The original Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey was easily one of the worst films of last year, but based on its outrageous premise and low budget, it managed to turn a profit. That of course means a sequel, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, with all the usual claims of a bigger budget, more kills and better effects. Conspicuously absent were promises of a decent script or acting, however.
Taking place a year after the original, Blood and Honey 2 opens with the introduction of Owl, who looks more like a vulture than anything. He joins Pooh and Piglet in their fun and games, starting with the torture and killing of three scantily clad campers.
Elsewhere, Christopher Robin, now played by Scott Chambers, aka producer Scott Jeffrey,...

Melissa McCarthy made a name for herself early with memorable comedic roles. She was the comic relief character with a few extra pounds. However, based on the most recent updates from her, she is kicking those pounds to the curb in a big way. So, what does she look like now?
Melissa McCarthy’s Weight Was Part Of Her Schtick
When you think of Melissa McCarthy’s previous roles in shows like Mike & Molly, it was easy to plug her into heavyset comedic roles with a good punchline. Over the years, the actor has branched out into other roles, but, most viewers agree that she is at her best when she is in some type of comedic role.
One thing that happens with this type of role is that it can be hard to break out of it. The same thing happened to Jonah Hill and Rebel Wilson before they eventually dropped the pounds.

Presenting a wonderfully Wilco-esque take on “Space Oddity” — itself named the 43rd best song of all time by Consequence in 2012 — the band settles into an acoustic arrangement, allowing Jeff Tweedy’s vocals to masterfully convey the tune’s enduring appeal for humanity.
Speaking about the performance in a statement, the band said: “As a gratefully, if not begrudgingly, Earth-bound band, it’s always an honor and a challenge to tackle any of David Bowie’s space-soaring arrangements. Striving to reach...

I found my way into the Halloween universe through an old VHS tape collecting dust on my father’s bookcase. He’d recorded Halloween II when it once played on HBO (back when the now-streaming giant was part of basic cable), and the crackle of static was part of its charm. I couldn’t tell you when I first saw Michael Myers slashing up Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, but I can guarantee where it was. Our living room carpet was a light tan, flecked with bits of beige, and our humongous wooden TV set, which sat squarely in the corner, gave me a front-row seat to so many terrible frights. I imagine myself transfixed to the screen, hypnotized by Dean Cundey’s cinematography and Rick Rosenthal’s expert direction. Michael Myers was and is The Boogeyman – he gave me more nightmares than I can count. But I loved being frightened, and...

The Television Critics Association awards nominations went public Friday, and it was great news for some series and sad news for others.
The Last of Us, The Bear, and Succession are in a three-way tie with five nominations apiece.
All three shows were expected to get some awards love, so their performances here are not surprising.
The Bear has been a bonafide hit for FX and Hulu, but there were some more first-year shows in the mix, too.
Andor, Jury Duty, Shrinking, Interview With the Vampire, and Poker Face were all well-represented.
Somewhat surprising: Ted Lasso and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel were shut out.
The news comes after both series have been big hits on the awards front and could set a precedent for upcoming awards shows.
Awards will be handed out at an in-person ceremony on August 7, 2023.

April showers might bring May flowers but on Disney+, April brings us all a heaping dose of Jeremy Renner. That’s right, friends, Disney+’s list of new releases for April 2023 includes the event we’ve all been waiting for: Rennervations.
A balm for those missing the Jeremy Renner app, Rennervations will make use of Marvel star Jeremy Renner’s last name and interest in renovation. Will the show be good? Who knows! But it sounds goofily fun enough and was a great excuse to use that photo of Hawkeye (Renner) and Captain America (Anthony Mackie) enjoying each other’s company.
Elsewhere on Disney+ this month is a whole lot of Star Wars. The season 3 finale of The Mandalorian will premiere on April 19. That will be immediately followed by a fresh Star Wars series, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures. Set during The High Republic era, this animated show will follow...

This post contains spoilers for season 1 of "The Last of Us" and "Yellowjackets."
I was thinking about this the other day, but I'm almost positive that I've referenced "Hell is a teenage girl" from Karyn Kusama and Diablo Cody's brilliant horror film, "Jennifer's Body," more than any other movie quote in existence. The opening line delivered by Amanda Seyfried's Anita "Needy" Lesnicki has been living rent-free in my head for nearly a decade and a half because for generations of teenage girls, myself included, life really was Hell on earth.
Coming-of-age stories are nothing new, but they really picked up during the 1950s with films like "Rebel Without a Cause" proving there was a valuable market for movies that treated teenagers like fully realized people. Ever since, we've enjoyed countless explorations of the teenage experience, ranging from the heyday of John Hughes' Molly Ringwald trilogy to Sam Levinson's addictively controversial series,...

Pairing wine with movies! See the trailers and hear the fascinating commentary for these movies, and many more, at Trailers From Hell. This week we pour up some wine pairings for a few films directed by the late, great Robert Altman. He was a groundbreaker, a trailblazer, an innovator – and hopefully our pairings will be at least half as inspired as his movies.

In another sign that the film and TV industry’s appetite for podcasting is growing in Europe as well as the U.S., German movie distributor SquareOne Entertainment is getting into the podcast game with the launch of digital business SquareOne Unlimited.
The company has hired former Emi Music Germany and ProSiebenSat executive Erik Julicher to run the division.
SquareOne CEO Al Munteanu told us, “Over the last six months we’ve restructured our business into three pillars: entertainment/distribution, production, and SquareOne Unlimited, which is our digital business largely in the space of podcasts. The idea is to increase ownership of IP and be as much a creator as a distributor.”
Munteanu, who himself started out in radio, said the end goal is to generate audio content which can be adapted for the screen.

“Girl Meets World” stars Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter have both been cast in separate Disney Channel original movies, the network revealed on Friday.
Carpenter, 15, will star alongside Sofia Carson (Disney’s “Descendants”) in “Further Adventures in Babysitting,” which is inspired by Elisabeth Shue‘s cult 1987 adventure-comedy “Adventures in Babysitting.” Blanchard, meanwhile, who is just 13, is set to star with Paris Berelc (“Mighty Med”) in the live-action adventure-comedy “Invisible Sister.”

Both films are set to begin production this spring during a hiatus for Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World” and Disney Xd’s “Mighty Med.
