revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s “Merrily We Roll Along” have skyrocketed in Gold Derby’s combined odds for the 2024 Tony Awards nominations. The prediction center displays commanding leads for Jonathan Groff, Lindsay Mendez and Daniel Radcliffe to win their respective categories. This is an understandable result considering this revival is the hottest ticket in town and this trio of performers has been ever-present in the media. But how often does a trio of actors from the same production pull off three separate acting victories at the Tony Awards?
It’s quite common for a musical to grab two acting trophies, but three awards is much rarer. To date, only 15 musical productions have earned three acting wins. The first time this feat occurred was at the 1956 ceremony, which was ironically the first time the Tony Awards ever announced a slate of nominees (previously...

Deadpool 3 Releases Special Valentine’s Day Poster to Celebrate Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Duo
Deadpool is one of the most well-known and notorious characters in the entirety of the Marvel ethos, whether it be in games, movies, or comic books. The Merc with a Mouth found success in comics and games, but it took him until 2016 to finally become a success on the Silver Screen, with Deadpool (2016).
Now, 8 years later, fans are going to be treated to Deadpool 3. On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, Deadpool 3 has released a special poster to celebrate Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s dynamic duo friendship in the film.
A Still from Deadpool (2016)
Deadpool (2016) starred Ryan Reynolds as the titular antihero, who had a penchant for chimichangas and mayhem. It almost immediately catapulted Reynolds to the top of Hollywood and redeemed him, considering the fact that he also portrayed Deadpool in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was hated by fans and critics alike.

Sixty years ago, on February 9, 1964: The Beatles make their legendary American debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. A record-shattering 73 million people tune in to see John, Paul, George, and Ringo for the first time. It’s the biggest audience any musicians have ever faced. But there’s no evidence that any of the Fab Four are the least bit worried they might fail. The U.S.A. gets a look at these cocky kids, hears their radical new electric noise, and—crucially—sees a theater full of girl fans screaming in ecstasy.

In the 1993 "The Simpsons" episode "Marge vs. the Monorail," the corrupt nuclear power plant owner Mr. Burns (Harry Shearer) is busted by the Epa for stuffing glowing toxic waste into trees at the local park (the trees sprout tentacles and the squirrels gain eyeball lasers). As punishment, Mr. Burns is fined $3 million, which he happens to have in his wallet. Springfield, suddenly flush with cash, has a town meeting debating what to spend it on. Marge Simpson (Julie Kavner) proposes that they use the money to fix up pothole-strewn Main Street, but a mysterious flim-flam man named Lyle Lanley (Phil Hartman) interrupts her. Using a broad smile and heaps of smarmy charm -- and a "Music Man"-style musical number -- Lanley convinces Springfield to spend the money on a monorail that he will build himself.

Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro” about the composer/musicians/conductor extraordinaire Leonard Bernstein is in contention for seven Oscars including three for Cooper. We’ll have to wait until the Academy Awards on March 10 to see how “Maestro” does.
But did you know that Bernstein received an Oscar nomination for his evocative and powerful score for the 1954 classic “On the Waterfront”? And just what score won that year? Veteran Dimitri Tiomkin’s “The High and the Mighty.”
Bernstein was also a powerhouse on television. According to LeonardBernstein.com, he “came of age artistically as television became part of everyday life and he immediately saw the potential to share and explore music with the mass audience. A generation of Americans appreciate music because of Bernstein.” His CBS series “Leonard Bernstein’s Young People’s Concerts with the New York Philharmonic” debuted Jan. 18, 1958, just two weeks after he became the Music Director for the Philharmonic.

C’mon get happy! In the 1970s TV series The Partridge Family, a group of musical siblings shoot to fame thanks to a catchy single and head out on the road with their mom. The show, which aired from 1970–74, was a pop culture phenomenon and made stars out of its young cast, including David Cassidy and Susan Dey.
Sadly, life after The Partridge Family wasn’t so kind to all the show’s actors. While some had successful post-show careers in Hollywood, others struggled with personal issues. Others dropped out of the spotlight altogether. Here’s a look at The Partridge Family cast and which stars are still alive.

A fun thing about getting into old musicals after watching "The Simpsons" your whole life is that you'll find yourself experiencing a never-ending string of realizations like, "Oh, so this is where that 'Simpsons' scene came from." Such is the case for "The Music Man," the 1962 musical about a conman who goes into a naive small town, stirs up a moral panic, and then uses said panic to sell them band instruments. This is all encapsulated in the musical number "Ya Got Trouble," where main character Harold Hill (Robert Preston) uses his charisma to get the town fully on board with his money-making scheme.
To a "Simpsons" fan, the song's tone, meaning, and rhythm should quickly feel familiar. That's because it's the same basic song Lyle Lanley (voiced by Phil Hartman) sings to the town of Springfield to get them to invest in a monorail they don't need.

As she strolls comfortably toward multiple Oscar nominations for “Barbie,” Greta Gerwig is on track to set several Academy Awards records tied to her age, gender and the movie’s financial success. In terms of more general achievements, perhaps the most impressive one in her reach is becoming the first filmmaker to have all of her initial three solo features contend for Best Picture. Over the past 95 years, many directors have had shots at earning that distinction and a few have come remarkably close, but none of their chances have been quite as strong as hers.
Since Gerwig did not produce her first two independently-directed films – “Lady Bird” (2017) and “Little Women” (2019) – and, per academy rules, cannot officially share in a “Barbie” Best Picture nomination due to her screen credit of “executive producer” (rather than the qualifying “producer” or “produced by”), she does not and will not soon have any bids...

Realizing they needed a voice over actor to provide the narration for a new show in development called Arrested Development, producer Ron Howard looked around the empty recording studio, finding no voice over actor in sight. So this Oscar winning former child star stepped in to provide a temporary voice track, you know just as a filler until they could find a better voice, of course. But a better voice never came because Ron Howard’s comforting and gentle tone mixed with a dry yet kinda goofy speech pattern was the perfect fit for the sense of humor of this show. But this was not the only time Ron Howard stepped up and became an unexpected perfect fit, he’s been doing that all his life – from being in front of the camera in classic TV shows and behind the camera for a hefty handful of wonderful motion pictures… and more!

Director Paul King does not qualify his newest movie as a traditional film production. Nor does he credit it as a Paul King “picture,” “joint,” or otherwise effort of industry. Instead, during the opening titles of Wonka, the movie is simply described as “a Paul King confection.” It’s a cute flourish for a movie about the most famous chocolate maker in cinema. It also proves surprisingly, and joyously, apt; for Wonka is indeed the sweetest thing you are likely to experience at a movie theater this holiday season. More impressive still, it doesn’t feel like teeth or brain rot either.
To be sure, in its best moments, Wonka is a pure sugar rush. It leaps and bounds alongside its characters as they dance across the surfaces of a nighttime sea; it also ascends as they do by way of a handful of balloons, floating ever upward toward a...

Hugh Jackman is the picture of tall, dark, and handsome. The charismatic Australian is a gifted singer, dancer, and actor. He’s starred in numerous films — his most memorable characters include Marvel’s hot-tempered Wolverine, vampire hunter Van Helsing, and circus great P.T. Barnum. He’s also lit up the stage in several award-winning productions on Broadway. In fact, the most embarrassing moment of Jackman’s impressive career happened during a production of Beauty and the Beast.
Hugh Jackman recalls peeing on stage as his most embarrassing moment
We’ve all heard the old saying “The show must go on.” Live performances are incredibly difficult, and any on stage faux pas needs to be glossed over as if it never happened. Anyone who has ever danced in a recital will certainly recall that if you trip, fall, or miss a step, you just keep on going. The audience will never even notice,...

The great question of a murder mystery show is, what do you do when the central case is solved? Only Murders in the Building had a quick answer for that, revealed in the cliffhanger ending of the first season: Add another murder on top of the first. In the second season, the oddball trio of Upper West Siders played by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez are tasked with figuring out who killed building busybody Bunny (Jayne Houdyshell). Their investigation leads right back to where their obsession with death began: the world of true-crime podcasts, with a vindictive assistant (Adina Verson) behind Bunny’s slaying. Now that the second season has 11 Emmy nominations, including one for outstanding comedy series, showrunner John Hoffman walks THR through his sophomore outing.

In many ways, Ben Platt is one of the most successful theater kids of our time, third only to Lin-Manuel Miranda and Taylor Swift (proof of this ignominious past can be found here and here). The prodigiously talented tenor grew up with fellow L.A.-based theater kid Molly Gordon and Bff Beanie Feldstein, attending a performing arts school and appearing in the ultimate theater kid role as Winthrop in a Hollywood Bowl production of The Music Man starring Kristin Chenoweth.

No matter where fate propels Oliver Twist—from the workhouse to the funeral home to the hideout of a master pickpocket—the orphan maintains a fierce sense of who he is, plus a willingness to stand up for himself and, yes, even ask for more in his pursuit of a loving home. And Benjamin Pajak, the actor who plays him, is on a similarly dogged quest: a nearly one-kid glorious mission to rescue the New York City Center’s lumpy revival of Lionel Bart’s 1960 musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’s classic novel Oliver Twist.
If it felt like hyperbole to praise the 10-year-old playing Winthrop Paroo in the revival of The Music Man as the most electrifying performer on stage, there’s no need to pull punches now that he’s taken on a title role. Indeed, Pajak, now 12 years old, is a marvel in Oliver! For one, his...

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have been entertaining fans for over a decade with their ongoing faux feuds.
Since the two met on set of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, they’ve grown to become close friends, giving fans countless reasons to laugh as their beef continues to escalate to date.
According to Jackman, here’s how the pair’s online flame war began.
“I met [Reynolds] back on [‘X-Men Origins] Wolverine’, and I used to ream him because I was very close friends with Scarlett [Johansson], and Scarlett had just married Ryan, so when he came on set I was like, ‘Hey, you better be on your best behaviour here, pal, because I’m watching,’ and we started ribbing each other that way,” he told Daily Beast back in 2020.

Opening night of the 14th TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood brought out not only the lustrous 4D restored Howard Hawks classic western “Rio Bravo” — starring John Wayne, Dean Martin, and Angie Dickinson, 91, who was on hand — but two directors and board members of Martin Scorsese’s Film Foundation, Steven Spielberg and Paul Thomas Anderson. They extolled Scorsese’s foresight and ongoing commitment to preserving and saving the original celluloid elements of classic films so that restorations like this one can occur.
“David and Warner Bros have their own archivists and they have titles they’d like from the Warner Bros. archive to be preserved,” said Spielberg explaining how titles are chosen, nearly 1000 since 1990 to date. “And every studio does have that but we try to find the films, not the films that are our favorite movies, but films that tell a very unique story of this country and the people of this country,...

If you love musicals, there is nothing better than Schmigadoon! Season 2.
On Schmigadoon! Season 2 Episode 1 Schmigadoon! Season 2 Episode 1, Melissa and Josh, married and discontent, try to recapture the magic they found in Schmigadoon, only to find the dark and gritty city of Schmicago.
However, since it's something different from their lives (as well as musical and magical), they decide to give it a shot, but neither of them really knows what they're in for.
As a musical theatre aficionado of the highest order, I shall do my level best to catch every wink and nod (and bump and grind), but this show is so jam-packed with references that some may slip by.
The city of Schmicago exists out-of-time, but obviously leans into the '20s and '30s of Chicago and Cabaret (Kander and Ebb's most enduring masterworks).
There are also hippies and, as we can glean from the opening number,...

It’s hard to imagine the most pointless Beatles songs at first. The group was one of the most influential bands in music. However, despite how good they were, some doozies fell through the cracks and into their catalog. Here are 10 of the most pointless Beatles songs.
The Beatles | J. Wilds/Getty Images 10. ‘Til There Was You’
The Beatles should have never covered “Till There Was You.” The song is a show tune written by Meredith Willson. It appeared in his 1957 stage production, The Music Man, and its 1962 movie musical adaptation. However, for some reason, the Fab Four thought it was a good idea to cover. Their version is pointless because they already had great love songs. They didn’t need to cover a cheesy tune from a musical.
9. ‘Run For Your Life’
“Run For Your Life” is one of the most pointless Beatles songs, and John Lennon admitted it.

Though it is perhaps not the buzziest title among Apple TV+'s offerings, the musical comedy "Schmigadoon!" was a surprising and pleasantly charming riff on some classic Broadway shows. Premiering in the summer of 2021, "Schmigadoon!", as its title would imply to those in the know, spoofed old-fashioned musicals like "Brigadoon," "The Music Man," and "Oklahoma!", with the twist that a modern couple found themselves magically transported into a world combining elements of these stage shows and could only get out by renewing and better understanding their love for each other. If "Schmigadoon!" had wrapped as a single-season miniseries, ending on a tentative but hopeful note, that would've been fine. But there are other eras of Broadway to spoof, and thankfully, we now have a second, very loopy, yet slightly edgier season of "Schmigadoon!", picking up almost exactly where it left off in terms of its story and high quality.

Earlier this year, Hugh Jackman said it would take six months to get back in shape to play Wolverine. Now, we’re checking in on him and, judging by his diet, he’s well on his way to be bulked up enough to reprise the character.
Hugh Jackman recently took to Instagram to flaunt not his Wolverine abs and biceps, but his chicken and potato intake, posting photos of takeout containers holding his daily diet. He captioned it, “Verified Bulking. A day in the life. Thank you Chef Mario for helping me stay healthy and properly fed whilst … Becoming. Wolverine. Hatcha! Whoopee! “Schmigadoon!” returns for Season 2 on April 7, 2023 with a darker tone. Unlike Season 1, which was inspired by golden age musicals of the 1940s and 50s, Season 2 of the Apple TV+ comedy transports the characters to “Schmicago.” The show will still be the humorous love letter to Broadway that fans adore, but this time it will be inspired by tuners from the 60s and 70s. “Schmigadoon!” picked up a few Emmy nominations, and even a win, when it was set in a colorful campy town. Will “Schmigadoon!” perform even better at the Emmys this year thanks to a lauded ensemble that pays homage to the likes of Oscar champs “Cabaret” and “Chicago”?
Season 1 of “Schmigadoon!” earned four total Emmy nominations. These bids include Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour), Music Composition, and a Choreography nomination for Christopher Gattelli. The show won a fourth bid: Outstanding Music and Lyrics for...

Hugh Jackman is officially in Wolverine mode. The actor shared a photo of his daily meal plan as his bulking phase goes into overdrive ahead of filming “Deadpool 3,” in which he will reprise the role of Wolverine opposite Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is a man of few words ... but many growls. Until 2021, the actor held the title for having the "longest career as a live-action Marvel character," seriously, Jackman has portrayed the mutant superhero for a long, long time. Although the 2000 "X-Men" film was the Australian actor's big breakthrough as an entertainer, Jackman has been a Broadway star for much longer.
Even before he landed the role that transformed his career forever, he had been nominated for an Olivier Award for his performance in an "Oklahoma!" production and had an established career on stage. Playing Wolverine wasn't an easy job for Jackman — he had relatively fewer lines and had to convey many emotions — particularly an animal rage that seemed suitable for the character. Wolverine's a pretty feral guy. He has claws. And he growls. Even though Jackman's performances on stage won him a Tony Award a few years later,...

After more than two decades of playing Wolverine in the X-Men film franchise, Hugh Jackman is opening up about the toll that the role has taken on his voice.
During an episode of BBC’s Front Row, the Les Misérables actor details the damage as a result of playing the mutant superhero.
“My falsetto is not as strong as it used to be and that I directly put down to some of the growling and yelling,” Jackman said. “My voice teacher in drama school would’ve been horrified by some of the things I did [in Wolverine].”
When he isn’t playing in his iconic action-packed roles, The Greatest Showman star is also known for his singing and dancing parts on Broadway, like Oklahoma!, A Steady Rain, The River and The Music Man, which rely on a strong vocal range. Jackman added that he is working on improving his voice for future projects.

Hugh Jackman has done a lot of roaring over the years.
The X-Men star has played Wolverine in six films since 2000.
The mutant is known for his intimidating battle cry as he bears his retractable claws.
In a new interview, Jackman – who is also known for his love of singing and performances in musicals like Les Miserables – said Wolverine’s “growling and yelling” has damaged his vocal cords.
“I’ve done some damage to my voice with Wolverine. My falsetto is not as strong as it used to be and that I directly put down to some of the growling and yelling,” Jackman said on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row programme on Monday (20 February).
“My vocal teacher in drama school would’ve been horrified with some of the things I did [as Wolverine].”
The Australian actor continued: “We learned a technique [in school] of how to shout and how to yell without ruining your voice.

It was an epic night for the Academy, with now-classic films and performances in competition, an anomaly between Best Picture and Best Director nominations, a young actress redefining the acting categories and the culmination of a decades-long feud. Let’s flashback to when first-time host Frank Sinatra guided the 35th Academy Awards ceremony on April 8, 1963.
In the years of the Best Picture category being limited to five films, the Best Director category typically fell in line with those productions, with maybe one variation. In 1963, only two directors from Best Picture nominees received bids; unsurprisingly, those two films also had the most nominations and the most wins. David Lean‘s sprawling epic biopic “Lawrence of Arabia” led the pack, coming into the night with ten bids and leaving with seven statues, including Best Picture and Lean’s second career win for Best Director. It has the unusual distinction of being the...
