Native north-American Indians will LOVE this movie; also tree hugger.

It's very PC (Politically Correct) !!!

It's got one serious scientific/economic/health problem.

It forgets some aspects of evolution, it ignores the effect of disease when hi-tech does not exist;

such as: it ignores the effect of:

cancer, bacteria, viruses, and fungus (etc., etc., ....) on halving life-expectancy !

If you like to live in a bug infested tropical forest,

and die at 40 instead of 80, then you will love this movie. .

VERY GOOD MOVIE 10/10, a bit a la Beautiful Mind

VERY GOOD MOVIE 10/10, a bit a la Beautiful Mind (John Nash). Kinsey was a ground breaker in the 50s, and surrounded by especially conservative narrow minded Americans. His sudden awakening against unscientific bias is a refreshing story of mind over moron, rationality over bind dogma, love over hatred, etc.... Must see movie, especially over and over for Americans and religious 'blind'. Kinsey was a ground breaker in the 50s, and surrounded by especially conservative narrow minded Americans. Typical Clint Eastwood 5/10
14 February 2005
TYPICAL CLINT EASTWOOD 5/10. Not a Hollywood ending (you are warned); shock ending. Not very good. He just puts typical hyper-emotional damaged characters together to battle it out. He doesn't worry about some of the logic to end the movie properly. The movie goes from drive to 'reverse' without reason-ability. His characters are about street people making barely audible 'smart' comments about life. Clint acts like Clint with his typical restrained and inaudible voice. The movie goes from drive to 'reverse' without reason-ability.

JUST THE FACTS MAM, JUST THE FACTS; AND DEM 'R THE FACTS !

JUST THE FACTS MAM, JUST THE FACTS; AND DEM 'R THE FACTS ! 10/10 June 25th.

I'm one of the few voters who can say that I actually saw the film before voting. A lot of good visuals for all the dialogue we've been hearing since 9/11. The movie/truth speaks for itself. Any lies (and I doubt it) will be public soon; if any.

Most of it I already knew but I was surprised how great of a crash-course in all-of-9/11 it was. I was hit with all those film clips putting faces to all that dialogue we've been hearing since 9/11. A must see film for those wanting to learn for themselves what is happening around the world related to 9/11.

One scene that I had never seen was the 4 tribal Talibans visiting Bush in Texas. They didn't look too happy being filmed by the media and probably knew, and were smart enough (more than Bush) to know that that film footage would be shown in a not too pleasant way. A lot of visual images fast paced in 2 hours. My screening didn't have a too good "digital" look; part of it due to clips from video. MMoore covers all bases. Bushes, Cheney, all the way to Wolfowitz are the best actors, and script writers including the Saudi royals and family, along with Bushes friends and work colleagues at Halliburton, Enron, Arbusto, Carlyle Group, Saudi connections, etc.... American poor, American soldiers, American and Iraqi mothers of dead soldiers and relatives, respectively. The only ones not playing major acting roles were Sadam and Osama.

Even though I new most of the stuff; I found it to be quite a fast paced story and one shouldn't blink. Great story telling from the Horses mouth himself; BUSH.

ABOVE AVERAGE FILM. A VERY PLEASANT TREAT 8/10
29 March 2004
ABOVE AVERAGE FILM 8/10. This film was suggested to me as I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. I've seen enough wilderness and airplane crash movies that I didn't expect this one to be different. I was very pleasantly surprised by the beauty and the realism that the director was able to achieve with his crew under very harsh and sparse filming conditions. When I first saw the vast flat openness I immediate tried to imagine how Hitchcock could have used this scenery. Annabella Piugattuk was able to play her character in which she has to express her "foreign-to-us" life and beliefs along with her harsh predicament that she's in. Barry Pepper did a fine job. I have very few complaints in this film. My only complaint is that it was based on a fictional story but I'm sure that it is an amalgam of many true stories that we rarely hear or see; especially in movies. A very pleasant treat..

CHICK FLICK PAR EXCELLENCE.
8 June 2003
Cutsie. Will appeal the chicks. The only audience members laughing were the girls giggling at many of the clichés. Very light fluff. Cute for the story twists. Although their was too much boring dialogue with sudden important and funny lines that some parts of the plot was missed.

PREDICTABLE ALREADY SEEN VISUALS.
8 June 2003
PREDICTABLE ALREADY SEEN VISUALS. The problem was that most of the ship is all rusted red and therefore everything looks the same. Also a lot of this was shot with non-high quality 2-D digital cameras on 2 movable robots. After a while of seeing all this omnipresent orange-red rust on relatively small screens we don't know what we're looking at, where we are, and we just don't care after a while. The effects of 3D were rarely used except for the face of the russian submarine driver.

BEAUTIFUL COLORFUL GRAPHICS but the story feels "sooo what"
8 June 2003
BEAUTIFUL COLORFUL GRAPHICS and cute simple story for the young but not really good enough for adults. Alot of jokes were missed due to the "british" accents, for the 2nd'ary characters, were hard to understand. The paranoid voice of fatherly Albert Brooks and his son's Nemo got on my nerves after a while. The actor's voices of 2nd'ary characters were hard to recognise; too bad. Not as good as ICE AGE or Lilo & Stitch due to too much yaking and not enough caring for the characters.

SO MUCH OF A PREDICTABLE VIDEO GAME
8 June 2003
SO MUCH OF A PREDICTABLE VIDEO GAME that I started laughing while saying "hear we go again" (with the one sided battles). Too many errors in this movie like when he stops hundreds of powerful bullets with the force field of his hands but can't do the same against several men. And this done twice. After a while we can't figure out what laws of physics apply or don't apply. One e.g. of many: whenever the main character wants to change scenes he just flies off like superman; then why can't he do that all the time. Computerized characters are blatant. They went for quantity instead of quality. A major scene with the drums is out of place.

FEW LAWS OF NATURE ARE FOLLOWED.
11 January 2003
In brief. I loved the scenery and some of the special animations BUT these can be useless if the story is not there. If you want to go through a horde of 10000 heavily armed 8 foot monsters just take a few horses and men and just go through and you won't be harmed !!????. There are at least 3 parallel sub-story lines which got confusing after a while. They weren't really important since some of them were predictable, unrealistic, and with little story I just really didn't care. It's really for boys and also for girls who love boys. It's a too simplistic guy buddy buddy story where there are few if any women. I'd swear that with all the faeries, blonds, midgets, small smooth kiddie faces that this movie was destined for gays. The number of real women in this movie was a total shame, and I'm not even a women. I gave it a 9 for scenery, a 1 for all the many other categories because of poor logic, storylines, realism, war, etc ...

Comedian (2002)

C O M E D I A N' S I N N A R D S !!
26 October 2002
Some interesting documentary glimpses into comedians, clubs, comedian's life, Seinfeld's life, Manager's life. The sound and dark scenes could of and should of been much better; too much background bar noise, especially for a movie. Comedian Orny Adams is an interesting character but gets annoying after a while; I guess that is what makes a Comedian. Montreal Just for Laughs gets some interesting coverage. Mandatory viewing for aspiring comedians, comedy historians, Managers, and bar flies. It's too bad that other crummy movies easily get 10 ratings. This one deserves an average mark but much better than any "action" movie

C H A L L E N G I N G T O P I C !!
26 October 2002
Challenging topic. On the plus side the actors are good and are believable at playing these difficult to portray characters, the topic of light S&M is pretty interesting. On the negative the story has some bad timing problems in terms of what, when, and where to deliver. Too much movie time is spent on the inadequate boyfriend which could and should of been used on developing and explaining the layer character and his eventual relationships. The timing of this movie is off. Their initial meeting is too sudden, awkward, not natural enough, and natural flowing. The same can be said of their developing relationship. The progression of the relationship is not very clear. A few less important sub-threads are not very clear but are still annoying to the observing eye. The movie is good but could of easily been much better. The art-directions are nice. The ending is reasonably good. I give it most marks for actors, story idea, story potential but remove marks for story timing and sub-plots. It's too bad that other crummy movies easily get 10 ratings. This one deserves an average mark but much better than any "action" movie.

M A S T E R P I E C E !!! Material so good that it speaks for itself
19 October 2002
BEAUTIFUL!! I just saw this movie and it was extremely good. It's about the different points of view about guns and gun control in the US and Canada, and about the Columbine shootings of 13 people. Poignant, informative, funny, sad, intelligent and all presented with some humour (whenever possible). It is even better than his other film Roger and Me. He makes the making of a film look like this is soooo easy and fun to make since the material from the "other" media that he uses is so good that it speaks for itself. The real stories and real characters that he uses are just mind bogglingly true in being smart, stupid, ignorant, funny, etc ... His straight forward and not-so straight forward controversies are brought out through the characters in the film without too much need for narration. My only quip is that he should of also spoke about Soviet involvement in the overthrow of world governments. I could not see the last 5 minutes of the movie because of a power failure (possibly caused by Bush attacking our power plants. :-). A classic which I will see again !!

J U S T H O R R I B L E !! Bad independent-like movie
19 October 2002
JUST HORRIBLE!! I endured the first half of this movie and had to leave; a couple before me had left earlier. It was NOT funny at all except for 1 or 2 events. It was filmed like an under funded independent or university film but without an interesting human story. Just drivel. I know the movie is bad when I think to myself "I could of done that with a shaking hand held and by just throwing whatever circus item into the frame." The movie theatre was silent as I was leaving. I have NO idea why the main critics gave it a thumbs up and don't care to know. I saw the masterpiece bowling for columbine in the next theatre instead.

S L O W - M O V I N G - M O V I E - watching corn grow
10 August 2002
It could of been reduced to 10 minutes of men overcoming depression. In extreme brevity: it's sooooo bad that even I could of written/directed/produced this piece of predictable drivel. After viewing the first half of this movie I felt as if I had been watching a film on how slow corn grows. To pass the time I tried finding Hitchcockian hidden 'signs' by looking at details in the background for clues and there were almost N O N E ! ! ! I understand what the movie is about and its inclusion of several so-called Hitchcockian tricks and references like the McGuffin but it's not even worth mentioning them. It could of been reduced to 10 minutes of men overcoming depression.

VERY SWEET, SMART, LOVING DETAILED FILM
27 December 2001
True story of a Nobel Prize winner surviving with paranoid-schizophrenia. It's a good movie that will interest people who like movie's that talk about the mind, personality.. It also has some mystery, intrigue, and somewhat a love story. The characters are well developed at the beginning and that explains the 2:15 hrs. Watch out for the british accents at the beginning (too bad). I got what I wanted but this does not mean it was Star Wars. It's topics include the obvious and a bit about math, code breaking during the cold war, cruising for girls and how the theory of group partnering help in getting the girls as being a better strategy than being a loner cruiser (evolutionary theory of groups and group dynamics vs individualism), love, friendship, illusion, logic over illusion (mind over mind!!), perseverance, getting the audience into the man's mind (quite good), facing and talking the truth even though it ain't beautiful, sense-of-humor, and a lot of other good stuff which I won't discuss here. Understanding and support by loved ones, colleagues, friends, and coworkers. It's got a BIT of everything. I'm more impressed, than his Nobel prize, that's he's still alive at all !!

Don't worry too much about the math, and the code breaking (pattern recognition), allot is explained as it goes along.

Some little pointers for the beginning: he plays a game of some kind of checkers with school mates and they speak with a british accent; they reappear near the latter part of the film. Most of the math shown makes sense (for once) and is simply about mathematically representing groups of people by referencing to them using simple indexing numbers (i.e. 1 2 3 4 5 etc., and remember Venn diagrams with overlapping circles in high school), and also about reshaping space e.g. projecting the spherical earth onto a simple flat paper map.

I mostly liked the many small smart and beautiful little touches stories in the film. Also see his very revealing autobiography at the Nobel web site. The ending is a little quick and soapy but they got to please some of the chicks.
