A visual extravaganza
22 January 2023
Graphics are the best but the dialogues the story lines or not upto the mark so maybe that's not the best of his, something that good to top the IMDB chart but good enough to watch only because of the graphics and graphics only. If yoy are looking for something something amazing you may be disappointed because the story the suspense the action that all is missing just the visuals. We can't say in Cameron disappointed us because as expected and and as Avatar is known for is basically for graphics. And in the first movie at least much of the story line suspense, a bit of action sequences which were much better than the second one. So if you have never been to any aquatic life like Andamans in our country this movie might be a chance to that view.

Too long to be a Pulp Fiction.
9 January 2023
Could have been great if the movie was a bit short. Can't say much for the pace, because you cannot take it beyond a certain limit.

As a big fan of Robert deniro I was expecting much more screen time of his but that was not the case even this thing alone pissed me off.

Also also in the last scene the way Samuel Jackson was killed suddenly didn't much justice to his person. He had a god damn gun in his hand waiting to till the air hostess but somehow outdone by those fool looking ATF guys.

I have watched those Western movies where the guy kills dozens of the bad guys in a fraction of a second and he couldn't do that. That was embarrassing. Period.

A bit of disappointment.
16 October 2022
The movie lacks in the plot. The only thing that takes movie ahead is the acting by the lead roles.

The story could have been more made more relating if were supported by by the tangible elements rather than that of the supernatural things like magic.

The moment the audience realises that the movie is trying to force the tears, that too based on some supernatural phenomenon, it looses it's charm. Had the events been more realistic and tangible like those of "12 years a slave", it would have worked.

The acting too seemed average to me. Tom Hank played many better roles than this one i.e. Forrest gump. Saving private Ryan etc.

Perfect blend of nostalgia, tragedy, courage and joy.
4 September 2022
Historical movies have always fascinated me. There is something soothing, something real about them. Unlike the modern sci-fi, fantasy movies, there is some solid element to them. Something we can cling onto, something we can call real with the base to it to rest on.

With that, added was the perfect screenplay. It's cherry on the top. The movie goes so smoothly without even a single moment of boredom. That's an impressive feat for a 3 hours movie, unlike the modern 1.5 hr movies which have a lot of boring moments. The landscapes of Europe were a treat to the eyes.

Like other classics this one too had an amazing characteristic. Every detail and every character was indispensable and so closely interconnected. That's the beauty of a well written story and script.

A must watch for the history lovers.

A nice try.
17 August 2022
Well I already have watched Forrest Gump and this is not The Dark Knight, so that's it.

There are some movies which you can't copy, no matter how hard you try. They are the picture of perfection, that leaves little room for mistakes. Aamir might be called Mr. Perfectionist, but the scope still seems to be Bollywood. When it comes to the world out there, we are still a novice. He is no match for Tom Hanks.

But it was a nice try. We gotta give it for him. At least here he is a perfectionist.

Terrific
24 July 2022
Given it was shot in 1960s and before the man reached moon, the visuals of the space was surprisingly close to the real space visuals that we have now. These are so real that the whole situation seems some kind of coincidence.

The sets are amazing, and the storyline a bit more. The way we are left grappling for the explanation in the end, is a whole new way of storytelling.

Most of the things in the movie were kept at a general level, not getting into the details and specifications much, though that ran a certain risk of making it an average storytelling. But it tuned out to be phenomenal. No wonder it is still relevant because of the generalizations.

A must watch if you want to leap into the deep oceans of imagination.

Amazing thriller
3 July 2022
Will need more than one watch of it to appreciate it fully.

Awesome thriller with amazing storyline. Vijay played the so comfortably that he never felt like acting. He outdid Madhavan, to be honest.

Dialogue could have been more precise and to the point. May be these were, because I watched it in Hindi and some beautiful of the words is lost in the translation.

The movie was amazing. The plot was good but writing was not up to the mark. Could have been better. Acting-wise Rajkumar Rao was terrific but Kay Kay Menon, looks like was not very happy with the screen time of his.

A kids' movie! Whatever.
2 May 2022
Well from the 1977 one, which ofcourse I loved a lot and was trying to convince myself it to be a grownups' movie. But with this one, that came crashing down. It is a kids' movie. But that doesn't matter. I still like that. May be being a kid aswell sometimes is good. I wonder about the chidhood of those baby boomers. It must have been terrific. Nowadays kids' movies are nowhere close to this one. And if it is liked by kids and adults alike, then it is one serious contender.

They could have been more serious about those light saber duel. Could have been made more realistic, after all that's the signature weapon of the whole franchise. Same goes for Yoda as well.

Apart from that everything was amazing. Be it story line, acting and sets.

A must watch for kids, adults and old alike.

Still letting it sink in.
9 April 2022
The movie will need atleast 2-3 watches to get it all together, to appreciate it fully and understand it's nuances and hidden lessons.

The concepts were way ahead of it's time. Droids were a far cry, atleast then, if not now and that too the intelligent ones and the P30 like emotional ones.

Harrison Ford too used to be young at some point of time. The movie seems to be the proof of that.

A lesson on love.
22 February 2022
It literally is. What is love and what it stands for. From cradle to the grave.

Now a days we wonder if a dad bod guy can ever be attractive and charming. Most of the girls I doubt, will never agree.

Well here He is, the evergreen image of an Ideal lover. He knows how to win heart of the girl and his son with his witty humour, even with his skinny physique. This perfect blend of wit and humour, I think is the most attractive attribute a guy can have. The way he turns something as morbid as Holocaust into something kinda joy ride for his son with his tales, is amazing.

A must watch for wannabe fathers.

Evergreen
21 February 2022
The movie is a technical masterpiece. Given that it was released in 1954, and the filming would have started even earlier, and we don't see even a single drop of water on the lenses, even when shooting those rainy war sequences.

The movie lasts 3.5 hours and is black monochrome, still not a single moment seems boring.

It's a perfect blend of comedy, war cries and heroism. A must watch for someone looking to explore ancient Japanese war traditions.

To the point to Batman spirit
8 February 2022
That's how super heroes should be, a bit relatable to human beings, not somebody from the other world itself or a product of science experiment.

The way Batman character came into being was amazing. So was his ideology of never giving up on things.

The female protagonist played spoilsport, or may be that's the destiny for a true vigilante.

As chilling as Everest.
15 January 2022
The first scenes, when transform from the cosy milieu of Katmandu airport to the foothills of nepal, we knew something chilly was going to happen. But the way it was executed made it more real and impactful.

The ice as shown in the movie felt every bit real. I could feel the chill, even being in my quilt in my comfortable n cosy room. That's of the level of camera work in this movie. It's a perfect pictorial extravaganza.

The charm of the peak n the joy as felt by the summiters would made anyone go crazy about being then and there, even it meant eternity on that hill, literally. And I was no exception.

The charcters pulled off the perfect performance. Every single one having their own impact. The cries of the wife at home while connecting to her dying husband would leave everyone crying.

But the adrenaline rush, seems, conquers everything, or may be the most strongest of all. No wonders every year dozens of people add to it's graveyard, inspite of knowing about it's harsh realities.

This movie too adds to that, leaving little difference between the images in it and the actual Everest peak.

A perfect watch for the go getter adrenaline junkies out there.

Low key(s) but absolute brilliance.
29 November 2021
It was all about the keys. If I had known it, I would have made sure to track the keys' movement.

A simple yet brilliant portrayal of a near perfect murder. Makes you wonder if the most intricate plots can be narrated with a very least number of words, and even without stepping out of one god*amn room.

Reminds me of ByomkeshBakshi1993.

Scarface, Desi
29 November 2021
This may have been a ripped off version of Scarface, but it as he*l had all it's intensity.

Those bloodshot eyes of Amitabh were more formidable than those of Al Pacino's. Danny on the other hand was as meaning business as Amitabh. Iyer, Mithun may be was a bit more stereotyping Southners. Archana puran singh as seen in this movie, looks like, had her days.

Overall a good movie. May be, worth watching again.

Interstellar (2014)

Terrific
27 September 2021
Can't say which aspect of the movie I like the most. I mean everything of this movie was amazing and hard to tell which one was the superior.

Starting with the ultimate fantasy of reaching another galaxy altogether is close to mind-blowing, whatever was left that wormhole thing made up. It felt more realistic because of the premise of humans looking to space for survival. The climate change is real and given the incidents in 2021, it made the problem more imminent and the solution of escaping to other planets one of the most credible one. Elon musk rushing for Mars makes the escape theory altogether real.

The way they capture and control that drone was ominous of something extraterrestrial and that line by Coop, "This thing needs to adapt like us" expresses his deep conviction of going to any length for human species survival.

The space graphics were surreal and much better than what I see in documentaries. Wormholes are not very real but this movie made me want to believe their existence so badly. Travel though the wormhole would be an ultimate fantasy.

Next one were the emotional and philosophical views as expressed in this one. The parent child relationships were beautifully portrayed in this one, be it of Coop and the his kids or Donald and Coop.

Another one was the background score. Given that it is a Christopher Nolan movie, it is no brainer. It was amazing and too the point and fitting perfectly with the scenes and added to the magic of space.

They say gravity is the best space movie ever made and still it's way below on the ratings chart as compared to this one. The reason being Interstellar has all the emotional aspects necessitating the space travel and its importance, making it more connecting as compared to of fixing a giant telescope.

A must watch for all the space enthusiasts looking for a fulfilling 3 hours of a visual treat.

One Spiritual Adventrure.
19 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
People say "listen to your heart". While we do that from time to time, but is that that easy, I think not. No doubt it gives us the ultimate happiness and satisfaction but sometimes its da*n tough. But believe me it is worth the risk no matter what the end result is. Life is not always the bed of roses. This movie puts it really beautifully .

The movie starts with what's called the heart's desire. McCandless learns about his parents and his so called social identity. He resents the whole concept of society and, in the fit of anger, loses himself in the solitude of wilderness, way into Alaska and tries to live off the land. He also destroys every proof of his identity to let go of his identity as given by the society. On the way to Alaska he gets to meet different kind of people, exchanging with them the different perspectives about life and forgiveness. Living in one remote area of Alaska in an abandoned bus, he soon comes to the realisation of forgiving his parents. But by then it is very late, he is in much weaker condition and starving. He can't make it back to his home, crossing one giant river which he, some months back had crossed easily on his way up. The last scene was more of the regret of him not being able to make to his home with the new knowledge of the life i.e. Forgiveness. This scene is too emotional and makes me cry. Somebody who goes to any length to find the meaning of life and emotions, only to die a horrific death.

I read on Wikipedia that a lot of people later tried to get to his place of stay in Alaska facing all the harsh weather and natural conditions. To me it feels, maybe it was more of a way of the wish of helping him and paying him tribute, rather than seeking an adventure in it.

The concept the movie and the characters who go to any length to live in the real world to find the ultimate happiness and the meaning of life is an ideal example to the people of now a days who are constantly glued to the virtual world of social media and internet. Or may these people are too soft for the real world, at least it's not for the faint hearted.

Acting by Emile was amazing with the perfect screen time for every character according to his scope in the movie. The chracters, too ordinary, are so into their aims, ignoring all the destractions that they all seem not so ordinary.

A must watch for the people searching the real meaning of life. It will definitely add to the answers.

The holy grail of India Jones franchise
6 September 2021
Just like the subject matter, the movie in itself is the holy grail of the franchise. Though like most of the people out there, I believe the things like Holy Grail to be myths, but the movie made the thing alive and real. Such a realistic picturisation of the Jesus Artifacts is praiseworthy.

A must watch for adventure lovers.

Da*n Intense
1 September 2021
These are the kind of movies that take you to some other world. This beyond the world experience is tough to get, anything that transports you there is beyond praise, it's heavenly. The movie does that beautifully.

That scene in the church when Linda stares at Mike, while still committed to Nick, is so humanlike and real. Things in the real life are like that, making us settle for things.

So is the scene in Viet-Cong's captivity, where they are forced to play the deadly game, is beyond handling. Makes us go crazy with rage instantly.

Background score being absent during most of the movie duration, shows such a huge emotional and performance aspect of the movie.

Overall a stunning movie with an amazing cast.

History Fictionalized.
16 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Though I am not willing to take sides and it feels so evil to imagine such things, but shouldn't it have been a big victory for Britain, if that train was blown in reality. Reminds me of "Inglorious Basterds". That's the one reason most of the time of "I wish" genre. That things if were so would have been better. But history is history, what has been done can't be undone. Be it brutality or mass murders or forced labour or bombings.

The truth as spoken by the survivors of the POW camps is totally opposite to what has been shown in the movie. I think it's about time we accept it and kinda internalize the fact that those were war times. Many horrible things happened at that time, done by both the sides. They both did what they thought appropriate.

Getting back to movie, given the fact that it was realeased in 1957 when the wounds of the war were relatively fresh, it was a bold attempt on people's sentiments and was hugely successful in doing so.

The sets and locations were amazing. I wonder how they managed so clean shots with the technology of that era. Jungle sequences and the train going down sequence seemed so real.

One thing i learnt about the British is that they are excellent in building bridges. The bridge they built in this movie, may be only for shooting this movie, looked very sturdy. I think it could be used for the transportation in real life. Acting was perfect by all the characters and was very much in synch with the requirements of the sets, scenes and screenplay.

So intense that it's more of a horror movie.
2 August 2021
Watched Prometheus first some years back and was in awe of it. Then came to know about Queen Mother of all the movies in the franchise. Turns out to the real mother of all.

Given, it came some 40 years back, it was so good. Those sets, graphics and sounds were so creepy, it may give you nightmares. The concept of the creature was so realistic and well ahead of its time. It has been 40 years since then and the subsequent movies could not add much to it. New ones are almost the same. I think that's the sign of a master piece that it stands the test of time well.

Sigourney played her part well, may be that's why she was cast in #Avataar, not only for the main role but also somebody who could teach the extraterrestrial, may be she got too familiar with them through all these Alien movies😂. She was sexualized a bit in the last scenes, may be that is the requisite of a horror movies, atleast it is in India.

A must watch, if you watched this no need to watch the spinoffs.

A mind blowing thriller.
25 July 2021
Thriller, or I would say, a rare instance of permutations and combinations, to the point where everything fits perfect. No doubts it can do wonders, let alone making one slum dweller, millionaire. Though these instances are rare and so are these one night rags to riches people.

When KBC was on air in 2000's, I used to think how much money they are splurging with every episode. That was the first TV serial solar raining money on people. Earlier and even today the most I see any TV or radio program giving out to people is a meager movie or a restaurant pass worth a couple of hundred bucks. On the other hand it was giving crores to people per episode. After watching this movie came to realise that winning 1Cr is once in a blue moon scenario not everybody wins 1Cr, most settle for thousands, and what the show runners are making is a fortune because the TRP is so high that they still make much more than what they give.

The movie is so beautiful, so full of emotions and so full of the real world and how the not so privileged live. Whenever I went to Taj or any festival or a Show I used to think that what was in front of my eyes was the only thing that was going on but what goes on behind the curtains is an altogether different world, that's totally opposite to what we see and this movie is is a window to that world. It shows you what you are not supposed to, at least as expected by the society.

Music is amazing and so are the visuals and the acting by the child stars especially those kids from the slums was terrific, and it was so real that in some scenes they don't seem to be acting, seeming more like the real characters.

Dev Patel was great for a debutant and so was Freida Pinto. There was something wrong with the makeup of her or may be that's what was required of the character because in real life what she looks much more beautiful and gorgeous.
