Good

Jack races to the Czech Republic to stop the detonation of the nuclear device Sokol. Petr and Luka's secrets are revealed in a deadly reckoning, and their pasts are unsealed. Jack must act fast; time is of the essence. He races against the clock, determined to succeed in saving the day. His actions are crucial indeed. Jack struggles with all his might to stop the detonation and save the day from the dangers that threaten to fray the peace.

It's a shame that John Krasinski has to deal with criticism for this role because he genuinely brings his A-game, and I find it very believable. However, some cannot look beyond his past and therefore find him unconvincing.

Rating: 7.5/10 (Good)

Story Arc is as if Tom Clancy wrote it except for the simple errors

A Clear and Present Danger with the Cardinal of the Kremlin trying to prevent the Sum of all Fears

Overall - season 3 has been the best so far with elements of actual Tom Clancy plots to drive the story.

The writers have finally capture the intrigue and suspense that is synonymous with Jack Ryan lore unfortunately they fail to prevent the simplest of errors from occurring such as a CIA station chief calling a Navy Admiral "General".

Perhaps this is only one minor mistake but one that Tom Clancy would not have made.

Look forward to the conclusion of the season and to better attention to detail next season.

Episode 306

Warning: Spoilers
Well, I kept asking for that big splash and that big moment and we got it here as we had Jack and the team pull out all of the stops to prevent a big terrorist attack from happening. It was gripping television and yet it did not take too long, the action and the stunt was condensed pretty well which made it even better.

Michael Bay executive produced The Last Ship which did some action stunts like this and it worked efficiently here. They finally used this long-running Russia/US story to give us some high-quality action. Now hopefully they have a few more tricks up their sleeves the rest of the way.

Weird logic gap in episode but still good season
LightningB27 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This might be my favorite season so far. Like the pacing and enjoying the story but.........there is a part in the climatic action scene that makes zero sense.

Ryan has idea for military convoy to leave last truck in tunnel to prevent\block suicide bomber following them trying to catch up to them. But the rest of the convoy drives away so the 2 soldiers in that last truck get out once they stop and have to run rest of way out of tunnel.

Ryan realizes they won't make it out in time, commandeers one of the other convoy vehicles as they come out of tunnel, goes back in to get them and barely makes it out.

So the obvious question is why didn't another vehicle in convoy stay with that last truck and just pick up those 2 soldiers and take them out with them? Could've easily given them a ride but our major plan is reliant on these guys just running?

We need Ryan to be a hero sure but seems like a dozen better ways to come up with that would have made way more sense.

Like I said still like this season and overall this episode was good, but that glaring gap in common sense drops it a couple notches to 6.

Showdown in the Tunnel
lavatch24 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode, the truth is finally told about the mastermind of the Sokol project, and it is a double revelation. First, the mastermind was Petr Kovac. Second, Petr Kovac is the mystery man named Lebedev, who was shot by Luka, but escaped the original site of the building of the Sokol warhead in 1969.

The centerpiece of this episode is a race against the clock to avoid the detonation of the nuclear warhead in a small town of the Czech Republic. The quick-thinking Jack Ryan devises a plan to crash the vehicle carrying Sokol in the middle of a tunnel. The warhead may detonate but without mass casualties.

When Alena finally meets her father, she discovers that he has been shot by Luka. A tourniquet has been applied to stop the bleeding. In a shocking moment, Alena decides to the pull the tourniquet and let her father bleed to death. She has come to believe that her father is a monster.

This episode plays out like a false ending. The main dramatic issues have been resolved, yet there apparently are more details of Operation Crossbow that have been unleashed. Jack and Luka must now prevent the Russians from a retaliatory response.

Good story but idiotic rescuing scene.

Warning: Spoilers
Overall it's a nice episode, some character development, lots of action in a variety of nicely chosen locations with great pacing.

The great production value and multinational European setting still remain as the highlight of the series.

Acting wise everyone had their moments, but of course, in-between so many action scenes there's not too much place to show personal hights and lows.

Also the music stands out in this episode. It develops same as the story does by sounding more epic with every episode.

But why the heck had those two truck drivers walk through the tunnel instead of directly jumping into the others car?

Of course, simply to give Jack the possibility to do do some unnecessary hero stuff.

The explosion was cool though!

Bit silly, no? 😂

Warning: Spoilers
What a brilliant mind Jack Ryan is. As has been pointed out already, it's laughably stupid that the two soldiers start running instead of simply stopping two trucks and hop aboard. However, my biggest issue with the series (apart from Jack Ryan being closer to Jack Bauer than actually Jack Ryan) is the fact every Russian speaks English, even when they are talking to each other. I get that subtitles are hard for some people, but it's just so silly, especially with these accents.

The production value is great, the pacing and tension are good, I like the general spy thriller setup, but it's such a silly and stupid plot at times with questionable ethics.

Warning: Spoilers
Now we get that lady boss is not that bad and by helping jack she put her career on the line.. and the big boss, always of course a white male, the CIA director is trying desperately to save his ass, blame everything on jack and is ignoring everything about that nuclear warhead..

i dunno, it is too much.. even with all that evidence.. I understood the director not believing the braveheart guy, old dog that was part of the government and is proficient in lying... sure but when the other russian, that guy that went to mike for extraction, even with his testimony and probably lots of evidence.. the guy still did not care? Nahh i dont buy it.

But the warhead going off at that small town.. well, the action was great.

Ukranian boss babe is fed up with her annoying father and lets his tourniquet loose so he can just die.. well played..

talking about plays, lady cia boss babe finally was able to make the coward white male boss show his true colors and get his place and the big boss.. now imagine if we were to have the opposite happening.. lol... male white underling pushing aside the coward black female boss... i know, not happening anytime soon in this woke culture thing.. alright..

overall, an ok episode.. let us hope jack can bring it home.

Terrible writing
dchrisbowe1 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The tunnel seen was the dumbest thing I have seen in a long time.

Why would they tell the US convoy to slow down and let the nuke get closer to them?

Why would the guys in the last truck walk out of the tunnel when their convoy could have driven them out?

Why did the helicopter land right outside of the tunnel? It served no porpoise other than to setup Jack hijacking a car for no reason.

Why would Jack pull the guy out of his vehicle, when the guy already in the vehicle could have turned around?

Absolutely no logic at all in that sequence.

Ruined the whole season. This season has not been as good as the last ones.

Action for action sake
morrisonproductions23 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Those two dudes could have hitched a ride with another truck in the convoy. One of several other instances this season of action precipitated by the weakest of plot threads. Like Jack Ryan being on the run in the first police. There was no just reason behind higher up white dude pinning the death of scientist dude on Ryan when the evidence he was provided was more than enough to suggest that Ryan was onto something. All that said, as nonsensical as the plotting of this show is, it is oddly difficult to stop watching and this is coming from someone with zero problem putting down a 1000 page book at page 900.

How does something this dumb make it out of the writer's room?
ultimate_ed5 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Other's have mentioned it, thankfully. But, this is one of those occasions when I feel the need to pile on. I rarely write reviews on single episodes like this.

But, WTH was up with that climax in the tunnel? Jack's "brilliant" plan suffered from two major flaws:

First - why did he have the convoy slow down? At first I thought it was to lure the nuke truck into catching up with them so they could turn on it in a controlled manner. But, no. All that did was give less time for the two guys in the explosives truck to escape.

Which feeds directly into the second point - How did anybody expect the two guys to run a mile on foot to the end of the tunnel after blocking the passage with their truck? And why would that even been considered where there were two HMMWV's in the convoy that could carry them?

Of course, the reason seams to be so that Jack could do something heroic and put himself in more danger.

He just ends up looking like an idiot, as does everyone else who didn't think to question him. It's little wonder they didn't tell us the plan on screen ahead of time.

How does Jack do it?
dierregi8 August 2023
You see Jack jumping from an helicopter, his hair blowing and messed up by the strong wind. In the next scene, Jack sports his usual pompadour, with his trademark mound of hair sticking up. Does he waste time rearranging his hair with a miracle tube of gel he carries in his pockets?

Jack's pants are quite tight, therefore I don't see how he could carry the gel, but his hair is always perfectly styled, better than a lady. It sorts of detracts from the grit of some scenes.

As other mentioned, this episode was quite thrilling but the guys running in tunnel and Jack coming to rescue was pretty silly. They just needed the last truck in the convoy to stop one moment and wait for them. That was a better plan.
