Best episode of the season (IMO)

Warning: Spoilers
This is my third time through The Wire, I binge watch it every 4/5 years to give myself a chance to forget most of the stuff! I remember the main storyline, who dies and 'who kills who' etc but the one that really got me this watch through was Bubbles.

His entire character arc through all seasons is incredible, and I was almost in tears at his drug counselling when he mentioned Sherrod. Like Waylon (played by the one and only Steve Earle) said, Bubbles almost wanted to have 'the bugggg' as he blamed himself for the death of both his closest friends. I also cannot put into words the acting from Bubs (and every one in the show to tell the truth) but with Bubbles, you feel every single emotion on show at that time.

The scene with Marlo, Chris, Cheese and Monk just after arrest is also one of my favourites! Or the unforgettable scene with Michael and Snoop in the car.

It just truly is an amazing episode, McNulty's about to face reality, Kima is about to break the most sacred police code, The Sun newspaper's infighting, the mayor turning in to EXACTLY what he didn't want to, Michael going in hiding. And finally Marlo arrested.

That's the thing with The Wire, SO MUCH happens all the time, it literally keeps your eyes absolutely pinned to the screen in case you miss something. They were never scared of killing of big characters, never did any of the 'Hollywood scenes' for added excitement, they never needed to, and the show sure as hell never strayed away from it's raw, street feel, from the corners, to the police, to the judiciary, to the senate.

I cannot wait to watch it again in a few years.

This episode is better than 99.9% of films made.

A classic episode of television.

It is impossible to give details about any of this story without spoiling, but it's safe to say that it is a powerful rollercoaster of emotions with great attention paid to character details.

A lot of the writing over five seasons has built towards certain moments in this one. Characters such as Reginald, Michael, Dukie, Bug, Snoop, Marlo, Lester, Sydnor, Greggs, McNulty, Bunk, Daniels, Carcetti, and Clay Davis have some unforgettable moments. Some characters not shown for a while appear brilliantly.

So many actors do great work it's difficult to pick a standout, but for me Andre Royo is magnificent in a truly iconic moment for his character.

As ever the cinematography, editing, and art direction are top drawer.

Warning: Spoilers
This was a really good penultimate episode. It's a shame because this proves that the show still has the potential to make this kind of episode, but slow and uninteresting plot lines really take their toll. First of all I want to mention the really amazing speech that Bubbles makes. I've said this a couple of times already but Andre Royo has truly given one of the best TV performances I've ever seen. This episode was like a finale in its own right. Marlo and his crew got done in for good, the Snoop and Chris assassin duo is over (Snoop's death was probably my favourite in the show), and McNulty has been pretty much busted. I'm looking forward to what happens to him, and I'm sure the next episode will probably focus on the mess he's made. This episode also showed a few characters and their differing fates upon exiting the game. Namon is doing very well for himself now as a student, and even last episode showed Poot working a real job. Michael, though, is on the run, and Dukie just is about to go down a very dark rabbit hole. I like when the show revisits older characters like that because it definitely keeps up the realism factor it's so good at. This was definitely one of the show's best episodes

Hard-Hitting...

The penultimate episode of The Wire's fifth season is killing me. Why is it killing me? Because I am so close to the end, and I know that I am going to miss this show terribly.

I give a shout out to the actor who plays Dookie. He is pretty incredible, and the fates of his and Michael's characters are definitely pretty heartbreaking. It's just really hard for me to watch the final scenes (not to mention that Andre Royo is also pretty incredible and his scenes hit me like a brick). I am excited for the finale, but in a way also dreading it in the worst possible way. What am I going to do when it ends?

Title ^^^

this was one of the best episodes of television I have ever watched. Not ready for the finale if it is better than this. There is so much packed into this one episode and the acting was tremendous throughout, I don't understand anything less than a 9
