Life Is Strange (2015 Video Game)
9/10
Disappointed with the depressing ending.
12 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a pretty big fan of story-based games and this was no exception. Max is pretty good person while Chloe is kind of a dick but still has a good heart, so they contrasted well. I was a big fan of both of them but the decision at the end of the game was pretty unfair and doesn't really make much sense. She started having visions before she got her powers and, in the bathroom, I don't understand why she can't try to save Chloe without using rewind, it could have fixed everything. The ending also felt a bit rushed and needed more dialogue.

Anyways the background characters could have been explored more, Nathans main trait is just being an asshole and I don't think they portray him well, he seems like an annoying 4chan troll rather than a murderer with severe mental issues. I wish the game was longer and the background characters were explored. I don't think her time travel powers were clearly defined, but I appreciated that it was related to photograph since it's her passion. The animation was pretty spectacular, and the game was easy to play, I got stuck on a few parts mainly because I'm very bad at video games. The voice actors were perfect and fit the characters extremely.

Last 40 minutes is excellent
20 November 2021
The 1st hour of the movie is boring and mostly consists rich white people acting weird and being very racist. The last 40 minutes is really good and suspenceful. I thought this would be a horror movie but its a mystery thriller. Rod Williams was my favourite characte by far..

Code Geass (2006–2008)
8/10
Code Geass Review
15 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I dropped this last year after watching an episode. My reason for this is that the animation looked weird. 1 year later, I returned back to this anime. Here is the review.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion is about an estranged 17-year-old boy that has been given supernatural power. He wants to find out about his mother's death and keep his sister safe. It is animated by Sunrise who also animated Cowboy Bebop and Gintama.

The story of Code Geass Season 1 is mostly filled with fighting and school shenanigans. The anime has mechas and a lot of warfare, I didn't find it repetitive. The starting of the anime was sudden but when you discover Lelouch's past it makes sense. I personally didn't the school parts. They were used for comic relief and to show Lelouch's friends and how he struggled to keep his identity unknown. The comic relief was mostly filler and unimportant. The fanservice was very cringy but good for bonding. I would like to know more about The Chinese Federation and E. U in the Second Season. Overall the story was good.

Lelouch Lamperouge is the main character. He's quite the stereotypical protagananist with a revenge story and wanting to find out the truth. C. C is another important character. She is cold but loyal to Lelouch and thinks well of him. Kallen is one of Lelouch's important soldiers. She is quite annoying a decent character. The characters in the Britannian army were ok. I thought that they got too much screentime and that the Japanese side should have got more, I thought the romance plot with Villetta was pointless. I was not interested in his classmates that much of which Shirley and the girl with glasses were my least favourite.

The start of Code Geass season 2 was disappointing. After a suspenseful ending, it's revealed that Lelouch lost his memory of being Zero and of his Geass. We are introduced to his new brother Rolo and to a arrange of characters with their memory stolen. I found the 1st half of S2 repetitive and boring. When the 2nd half happens everything gets going. The pacing is faster, there is more character development and more action. Lelouch, the protagonist is the most anti-hero propagandist I've ever seen. He's extremely well written and unevenly distributed as the most important character. C. C is my second favourite character. Her character bloomed during the season and instead of being a spectator (like in the first season), she has the power to change things and act by her moral compass. The romance plots were very boring.

The animation was quite good. I thought that they looked lanky and stick figure-ish was weird but I got used to it. The character designs were alright. The fights were rigid sometimes. The animation was quite good. The OP's and ED's always looked really good and the action was OK.

Season 1 OPs were amazing, Season 2 were pretty dissapointing but saved by good animation. I watched the Sub and the voice acting was very good. Sometimes it was pretty emotionless but I found it great. The ED's were lackluster and forgettable. The soundtrack was good.

In conclusion, This anime was fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone who likes an antihero protagonist and I will watch the remaining spinoff movies.

Berserk (1997–1998)
9/10
The reward for ambition too great is self destruction.
14 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Berserk is the 1st anime adaption of the long running manga by Kentarou Miura. It's Seinen with themes of action and adventure.

Berserk is about the protagonist Guts who recently has joined the Band of the Hawk. He becomes sucessful, travelling with them and matures throughout. It's 25 episodes and there were no problems with pacing. The story had a melancholy and dark feel to it. Griffith the leader of the band of the hawks was embodied this quite well. He was very comforing to his soldiers. Griffith was a perfect leader until he lost his edge. Then the show tranformed to dreamlike for the last 5 episodes. Indivisualism and reaching your goals were important to this anime. The fiighing in this gorey anime expressed meesages and emotions such as loneliness, determination and resillence. Gut swung his sword with incredible anger to kill his enemies. Guts presense increased uncertanty and ambition. His physical and mental strenght brought power to The Band of the Hawk. Casca was the most realistic character, she had practicality and became more assertive and becomes a great leader. Griffith and Guts become her love interest and it is quite generic.

Berserk is animated by OLM. The anmation is great and gory. The fights contain a lot of gore and sword fighting. The character desgins is quite medival and the desigins are great. The expressions were great.

I watched the Sub and it was ok. The voice acting was quite average and it relied on the animation to be expressive. The OP was great, I wish more OP's were only 1 minute long instead of 1 and a half. I didn't mind that it was in English. The ED was also great and the simple animation during it enhanced its quality. The soundtrack, overall was good.

In conclusion, I thought this anime was great. I would recommend this to older teenagers and adults that like violence and great main characters.

Dr. Stone (2019– )

Dr Stone is Exhilarating
2 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I dropped this anime around this time last year because I thought that Taiju would be the main character. I'm not one for dumb main characters and I hate this trope a lot. I was mistaken. Anyways, this is a review for the first 2 series.

Dr Stone is about an intelligent boy named Senkuu's attempt to.reverse the world from the apololympuc place they are now in. It is a Sci-fi, comedy, Shonen and is based on the manga by Riichiro Inagaki and. Boichi.

The story mainly revolves around the problems that Senkuu faces and how he solves them, with his friends. The first 5 episodes were really boring but after that the show gets good. It is kind of educational and teaches about chemistry. It was kind of simplistic in its teacheings its PG-13). The 1st season is quite slow but the pacing of the 2nd is more quicker as there's less episodes. The comedy was very funny and the happiness the characters felt was contageous.

The main character is. Senkuu. He is veey charasmatic and intelligent. He's a great leader for the Kindom of Science. Taiju is another important character. He doesn't appear for most of season 1 though. He is resilent, kind and blunt. He is Senkuu's best friend. The villege that Senkuu meats is full of nice people. The most skilled memeber at combat is Kohaku, which is related to the queen of the villege. In. Tsukasa Empire, they are more crueller to each other.

The animation of the anime was ok. It was very shiny. The character designs were good and I like Suika's mask. The characters were very expressionate and it was entertaining.

I watched the Sub and the voice acting was good. The English that wa sspoken in it was very weird and plasticky.

I skipped the 1st Op everytime. It was really bad. The 2nd was Ok but the 3rd was amazing. The animation through it was great too. The ED's were all average.

Monster (2004–2005)
7/10
Death is a normal thing, so why live?
20 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I found Monster on MyAnimeList top manga about a year ago.. It was high up so I gave it a try. I read up to a third of it before I dropped it. I found it painfully slow and I heard it had an anime adaption so I thought I could watch that instead. Here is the Review:

Monster is about a Japanese Neurosurgeon, Kenzou Tenma, quest to find a psychopathic former patient. Tenma gets framed for murders all throughout Germany and tries to clear his name. This anime is a crime/psychological/drama based on the manga by Naoki Urasawa.

The story of Monster was interesting. Every character was attracted to the mystery of Johan and the mystery of Tenma and everything was connected to each other. The pacing was quite slow, the Mr Schwald and the parts involving Suk were drawn out, Monster could have had a few less episodes. The show was mostly serious with a dark and grey theme, death was very common and the general aura was that everyone had a job to do and everyone had a moral code. The main characters dictated what would happen to everyone, and sometimes changed their role and moral code. There were roughly three perspectives in the show, one was the perspective of the average/ignorant person. The average person believed what the police told them about Tenma and were not too concerned about Tenma's journey. Another was Tenma's and his allies' perspectives. Their lives had been severely affected by Johan and they wanted to put a stop to him. These people shared the trust of Tenma and tried to help him. The last was Johan's goal was incomprehensible to anyone. The people that trusted him were extremely loyal, and feared him. They had faith that something good would happen. The writing and dialogue showed these perspectives clearly.

The animation was very crime show-like. Quite dull and sharp. The facial expressions of disgust and fear were used often. All the characters looked in place. Repetition of scenes were used through the end of Monster. The clothes they wore were plain and Mainland Europe like. I think this could have been a live action show, instead of animated.

The most important characters are Tenma, Johan and Anna Liebert and Mr. Lunge. Temna was a determined introvert, who radiated positive energy. He had a good impression on everyone he met. As the main character, he was fantastic. Johan was a distraught young person that was extremely charismatic and extremely sadistic. He was in control of his fate and of others. Anna was Johan's twin sister and they had a lot of experiences together. Anna was often used to find out more about Johan and to see inside his head and because of this, Johan often overshadowed her. Mr Lunge was the police officer of the BKA that investigated the crimes related to Tenma and Johan. He has an extremely poor work life balance and a calm demeanor.

I watched the Dub and I thought the voice acting was ok. Some of the voice acting was monotonous and flat. When they felt strong emotions, it felt like the voice actors were straining themselves. The OP was very boring and I skipped it,most of the time. The ED was worse and I wished more effort had been put into them. The soundtrack was pretty average.

Finally, I thought Monster was a pretty good anime that was drawn out too much. I am glad I watched it and I would recommend this to someone interested in Psychological Crime shows and for those that are interested in good anime.

Golden Boy (1995–1996)

Golden Boy Kintaro
11 August 2020
Golden Boy is a 6 episode ecchi, comedy anime. It is about an intelligent 25 year old man who goes from job to job.

The story was episodic and in each episode he finds a new job. The pacing of the OVA was perfect and had no problems. The show was really entertaining and I enjoyed it a lot. The anime is an ecchi so if had some 'ecchi moments' which I would prefer weren't in the series but it is what it is. The characters in the anime were great. The main character Kintaro was very likable and entertaining. He was also very smart. Each episode is basically about him and an 'attractive' Girl and his job.

The art style was very good. Kintaro showed a range of different facial expressions. The others character designs were very good as well. I watched the Sub and the voice acting was great. The OP and ED were not too good and were quite simple.

In conclusion, I would recommend this anime to someone looking for an good ecchi, comedy with likable characters.

INFERNO COP
11 August 2020
Inferno Cop is an action anime and it's animated by Trigger.

Inferno Cop is a serialized show where Inferno Cop gets into a lot of capers. He has to preserver through any challenge he is given. The animation is bad and very low effort and most of it is just still images moving around. The voice acting is not too bad but the female voices are terrible. It doesn't have an OP, only an ED and its good.

Eve no jikan (2008–2009)

Seriously Underrated
11 August 2020
Time of Eve is a Sci-Fi anime. It is set in future Japan and is about cyborgs.

So first of all the story was very good. It was mostly episodic and each episode was great and interesting. It is quite simplistic. I would have preferred a better ending as it felt unfinished but I think that it has one in the movie so ill check that out. The characters in the anime were all unique and interesting. The main character, Rikuo Sakisaka and his best friends exploits were funny and amusing.

The animation in this anime is amazing. It has many 'camera angles' (i don't know what to call them) that you can't see in any other anime. The animation is also quite fluid and fast. I watched the sub and the voice acting was good. The OP and ED were quite simplistic which I didn't mind but I would prefer if they put more effort into them.

In conclusion, I found this anime very entertaining with brilliant animation. I would recommend this to anyone intereted in anime with robot, android etc.

Psycho-Pass (2012–2019)

Not as good as GITS
11 August 2020
*please keep in mind that I have only watched season 1.

Psycho-Pass is a Sci-fi Police Anime. It first aired in 2012-2013 and is animated by Production IG.

The anime story was good in the first half but then it got worse in the second half. I would have preferred if the Sibyl system wasn't so prevalent because I did not care about it that much. I definitely would have preferred if it was just about catching criminals and then had some sci-fi undertones. The main villain was quite boring and I was not interested in him. Other then that the story was great.

I didn't like how the screen time was divided among the characters. The inspectors/enforcers screen time wasn't divided fairly and it bothered me. Akane Tsunemori was the main character and she was the focus a little too muvh, in the anime but besides that the characters were well written and were plentiful.

The animation was quite unique. It was very nice looking and was fitting. The backgrounds were amazing and it didn't overshadow the focus. The character designs were all great, especially Akane.

I watched the sub and it was fine. Both OP and ED was really good but I'd prefer only 1 ED/OP but its the norm to put 2 in a 20+ episode anime so that's fine.

In conclusion, I found it entertaining but with some serious problems. I might or might not continue this series in the future. I would recommend this anime to anyone wanting a Sci-Fi crime anime like GITS.

Death Parade (2015)

"Life is never fair. I'm sure you're well aware of that"
2 August 2020
Death Parade is an Mystery, Thriller, Game anime. It takes place in a strange bar, which a bartender decides the fate of the recently deceased.

The anime is episodic with a loose main story. It was quite messy and the pacing was off at times. The setting of the anime is quite unique but apart from that it follows popular anime tropes. I think that the anime should have had more comedy and it could have included more rules of the Afterlife, as I found the rules were too simplistic. I also would have preferred a more episodic show and the main story should have been less prevalent and more simpler. Apart from that, I found this anime well crafted and the dialogue great.

The characters in this anime were decent. I wished that the main characters could have acted in unexpected ways. Decim, the main character was my favourite character and he seemed intelligent and cold. Chiyuki, the other main character was caring but I would prefer if she was used more for comedic relief and was less prevalent in the anime. Some of the background characters were really unnecessary like the old man (Oculus) and Castra and they should have played a bigger part in the anime or not be in it at way. I would have preferred to see Ginti in the anime a lot more.

The animation in this anime is good. It fitted the theme very well and it had a lot of dark colours in this anime. The composition is great. The character design is also good but I found it hard to take Chiyuki because she looked like an emo/goth teen.

I watched the dub and I found the voice acting pretty good. I think they could have used better voice actors for some of the background characters but the main were fine. The OP of the anime is good but it doesn't fit the theme and I would prefer if they used a different OP. The ED was fine.

In conclusion, I found the anime enjoyable and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in Mystery anime.

7 Years
2 August 2020
The film is directed by Takeshi Koike. It took 7 years to animate. It is an Sci-Fi, Action, Racing movie.

The film was structured like the average racing movie with 3 parts. It was fast paced and the plot was quite messy. The was quite a bit of fanservice, which I did not like at all. The main characters had lazy and terrible backstories. They were also very unlikeable and I was not rooting for them. The Protagonist, JP was boring and could have better character development, his girl, friend and fellow racer Sonoshee is really annoying and all the other characters are really forgettable.

The animation took 7 years to animate, which is obviously a long time but it did not look that nice and it had terrible composition. They often added details too many unnecessary items. The character designs were very ugly and unappealing as well. I watched the Sub and the voice acting was below average and the soundtrack was decent.

This movie is quite forgettable and I'll probably never watch it again. I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone.

Above Average Ecchi
17 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid is an Yuri, ecchi, action anime. It is produced by Arms. It is about a 16 Year old named Mamori, who is contaminated with a virus, being sent to an Island with simular girls like her.

The show had decent pacing. The way that the story is written allows it to have a lot of fanservice. In the first 2/3's of the show, it is episodic, but then the they ended the show with a boring plot involving Mirei, the second main character and Momaka, the main villain, which ends the show with a boring fight. Anyways the fight had all the standard clichés and was nothing special. I would prefer if it kept things simple and It was just them having fun, instead of having some villain taking over the island.

The characters in the show had well defined strengths and weaknesses. There was decent character development. Mamori Tokonome was likable and a good main character. She doesn't really change during the series. Mirei Shikishima was also very likable and was mysterious. In the end of the show, she learns that having good friends is good. The main villain in the anime is Momoka Sagara and she is the typical villain. She has a backstory with Mirei and she is quite evil. In the end she learns that being evil is bad and stops being evil. The other characters are decent and are memorable.

The animation of this show was great. It is better animated than a lot of ecchi. The character designs of the show was decent, the main characters designs were the best. The fights or battles were 50% kissing and the 50% fighting. They were animated well.

The voice acting in this show was great. I watched the Sub and the voice actors fitted their roles. The OP was really good and the ED is an annoying, catchy song.

In conclusion, I found the anime quite enjoyable.I would recommend this anime to people want an anime with a lot of ecchi scenes.

Tokyo Godfathers is directed by Satoshi Kon. It is a comedy/adventure.

The plot of Tokyo Godfathers is very fluid. It has a well structured plot. The main characters contrast well together. They are very likeable.

The animation it very fluid. I really like the exaggerated facial expressions. The anime seems very lively and colourful. I watched the Dub and it was great. The voice actors voices suited the characters, very well. The music in the anime was also good.

Overall, the film was very enjoyable and I would recommend it to someone looking for a heartwarming, Christmas movie.

The animation was good. It was bright and colourful The character designs were great and I really liked them. I watched the Sub and the voice acting was good. The music used was also good.

I would recommend this film to anyone interested in a great Fantasy movie.

Texhnolyze (2003)

Disappointing
7 July 2020
Texhnolyze was messy and confusing. Although this is common for bad Psychological animes. It was slow and there were a lot of pointless episodes. The main character (Ichise) was a bit dull and boring. He was also unlikeable and acted inappropriately, for the situation. Ran was also dull as well, but she was interesting and I wish I saw more of her.

The animation wasn't the best. The characters sometimes looked similar to each other and that was confusing. It also looks dull. Texhnolyze animation looks simular to Ergo Proxy and Serial Experiments Lain, but worse. I preferred the Sub to the Dub. The Sub's voice acting was decent and fit the characters well. The OP and ED are fine as well.

If you like psychological anime, then you might like this. But I don't think it's worth watching.

JoJo
25 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is about the Joestar familys bizarre adventures. It is an adaption of the very popular manga by Hirohiko Araki.

Plot: The plots are good. It might be a little repetitive

Animation - It has a distinct art style where the characters have a very noticeable outline. There are also a lot of muscly people. It is also very colourful and the characters colour design changes randomly, sometimes and I really like it. It is also animated by David Productions. I like the fight scenes.

Characters - The main characters are usually very muscly. It is, most of the time, clearly difined about who is good and bad.

Originality - The only thing unique about it is the animation and some of the abilities, in Jojo. Apart from that it is not really original.

Enjoyment - The 1st series (part 1 and 2) and part 4, is quite boring often, but it pays off at the end. Part 3 and 5 are quite enjoyable.

Voice Acting - The Sub is a lot better than the Dub. The Sub has good voice actors that do their job well.

Music - The music in Jojo is great and they often use a lot of Japanese and English songs.

Ranking Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Parts: 1. Golden Wind 2. Stardust Crusaders 3. Battle Tendency 4. Phantom Blood 5. Diamond is Unbreakable

I would recommend Jojo's Bizarre Adventure to anyone interested in manly, action anime.

Drugs and Depression
25 June 2020
Requiem for a Dream is about a man, with his two friends and his mother. It shows that drugs are very bad.

It is made in 2000. It is a Drama/Psychological thriller. It runs for 1h 50m. It stars Jared Leto.

The plot of the movie is fluid and the things that happen in the movie are regularly sudden. The scene where the main character and his friends take drugs is regularly repeated and is a very visually appealing scene. It has 3 separate stories about the main characters mother, him and his best friend and his girlfriend.

The acting in the movie is great. The main characters are talented and make the movie more depressing. You can see the despair in the movie, and there is a lot of it.

I would recommend this film to anyone who wants to see a depressing film with drugs in it.

Hot Fuzz is good
25 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Hot fuzz is about a police officer who moves to a town in the countryside. Weird murders happen in the town, disguised as accidents and no one thinks they are suspecious.

Hot Fuzz is an Action, Comedy, Mystery Thriller. It is written by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. It stars Simon Pegg (Nicholas Angel) and Nick Frost ( PC Danny Butterman) it came out in 2007.

The plot is fine. It is a bit slow and cautious. The camera angles are not too extreme and are practical.

The acting is fluid and goofy. The Simon Pegg plays a likable and serious man. Nick Frost is funny and goofy, so they contrast well. The main character feels often shocked when something usually happens in the town and his fellow police officers don't so this shows that he is not used to the town. The dialogue is choppy and crisp. It is also quick. This movie makes a lot of references to Action/Thriller movies.

The problem that is unresolved in this move is that the main character still can't balance his home/work life, by the end of it.
