Chicago Fire is back following the long spring hiatus and has some exciting new episodes for May.
The May 1 episode of Chicago Fire introduced a new firefighter – and he has several people from Firehouse 51 suspicious.
We also saw Violet Mikami enamored with the new paramedic Lyla Novak, (played by Jocelyn Hudon).
The new firefighter and paramedic help bring youth to Firehouse 51, and the characters could be on board for Chicago Fire Season 13.
Seeing Kelly Severide in charge with Chief Boden out of the office was interesting, though Severide seemed overwhelmed by the end of the episode.
Hopefully, Severide is well-rested, because he will have a tough time during the next new episode.

Chicago Fire fans have been patiently waiting almost a month for new episodes.
That wait could pay off in a big way with some dramatic storylines over the next few weeks.
As a reminder, Chicago Fire Season 12 was shortened due to the Hollywood strikes. This means we only get 13 new episodes this time, as opposed to 22+ in a regular season.
NBC has four more new episodes of Chicago Fire that debut in May, including a season finale that will likely include another cliffhanger.
The good news is that there are four consecutive weeks of new content, meaning One Chicago fans won’t have to worry about repeat episodes for a while.
Chicago Fire Season 13 has also been ordered. So, new episodes for that season will air in the fall of 2024.
Chicago Fire spoilers for upcoming episodes
On May 1, a new episode called The Wrong Guy debuts on NBC at 9/8c.

Chicago Fire Season 12 is quickly approaching its end. Only a few episodes remain before the long summer hiatus.
This is a shorter season of the hit firefighter drama – mostly because of the two Hollywood strikes that delayed production.
Even though most fans feel like the show just returned, it has been on a long spring break before the final episodes from the current season.
The summer hiatus will feel even longer due to the delays in the past season, but at least NBC already ordered Chicago Fire Season 13.
Many dramas around the television landscape have been canceled, so at least Chicago Fire fans can rest easy knowing the show is returning in the fall of 2024.
But before that new season begins, we have some important upcoming episodes to close out Chicago Fire Season 12.

Jodie Foster is undoubtedly one of the biggest female stars in Hollywood. The actress made a name for herself by playing the young prostitute Iris Steensma in Scorsese’s Taxi Driver, after having appeared in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore two years prior. But, while her filmography includes some important titles like The Accused (1988), Sommersby (1993), Maverick (1994), Contact (1997), Anna and the King (1999), Panic Room (2002), Flightplan (2005), Inside Man (2006), The Brave One (2007), Nim’s Island (2008), Carnage (2011), Elysium (2013), The Mauritanian (2021), and Nyad (2023), her best-known role is that of Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs, which also brought her her second Oscar. Recently, she also appeared in True Detective: Night Country.
But, while she has definitely gathered a large number of major roles, she has also – as you might have assumed – rejected and lost several other major roles, and from what we know now, one of these roles was a major Star Wars role.

Deemed one of the greatest actors in Hollywood, Denzel Washington exudes a classic movie star aura. Renowned for his enduring charm and the seamless blend of irony and sincerity in his iconic roles, Washington embodies the timeless essence of a Hollywood legend. He is also known for avoiding the franchise films, with the notable exception of The Equalizer trilogy.
A still from The Equalizer trilogy | Sony Pictures
He has also been commended for the same by being named the second-highest-grossing actor to not star in a franchise, following the Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio. However, Washington did not seem to mind the ranking, as he responded with a touch of wit.
Denzel Washington Has no Issues Losing to Leonardo DiCaprio
In a conversation with ScreenRant, Denzel Washington expressed his disinterest in sequels and potential franchise films, as he highlighted his approach of focusing on each film individually rather than considering potential sequels.

Ice Spice has joined the cast of Spike Lee’s upcoming film High and Low, as Variety reports. The project will serve as the rapper’s acting debut.
Announced in February, Lee’s High and Low is an English-language remake of Akria Kurosawa’s 1963 original, which itself was a loose adaptation of Ed McBain’s novel King’s Ransom, and is set to star Denzel Washington and feature Jeffery Wright. The project marks the fifth collaboration between Washington and Lee, with 2006’s Inside Man being their most recent meeting. A24, Escape Artists, and Mandalay Pictures are developing and producing the project, while Lee and Alan Fox penned the script.
Though there is not yet a release date for the project, it has officially begun production. Once complete, A24 is set to distribute the film theatrically, followed by a global launch on AppleTV+, as Apple Original Films has partnered as a co-financier.

A car crash interview with a delusional prince, a new series adaptation featuring Patricia Highsmith’s most infamous creation, the second part of Zack Snyder’s pricey space opera and a paranormal detective show set within Neil Gaiman’s celebrated Sandman universe are among the big titles hitting Netflix in April.

He may not have walked away with an Oscar this year, but Jeffrey Wright is hot off the acclaim of his Academy Award-nominated film American Fiction and has been reported by Deadline to be joining Denzel Washington for Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of the Akira Kurosawa film High and Low. The remake of the 1963 crime thriller will come from a joint production from Apple and A24 Films. It is not yet announced what role in the film that Wright will be portraying as of yet.
In addition to American Fiction, Wright also starred in the Oscar-nominated film Rustin for Netflix. He appeared in last year’s Asteroid City from Wes Anderson, who he also worked with on The French Dispatch. He would garner three Emmy nominations for his role as Bernard Lowe on HBO’s Westworld. Vicky Cristina Barcelona star Rebecca Hall was one of the buzziest names to feature on the BBC’s recent 12-strong drama slate and the BAFTA winner can now be seen in first look images playing a teacher in Element Pictures’ The Listeners.
Adapted by the novel’s author Jordan Tannahill, Hall’s character Claire is tormented by a low humming sound that no one else around her can hear. This seemingly innocuous noise gradually upsets the balance of her life, increasing tension between herself and her husband, Paul, and daughter, Ashley. But despite multiple doctors, no obvious source or medical cause can be found.
Scroll down for more pics, including another of Hall and one of Ollie West (Hamnet), who plays student Kyle and can also hear the sound.
Also starring in the series, which was filmed in Greater Manchester, are Prasanna Puwanarajah, Amr Waked (Ramy), Gayle Rankin, Mia Tharia (Phoenix Rise), Franc Ashman, Samuel Edward Cook, Karen Henthorn, Lucy Sheen (Ping Pong) and Ian Mercer.
Deadline revealed the show’s development last March and Poor Things producer Element is making it with Janicza Bravo – whose past credits include Zola, Mrs America and Them – directing. Hall is also starring in James L. Brooks’ next movie Ella McCay and Tessa Thompson’s similarly-named helpline drama The Listener. Fremantle is distributing The Listeners.
Rebecca Dundon, SVP Scripted Content, International at Fremantle said: “The Listeners is a thriller like no other that will surprise, provoke and challenge the status quo.”

Samantha Morton, the British actor (She Said, The Whale, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Walking Dead), writer (I Am…Kirsty) and director (The Unloved), received the BAFTA Fellowship, the British Academy’s highest honor at the BAFTA Film Awards in London on Sunday. But the outspoken star used her moment on stage to share very emotional words about children who live in poverty or who can’t live safely at home.
“For me, this is really nothing short of a miracle,” Morton said about receiving the honor, recalling how she was “hungry” and “cold” as a kid growing up in poverty.
“Film changed my life, it transformed me,” she continued. “When I first saw Ken Loach’s Kes… I was forever changed” seeing “poverty, people like me, my life and my family on the screen,” she said. Her conclusion: “Representation matters.”

Christopher Nolan finally won a BAFTA Film Awards honor on Sunday, two as a matter of fact, breaking what some admirers had lovingly described as a “curse.”
After all, the director, one of the most prolific and best known British film exports, had previously lost out on picking up a BAFTA trophy. Nolan had received three nominations for his 2010 hit Inception, but the movie lost out to The King’s Speech in the best film race, while David Fincher earned the best director honor for The Social Network and David Seidler won the best original screenplay BAFTA for The King’s Speech.
In 2018, Nolan was also in the running for the best picture and director awards from the British Academy for his 2017 film Dunkirk. In that case, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri was honored as the best film, and Guillermo del Toro walked away with the director trophy for The Shape of Water.

Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham performed a very emotional and heartfelt rendition of Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” at the BAFTA Film Awards on Sunday, adding a somber note to the British Academy’s big annual ceremony.
Organizers had announced a musical performance by Waddingham on the biggest night in British film, following the star’s Apple TV+ Christmas special Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas, but they didn’t announce details ahead of time.
Dressed in a black dress, the actress sang while pictures of some of the film industry greats who had died over the past year, including the likes of Michael Gambon and Carl Weathers.
The fact that Friends star Matthew Perry wasn’t shown in the segment led to criticism on social media. But BAFTA responded on X, saying: “Matthew Perry will be remembered in this year’s TV Awards ceremony.” The Academy also shared the...

Who says film awards ceremonies can’t also be fun and surprising? Sunday’s BAFTA Film Awards ceremony in London, hosted by Scottish actor David Tennant (Doctor Who, Inside Man), had members of the crowd in a state of surprise thanks to an unannounced appearance, on roller skates, by Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed, performing as Mr. Swallow, his alter ego from England’s Leeds, a character he has portrayed across stage and TV for more than a decade.
For those not familiar with the character, he quipped that he was a mix of British ice skaters “Torvill and Dean and the crab from The Little Mermaid.” He also described Ted Lasso as “a TV horror about biscuits and the effects of having a mustache on your mental health.”

Actor Denzel Washington and director Spike Lee announced they are joining forces once more, the first time in 18 years, for a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime thriller “High and Low.” The duo have collaborated four times previously, on “Mo’ Better Blues,” “Malcolm X,” “He Got Game,” and, most recently, “Inside Man.”
“High and Low” was originally based on the novel “King’s Ransom” by the prolific American author Ed McBain. McBain was a nom de plume for Evan Hunter, who also wrote “The Blackboard Jungle” (adapted to a popular film with a significant early turn by Sidney Poitier) and was a co-screenwriter of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds.”

Spike Lee and Denzel Washington are set to re-team for a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime thriller High And Low.
Denzel Washington has recently finished up work on Gladiator 2 for Ridley Scott and we know that at some point, he’s set to play Hannibal in Antoine Fuqua’s take on the mighty conqueror – you know, the elephant-riding, Rome-conquering one whose name still rings throughout history.
We don’t yet know when Hannibal will go before cameras but we do now know it won’t be Washington’s next project.
Instead, Washington will be working with another key collaborator: Spike Lee.
The duo are set to make their fifth film together according to The Hollywood Reporter. What’s more, it’s set to be a remake of an Akira Kurosawa movie.
Apple Studios and A24 have joined forces to back the project with A24 putting the film out for theatrical release.

"Mo Better Blues." "Malcolm X." "He Got Game." "Inside Man." It is always an event when Spike Lee and Denzel Washington team up for a movie, and they always, always deliver. "Mo Better Blues" suffered from being Lee's follow-up to his masterpiece "Do the Right Thing," but its critical reputation has improved significantly over time. "Malcolm X" is probably the second most important (and brilliant) film about race next to "Do the Right Thing." "He Got Game" is an electric-yet-harrowing father-son drama set against the wanton corruption of college basketball. And "Inside Man" is just a plain old pip of a heist movie, one that makes you wish Lee would place his stylistic spin on more straight-up genre stories.
According to Variety, Lee is set to tackle one of the most masterfully crafted cop tales ever made, and you best believe he's re-teaming with Washington to bring it off.

A pact between Apple Original Films, A24, Spike Lee, and Denzel Washington is making noise this Thursday with news about a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime drama High and Low. Lee and Washington are old friends, of course, with the duo’s fourth collaboration being for 2006’s Inside Man.

Following Mo’ Better Blues, Malcolm X, He Got Game, and Inside Man, Spike Lee and Denzel Washington are planning a reunion. With the director being on the longest break between narrative features since his debut in 1986, having last helmed 2020’s Da 5 Bloods, it’s now been unveiled he will direct a reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low.
Variety reports that Washington will lead the project, scripted by Alan Fox and Spike Lee, and backed by Apple Original Films and A24. Based on Ed McBain’s novel King’s Ransom, the original film starred Toshiro Mifune as a wealthy industrialist whose family becomes the target of a ruthless kidnapper.
High and Low will also mark Lee’s second high-profile remake after his 2013 feature Oldboy. With production beginning this spring, a theatrical release has also been confirmed––which we imagine will take place in 2025––followed by an Apple TV+ global bow.

The thriller, which starts production in March, is the English-language reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s crime thriller of the same name. The 1963 film starring Toshiro Mifune was based on the Ed McBain novel “King’s Ransom,” which chronicles the ruin of a businessman following a ransom payment to kidnappers.
Developed and produced by A24, Escape Artists and Mandalay Pictures, “High and Low” features a script written by Alan Fox and Spike Lee.
As Apple is a co-financier on “High and Low,” this project will not be included in a recent multi-year deal that A24 brokered with competing streaming service Max last year, sources familiar with the movie said. The...
