The Handmaid's Tale (2017–2025)

Good show all-round & faithful to its source

I am reading the book just now and it really captures the imagination with its such exquisite detail and architectural study.

The cast more than live up to script they are presented with, and the production design elements are worthy of a watch for definite.

A wonderful Doris Day & Rock Hudson pairing in this magnificent little film, with characters who just play so well off each other. Very accomplished from both film producers and its stars. One of the happiest of 50's movies!

Million Dollar Baby (2004)

A solid Hilary Swank - Eastwood combination

Good reliable premise, filmed with artistry and precision.

Swank rose to fame in this boxing tale, and puts so much energy into every frame she's in!

Another strength of the movie is the smooth runs of editing sequences.

Out of Africa (1985)

Class personified

Gem of a film with many accolades to its name and deservedly so.

Everything from its rich sweeping music, to its majestic scenery, out of Africa is a romantic adventure, starring two of Hollywood's very best and most experienced.

Direction is on a grand scale, and is with a deft professional touch.

My Cousin Vinny (1992)

Crime drama that grips

Joe Pesci and an Oscar-winning participant are wonderfully complimenting each other in a runaway movie that has few if any flaws in its narrative.

The script holds together for running time well enough to keep audience involved.

Brad Pitt in a heartwarming performance

Relatable story with beautiful cinematography to be admired!

Plot is strong and the pace is nice and even.

12 Angry Men (1957)

Portrait of intense drama

This is a memorable piece of work, dealing with in a sense at heart a simple premise: Guilty or not guilty, in a case where a boy is questioned over possible murder.

Great writing with several performances that really stand-out! A single courtroom set used.

Once Were Warriors (1994)

Hugely emotive & powerful moviemaking!

Brilliance from all the cast (especially two of the male/female lead)

Direction has to also be credited.

Masterpiece with its share of thought-provoking scenes amid the unrelenting violence.

Fair play to all aspects of this display of filmmaking. It is rich, emotional, and thought-provoking that teaches many valuable lessons.

Classic Tim burton dark-comedy which keeps the audience on edge throughout, and involved in the personal story the film takes.

More than anything, is a celebration of its fantasy, tone, dialogue and Michael Keaton's portrayal of the titular character! A real treat of the 1980's decade is ready to be watched.

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Loud, at times harsh, and proud!

Strictly for those adult enough to accept the dialogue of strong language throughout, also littered with many sex/drug references.

Not a Scorsese great, but still was a hit in which it's lead of Dicaprio (whom the director legend used in the aviator) performs at a high level in a corporal enterprise.

Simply one of the most intelligent and most enjoyable films ever made. Genius frank darabont utilises Stephen king's masterwork perfectly. Couldn't be praised any more really. All is great, from emotional performances by robbins and freeman, to storytelling qualities and the ability to retain fans interest.

Must watch experience!
