Away from big groups in TWD and onto the solitude the apocalypse has brought most people, this episode was a refreshing start of a new season of FTWD. Lennie James as Morgan was as usual a great performance and I'm glad they brought him over to FTWD where he can take a bigger role in the story. I always felt his character could use more spotlight and I'm glad this is where we are heading.
Hopefully they can keep this up this season and don't turn it into the same group vs. group story-line we see in TWD. I would love to see more of this deserted settings and the tough battle for survival.

Hardcore Fear fans may not like it

To begin, I am not a hardcore FTWD fan. I know pretty much all the key moments that have happened throughout the first 3 seasons but I never found myself tuning in every week.
With that said, the Morgan centric episode tonight was the best FTWD episode to date. I really enjoyed the crossing of The Walking Dead characters in the beginning when they met with Morgan in the junk yard.
I thought they did a good job showing/explaining why Morgan decided to leave Virginia. I really did enjoy the new characters with the likes of Al and John. They seem like likeable and cool characters.
Throughout the episode, I loved how it felt like the classic walking dead world. More of the horror feel rather than a war feel. I thought it was really well done. The Walking Dead needs to get back to that too.
Finally, the ending of the episode had our new characters and Morgan being surrounded by the Fear characters in the middle of the street after Alicia acted hurt in the middle of the road.
All in all, I really feel like a lot of hints were dropped between Morgan and Al (when she is recording him) that FTWD and TWD will crossover with one another eventually. It just makes sense at this point. I can see Morgan leading his new friends back to Virginia just in time to help Rick and the group with the Whisper problem they may be having at the end of season 9. Or I could totally see Morgan's new group meeting up with people from Ricks group at the Common Wealth, located in Ohio, in season 9 or 10. It just depends where both shows go.

I gotta say, I wasn't looking forward to this episode due to all the promotion of Morgan, and I was right to think that. This show is focused on Madison's family. For them to have the SEASON 4 premiere centred on a character from the main show is just ridiculous for people who don't watch that. They are expected to see the aftermath of the amazing, explosive Season 3 finale, but they didn't. Instead we got an hour long episode of Morgan's travel to Texas.
However, that's not to say its a bad episode. It was mediocre. I loved the introduction of John and Althea - unique and interesting characters, especially Althea with her recording life in the apocalypse like some kind of monk from the medieval ages.

Having the Morgan cross-over, I wasn't expecting too much this season from FTWD. I expected to see something on it's last legs. BUT...how great it is to be wrong (big smiley face)!! The cross-over was superbly done (no spoilers from me) and even though Mr. James will be greatly missed in TWD, I'm already liking Morgan more in Fear. And Maggie Grace was a refreshing surprise, let's hope she lasts for a while.
Now the best bit (again, big smiley face). Garret Dillahunt!!!! OMG!! I was so disapointed when he didn't get the Negan role, I'd have loved to have seen him in TWD. This is even better. His acting is brilliant and his character even better. I already know that I'm going to boycott the show if they get rid of him. (Ok, I probably won't but that's the excitement talking).
If this first episode is anything to go by, we're in for a great FTWD this season, and hopefully the standard will stay the same throughout.
Well done to all involved - just a shame I can't give bigger than the 10 out of 10 as this premier blew me away. (Big smiley face again!!).
Fear breathes new life into The Walking Dead Universe

When I heard a main character from The Walking Dead was heading over to little sister show Fear, I assumed because it was going to be filmed in Texas that Abraham would made the journey. This worried me because it's hard to care about a character who's dead in TWD. Finding out it was going to be Morgan was a pleasant surprise.
Apart from maybe Andrew Lincoln who plays Rick Grimes, Lennie James who's been in many of the The Walking Dead's best episodes (the pilot, the brilliant Clear and bottle Morgan episode where he meets the Zen master) is the show's best actor in my opinion. His portrayal of a battled weary apocalyptic soldier suffering from PTSD has been hard to watch at times, but its been mesmerizing.
Its a delight to see him in action in a more light-hearted show.
Place a man like Morgan who's at the end of his tether in Fear The Walking Dead, introduce a gunslinger cowboy called John Dorie ("ie, not y like the fish") and a hard-ass journalist in a customised walker killing machine in the shape of Al, and you don't just have our fave staff wielding hero smiling again, you also have Walking Dead fans who've been weighed down by the misery of the big show grinning away.
Fear by bringing in these three amazing characters has shown us how good a zombie show can be, reminding us of the good old days in The Walking Dead before the poorly written Negan storyline that turned what should have been a great character into a caricature whilst making other smart characters do dumb things that's lost the show so many viewers.
Ironically this belter of a premiere for season four of Fear The Walking Dead is only ruined by the last few minutes when Nick, Alicia, Strand and Luciana turn up wielding weapons and looking like refugees from a Mad Max movie. Hopefully the show won't switch its focus back to the Clark family at the expense of the ever excellent Morgan and his fun new friends John Dorie and Althea (call me Al) because the newest members of the Fearverse are more entertaining than the Clarks ever were and that's coming from someone who thought last season's Fear was better than TWD.
Respect is also due to the production team for an episode that was beautiful shot making the apocalyptic landscape look like a Western.
Now give us more Morgan, John Dorie and Althea. Please and thank you for a job well done.

Morgan crossover the walking dead to fear the walking dead Morgan use the grenade put it on the walker and the whole exploded and Althea use the machine to shoot the walkers killed them all and she was video taping Morgan about his story about Alexandria and the kingdom and he said we won the war and at the end nick and strand and Alicia Luciana first met Morgan told them to drop it great writing great acting i am giving it a 10/10

The walking dead is my life. Fear the walking dead has not been despite me watching every episode but looks like all that is changing. This is the very best of both shows put into one. Fear original fans but not be happy but went ratings dive drastic measures must be taken and this is certain to rise them again. This new show is sure to cure my post walking dead finale blues.

Now that is how you reboot a tv-franchise on the verge of self annihilation. Season eight of The Walking Dead was almost like a comedy in how bad it was written. The Fear of The Walking Dead was an alright season up until the the end when it became rather laughable how an 18-year old girl suddenly started running a ranch with hundreds of more experienced people. So this reboot, because that is what it is, was a rather welcome thing. I mean kill off Rick already. And Madison "I've got to protect my children" has been annoying from day one. I'm glad they killed off Travis in last season and I hope Madison is next to go. I thought the new and colorful characters were a welome addition to FTWD as I have never connected much to the Clark family. I hope this will make FTWD what TWD should have become but didn't. For the first time in many years I am excited about a new season. Don't let me down AMC.

Last season of FTWD turned a lot of people off. Let's face it, most people who have skills, health and mindset to survive would not, but NO ONE without them would survive, yet we had a suburban mom, a junkie, etc surviving. We had people living with no fresh water (the primary human need after air), in fact two sets of people without water, simply staying where there was no water. We've had these utterly hamhanded and laughable attempts at metaphors concerning immigration, native rights, guns, and of course, hollywood's most tired trope -- portraying the US military as evil.
Morgan's journey in this episode is a much needed injection of TWD sensibilities into FTWD, a return to roots.

Well that was a shock to the system, I fully expected this episode to be the typical "watch in background while doing something else" viewing we've come to expect from this series after it's steep decline from the promising series 1 but this one was half watchable. I like the new characters, the cowboy is good, and why hadn't they thought of that before, combining one of america's best loved characters with the new frontier of zombie land.
The journalist capturing stories was also an interesting take, although let's not think to much about how she runs her gas guzzling swat vehicle on a daily basis in drained zombieland.
I'm not expecting them to keep it up but this was a nice surprise.

A huge departure from the tone and style that makes FTWD unique from its predecessor. Extremely disappointing as a fan of FTWD and the Clark family to be forced to sit through a story that involves them none whatsoever, and focuses on a character that (it feels like) the writers keep trying to force down our throats over and over again, despite his lack of likeability. I hope this new direction doesn't continue for the rest of the season.

From the bossy Mom ( never in doubt but often wrong) ..the Junky son, "warrior dad" too afraid to be tough...FTWD has been a poor substitute for the plot, characters, and general excellence of the parent series. Hope they stick with this, obviously we are now in the same timeline, Please don't let whomever was responsible for the annoying characters & general stupidity back at the helm.

With the main show becoming predictable and poorly written this episode of Fear starts something different. This episode was written really well and the characters met in the episode where also very interesting. I just hope this level of writing and story telling can stay throughout the season because the past seasons of Fear where definitely a bore-fest with mostly uninteresting characters that I didn't care for.

First of all let me tell you, I absolutely hate this spin off. Up until this point, I think it was boring, badly written and pointless in general. I don't like the characters and their storyline. I mean, they made them so they look like complete idiots and to get on your nerves every single episode. From the first day at the LA to cowboy ranch who fight Indians in post apocalyptic time.
Madison is FTWD's Carol and that's just enough reasons to don't like her, we don't need to continue with nonsenses that follows her. Nick storyline is also problematic on many levels, but let's put all that on the side for a moment.
This episode is something else, something different, something that should've happen long time ago. First, the introduction. We needed to fell that connection with the main story. Public need to see that this Mexican telenovela is going somewhere.
Camera and photography are great. The transition into monotone colors couldn't came in any better moment. After the scenes at Junkyard we get some moments with Morgan on the road, great stuff. I just didn't believe that something like this is coming from the same project. That "The Road" and "The Book of Eli" moments were just amazing. The entire episode is full of symbolic and I like that, especially the scenes on the road. Lennie James is really good and they definitely made the right choice with him and his narrative.
New characters may be something good. Journalist and her truck are a really good move. We'll see which direction it will go. Even if the end of the episode is something that we saw many times (unaccountably being idiot after living in post apocalyptic zombie era for quite sometime) I rated this 10, although, as I said is not really a ten but I was thrilled and surprised so, I felt generously.

After that horrible season of TWD, this episode was quite refreshing, we can finally see Morgan on the right path with a new background, new kinda intresting characters, i loved it, it got me back to the days when I actually enjoyed this zombie end of the world. There are some minuses here and there, I don't actually know if jumping in time is good for FTWD yet , but my hopes are high up, and I hate that we did not have the chance to see Alyson in this episode, besides that there are some minor unlikeable things but rouding it up it was satisfying.

Just watched that episode after TWD Season 8 final "throw".
I love it!
That's the spirit. That's what I want to see.
I am a little confused with the timeline even if Morgan did somehow manage to cross a good part of the country. I am not sure if this is actually possible. But even if it's not possible. I am fine with it.
There is actually only one other meeting I was more anticipating than Morgan VS Nick and that would have been Carol VS Nick. Overall I think that this is a great opening for a new season and that it leaves many possibilities open for upcoming episodes.
So I will leave a great THANK YOU here to the showmakers of FTWD for giving that awesome universe a second breath.
Looking forward to watch the next episode.

After a good first season ( 5 episodes)
Fear the Walking Season 2 and Season 3 have some of the worst seasons that I have ever seen on TV... The writting was horrible, boring, the athmosphere just didnt feel like Walking dead, acting was really bad and thé characters boring af. Only Nick and Daniel were holding the show, madison and allison and all the other are horrible.
Overall quality Season 2 and 3 = 6/10 But then comes is "Whats your story"... And OMG, the genius writting from the Walking dead is back ( from the first 8 Seasons at least) ,camera work was fantastic through the whole episode, the way its directed... Also the colors of the Walking dead are back, a darker athmosphere, like its supposed to be.
Like i told my wife, the first scene of the episode was better than the entire season 2 and 3, and i mean it. It was Classic, tension suspence, clever writting the entire episode, at some point i even compare this episode to a better call Saul episode ( when we see the snake and 10 minutes later we understand why) The writters tried everything to save The disaster that was Fear thé Walking dead, by bringing the great Rick grimes in it, also carole and Jesus, and it works, i was in it again.
But its more than that, i was in it After 1 minute Morgan is a great character, his new friend seems to be such a great one too, in one episode i already Care for him more than any of the Clark boring family.

Morgan is that you? Damn. Seeing Carol and Rick too is amazing. The guy Morgan met seems to be very lonely, kinda feel sad about him. Wow I didn't expect that I would see a post-apocalyptic reporter, makes no sense really. The zombie make-up seems different than previous seasons. The villains of this episode are not very impressive. The scene inside the house full of walkers was cool. Morgan is injured but he keeps going, nothing can stop him. The dude literally came out of nowhere to save Morgan from the walkers. So I have to believe that this woman drives around in this super vehicle interviewing people post-apocalypse? So dumb. Oh boy, Nick, Victor, Alicia and Luciana meet Morgan? So cool. Where is Madison though? Such a cool way to end the episode. So I guess the whole point of this episode was to introduce Morgan and also some other characters (we don't really care about). I mean they are ok, they are likeable. Based on the ending of the episode they will probably become part of the FTWD team. Anyway while this episode wasn't a masterpiece it was very decent. My rating is 7.4/10.

This was the season premiere of Fear, yet there was no essence of the show. This episode centered on Morgan and there was nothing that brought the shows together until the last 45 seconds of the show. I hope the show doesn't continue focusing on Morgan

Morgan as a character I loved, I remember watching him show up at the end of season 5 and was so pleased he became a regular and an integrule part of season 6-8. FTWD has always been "That" kind of show where it has its moments but its outshined by the bad (Take seasons 1 n 2 for instance) Fear always struggled to find its indentity but I feel like it really tried to with season 3 and despite that season being the strongest of the 7, Fear really needed a face, and Morgan was it! I know the ratings aren't amazing and don't get better, but I always loved Morgan as a character and cannot wait to see where his character goes now that hes found himself in another world!
