OneShot - Game Review
5 August 2018
Few games have actually succesfully managed to both blow my mind and pull my heart strings multiple times, Max Payne, Metal Gear Solid, Undertale and yes, this game too. The game was created by Eliza Velasquez and Casey Gu, as I understand there was an earlier freeware version of the game in 2014, however I didn't knew about OneShot until I casually saw it on the steam store in 2016, it caught my eye with it's art style so I considered purchasing it, a few months later I did and... just wow..., I consider Undertale to be one of the best games to be released in recent years and no joke, I consider OneShot of equal quality, this is a fantastic game, the game immediately makes a good first impression with it's art style and well realized atmosphere and when you start your journey to put the sun where it belongs (Yeah, that's the basic premise) you quickly realize, this game has great character designs, world building and funny and clever dialogues, I was really having a good time for a good chunk of the game, laughing and really caring for all the characters, but the game... also hits you in the feels. The first time I finished the game, the ending left me kinda cold, I'm just going to say, you get to make a choice and is sure as hell not an easy one. But the best part? The game was not really over, they also added an "expansion" of sorts which now is already included if you download the game, the "Solstice Run" and this really elevated the game, the first part was really good, but the Solstice Run is what made me put OneShot right alongside Undertale, the new characters you meet are very likable and the story expands quite a bit, you learn more stuff about the world and it's history. I have not talked about gameplay but that's because I feel that in that regard you should play the game blind, trust me, it will surely surprise you. And last but not least, the ending of the Solstice Run... I won't spoil it but... I'm someone who rarely ever cries because of a movie, a book or a game, very few have been able to get a tear out of me... Logan, the pacifist ending of Undertale, Inside Out to name some of the few..... after really finishing OneShot, I'm not going to lie, the ending left me in tears for about 10 minutes and I'm not ashamed to say that, if you play the game and get to that part without tearing up a bit... you might as well have no soul, that ending really got me right in the feels. OneShot is definitely a great game and a fantastic indie game, it does so much with so little and it's truly a shame that no many people know it, more people should definitely play it, this is an easy recommendation for anyone who likes video games.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Game Review
8 June 2018
MW3 is probably the weakest game in the trilogy, but is still a pretty good game. After the first two MW games. expectations for this game were through the roof and that was probably one of the reasons people overreacted a bit when it came out, admittedly this game isn't as strong as it's predecessors but is still a good game, the campaign is short and unfortunately it doesn't have as many memorable set pieces as the previous games, with only two of them being stand outs for me, the score is good but again not as good as the previous ones, gameplay is the standard stuff, not many changes from MW2, the story is actually better than MW2 in my opinion, with the stakes actually feeling pretty high and the game has a pretty satisfying conclusion. Even though MW3 was weaker than what came before, I would still recommend this game solely to see how this particular storyline is concluded.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Game Review
8 June 2018
Even though it wasn't as grounded and well crafted as the previous game, MW2 was definitely a solid sequel to the first Modern Warfare game. While the first game in the trilogy was more grounded and required you to play smart in order to overcome certain challenges, MW2 is a more linear and simplistic, but still very entertaining game, just like almost every CoD game the production value is very high and the game looks great, gameplay doesn't feel as satisfying as the first game but is still a lot of fun, the score by Hans Zimmer an Lorne Balfe is fantastic, my favorite score from the MW trilogy, the story is once again pretty simple but works well for this game, is also a more fast paced game, with action scenes happening almost constantly and just like the first game, there are a lot of memorable set pieces, although they are more over-the-top this time around. Overall I still think that MW2 is a more than solid FPS and a game I really recommend to fans of the genre.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Game Review
8 June 2018
I used to be a pretty big fan of the CoD series, and both Black Ops and Modern Warfare were big reasons. To this day, no other game in the series has given me an experience quite like this, Modern Warfare is probably my second favorite game in the series, right behind Black Ops, the game is surprisingly solid in almost every area, the gameplay feels just right and the game can be pretty challenging at certain levels, but if you play smart, you can actually get on top of almost every situation, the score is great, I specially love the main theme, the story of the game is fairly standard but it works well for this kind of game, ironically this is probably the last CoD game we had that was in any way "realistic". The game also looks good all this years later and the campaign is filled with memorable set pieces, my favorite part of the game is a stealth section where you are basically playing as a sniper trying to hide from enemies, it was tense and by far the highlight of the game. Overall I really recommend this game, is by far one of the strongest games in the franchise and is overall an excellent FPS

Star Wars: A New Hope - Review
19 December 2017
This is a movie that I hardly have anything to say that hasn't been said before, this is probably the most well known movie in the world, most people have seen it or at the very least heard of it, it's a film that changed the industry as we know it, and that isn't an understatement, this and Jaws pretty much invented the blockbuster, something we are very familiar nowadays but back then it was unheard of. Now, I love this film, however I can't consider myself a HUGE SW fan like other people, yes I have seen all the movies, played plenty of games and even saw some of the TV series, but I have not seen any comic or book from the Expanded Universe and while I love Star Wars, I don't hold it as this "absolute flawless god-like master piece" but more like a great franchise, with highs and lows and that have given me a lot of enjoyment through the years, A New Hope or as it was called back when it first came out "Star Wars", was the beginning of this franchise, back when George Lucas was a small name in the industry, the movie is great, however it does have a few problems, but they can be easily overlooked considering both the time the movie came out and the tons of problems it had behind cameras, the movie has a simple story, a Princess kidnapped by an evil empire and the hero with a sword has to rescue her, it's a pretty standard journey of the hero story, but it actually works really good in this film, the characters are all memorable, they started with flaws but you see their evolution through this film and even through the series, the music.... what can I say here? Is arguably the most iconic movie score of all time, Williams created a musical master piece that people love to this day, I guess the only complains you could pick are the light saber between Obi Wan and Vader, which has aged quite a bit, but again, knowing the amount of problems the film had behind the scenes, you kinda have to forgive it. There isn't much I can say about this film because... everyone has already said it, this is a film that inspired many people and remains one of the most iconic franchises of all time and with good reason

Man of Steel (2013)

Man of Steel - Review
4 December 2017
Admittedly I never was a very big fan of Superman, but I was actually pretty excited for this movie when it was announced, I though the idea of a modern take on the character could be an interesting idea and when DC announced this was going to be the starting point of their own cinematic universe, I had more reasons to be excited. When the movie came out, initially I had... mixed feelings, on one hand I liked the modern take on the story, on the other hand I feel Snyder scarified some of Superman's best known attributes, after watching the film at least 3 times now, I can say I enjoy more than I did when it first came out, Man of Steel is not a bad movie, in fact is pretty entertaining, like I said, the movie's new story is great, a pretty good modern re-imagining of the character, Hans Zimmer score is magnificent, Henry Cavil was a pretty good choice for the last son of Krypton, in fact, most of the cast is pretty great and the action scenes are great, we never saw Superman fighting like this before on the big screen, however, the film still has some glaring flaws, for starters, the third act, no, I'm not going to complain about the destruction (That argument is just... overdone), but I do think the final battle could have been... maybe 15 minutes shorter or so, also I never liked Snyder's color palettes, I get he is trying to make a more gritty Superman movie but seriously, is just kinda silly how it seems like the sun never touches Metropolis, specially since Superman gets his powers from... you know, the sun. Overall Man of Steel is still a pretty enjoyable movie, the did a good job modernizing the story and we saw Superman fighting on the big screen, however the overlong final battle and the color palettes of the movie are a few complains that hold the movie a bit from being amazing in my opinion.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice - Review
4 December 2017
This is a movie that fans like myself waited since... well, almost our entire lives, the idea of DC's greatest heroes showing up on the same movie seemed like an impossible dream back in the day, but thanks to the MCU, DC finally decided to give it a shot. Now, just like MoS, I have to say, this isn't a bad movie, specially not a 26% movie like RT thinks, this film has plenty of good and even great things, but it does have many flaws, first the good, the cinematography, Larry Fong is an excellent cinematographer and some of his best works are with Zack Snyder, and this is no exception, Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL once again did an amazing job with the score, Ben Affleck was amazing as Batman and most of his scenes were fantastic, specially his first introduction and the warehouse fight, once again the story here seems great, however, what holds it down... is the script, yeah, we start with the bad here, the script is by far the biggest problem with the movie, some dialogues don't make sense, even after I re-watched this film 4 times now, and character motivations and actions are either unclear or... kinda silly, I really feel that DC should have hired someone else to write the script, David S. Goyer has not done a good movie in years now, also the villains... oh boy, I didn't hated Jesse Eisenberg when he was announced and I was even willing to give him the benefit of the doubt... but man, his performance did not worked for me, also... this part, spoiler alert... I guess? Doomsday, he is my favorite Superman villain, he has been ever since I read Death of Superman, and he was just underwhelming to say the least... BvS is not bad like some people would make you believe, but I can't deny this was a wasted opportunity, this is Superman and Batman first time together on the big screen, a better script and better handling of the villains and this could have been something truly amazing.

The Artist - Review
7 November 2017
Every person who is obsessed with movies and filmmaking has that one movie that made them interested in the medium, and for me, that film was The Artist. The film came out in 2011 and it was a black and white silent film, the same way movies were used to be back in the 20's and 30's, in fact, the film takes place in the final days of silent movies when the talkies started to rise, which is how they used to call movies with voice audio, the film is about a famous actor of the silent era and his downfall when this films slowly disappear, and we also see the rise of a young actress in the talkies era and a big part of the film is the relationship that forms between this two and how it changes through the years, what I love about this film is that it feels so much as a love letter to Hollywood and filmmaking in general, even though it was released on 2011, it feels like a piece of cinematic history. The acting is across the board excellent, everyone does an excellent job in convening emotion without saying words and this also comes from excellent direction, you can tell the director really love the medium, the music is also great, it really captures the style of the era is representing. Something that should be noted is that I never felt the movie was slow or boring, I felt constantly entertained, there was always so much movement in every shot, which makes sense considering this was a silent film, this is something very, VERY few people are familiar with nowadays but the pacing felt just right, there isn't really a scene that drags in my opinion. Overall the film is just fantastic and I can't really find much wrong with it, this is the film that awoke my interest in filmmaking and made me start to appreciate films in a way I didn't even considered before.

Max Payne 3 - Game Review
1 November 2017
When I heard about Max Payne 3, I naturally was interested, I loved the first 2 games and even though Remedy were not the ones working on 3, I still love Rockstar, they are able to tell great stories like in GTA San Andreas or Red Dead Redemption, so I was still very optimistic. Now, Max Payne 3 is not a bad game, not even close, but I can't deny it did felt like a step down compared to the previous games, the story is interesting at parts but after a while, you start to loose interest, while is a good story, is not as intriguing and engaging as the stories of the first two games and at times it gets pretty boring, the change of location was an interesting choice and they do take advantage of it, but it makes the game feel a bit distant from it's own franchise, thankfully there are some breve flashback scenes that take you to New Jersey and they feel more similar to the Max Payne games, now gameplay is something that has been improved considerably, the shooting mechanics are more polished than ever and the bullet time was perfected here, the graphics look gorgeous and the musical score by Health is great, in regard of technical aspects, Max Payne 3 is a near perfect game, but in regards of story and characters, this game is a bit of a let down, other than Pasos, there aren't many memorable new characters, none of the antagonists feel as unique as Nichole Horne or the Gognitti family or Lupino, none of the secondary characters are as memorable as Vladimir or Mona Sax, and that's a shame since this have always been a strong point in the franchise. Something I did liked about this game is the kind of story they were aiming, the first game was a neo-noir revenge story, the second game was a neo-noir romance story and this game is a neo-noir redemption story, that is actually a brilliant idea, making the Max Payne trilogy feel like one long story with 3 different acts, the execution though is the problem. Like I said, Max Payne 3 is by no means a bad game, in fact is pretty good, the graphics, gameplay and attention to detail are amazing, but the story and characters are unfortunately weaker and while the game is a fitting conclusion to Max's story, is not quite as strong as it should have been.

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne - Game Review
1 November 2017
After the success of Max Payne, Remedy had a lot of expectations to live up to, and they managed to pull it off, Max Payne 2 is a great game, almost as good as the first game. The story is once again excellent, this game is more of a tragic romance story and is told with excellent storytelling, the voice acting is also better and the cinematics also improved quite a bit, specially because now they had a budget and could hire professional actors, the game also has a lot of attention to detail in the environments, it really makes the city of the game feel alive, the gameplay is also more polished and the graphics for the most part hold up really well even today. As far as complains go, the physics are a bit cartoonish sometimes, the way it affects the enemies, you can pretty much make them fly in the air with a machine gun which is kinda silly but again, is a very minor complain that doesn't damage the overall quality of the game, because Max Payne is as good as sequels can get. This was a strong follow up to the original game and by this time, Max Payne was solidified as one of the best franchises in gaming.

Max Payne - Game Review
1 November 2017
Max Payne is to this day one of the best video games I have ever played, I always see myself coming back to it from time to time, I never get tired of it. A lot of people know Max Payne as the game that perfected bullet time in games but the game achieved much more than that, this game has some of the best storytelling I have ever seen in the medium, Sam Lake did a brilliant job writing the story of this game. The gameplay is also extremely addictive, not just because of the bullet time mechanic, but also because of the shooting mechanics, they're a lot of fun, I also love the cinematics, they're done with comic book panels, making the game feel like a hybrid between a video game and a graphic novel, I also just love the neo-noir tone and style of the game, all this elements made Max Payne a game easy to identify and it has become one of the best examples of how games can tell truly amazing stories, sometimes even better than movies. The game has some minor flaws that you can forgive knowing this game didn't had much of a budget, like the faces you see in the cinematics, is obvious this people were not professional actors, but again, considering the low budget and many limitations this people had while making the game, you can forgive this minor flaws. Max Payne remains to this day as a master piece and one of the greatest games ever made.

Blade Runner (1982)

Blade Runner - Review
19 October 2017
This is a film that took me at least 3 viewings to fully appreciate (Like most people apparently), now is one of my favorite films of all time. Blade Runner is in every way, a flawed master pieces, a film that has problems that everyone overlooks because of how good the film itself is, the visuals are by far the stand out of the movie, they still look outstanding, so many years later, and the special effects have barely aged for the most part, the environments were definitely something unique for their time and you can see how they became an influence for so many films of the genre that came after it,the world feels alive, real and it's an amazing achievement, the directing by Ridley Scott is one of the best I have seen in his entire career and the musical score by Vangelis is fantastic and the script is excellent, the story while pretty straightforward, there are so many details that requires you to pay attention to fully understand what is happening or in some cases, what might be happening, Harrison Ford also delivers in my opinion one of the best performances of his career, through the entire film i didn't saw Ford, I saw Deckard. The film has flaws that lie mostly in some scenes that do drag a bit too much and some plot elements here and there that could either be shorten or skipped entirely, but like I said, those flaws are overcome by everything the film does right and that's why Blade Runner is to this day considered a master piece.

Blade Runner: 2049 - Review
19 October 2017
The first Blade Runner film is a flawed master piece, a movie that while has glaring flaws, they are small compared by all the good stuff, Blade Runner: 2049 is in my opinion, a near perfect master piece. I have to say I consider both films to be as good overall, but there is no denying that Blade Runner: 2049 is a more solidly crafted film, Denis Villeneuve's directing is immaculate and Deakins' cinematography is one of the best works in his entire career (And that's really saying something), so many scenes in this film made my jaw drop consistently because of how beautiful they looked, the pacing while slow, is actually consistent and gives the film a solid tone and I feel here the pacing is more consistent that it was in the first film, Ryan Gosling was amazing in this film, one of his best performances and Harrison Ford once again was fantastic as Deckard, the writing is also really good. Now there are two flaws in the film, one is not a big flaw, in fact, is not a flaw at all, is just weaker compared to the first film and that's the music, Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch both composed a fantastic score but that unfortunately pales compared to the classic original score, the second flaw is a bigger one, but like the first film, it doesn't overcomes the good things, and that's Jared Leto, he isn't really bad, is just that he doesn't really... does anything, you could put literally ANY actor and it would make no difference, I'm not sure if this is because of Leto or just his character, but like I said, is a small problem, specially compared to how much the movie does right. I strongly feel Blade Runner: 2049 will inspire future filmmakers the same way the original film did back in 1982, and if they decide to make a third film, I will eagerly wait for it.

Wonder Woman - Review
6 September 2017
Ever since the DCEU started, I wanted to see a truly great film from them and I think we finally got it. This film represents what I always loved about DC, at their best, they are capable of telling some of the most inspiring and epic stories and this is definitely one of them, Gal Gadot was excellent as Wonder Woman, she sold not just her strength but also her kindness and also Chris Pine was fantastic in this movie as Steve Trevor, also Rupert Gregson-Williams' score is amazing, while some could say he had the advantage of already having the theme from BvS composed by Junkie XL, Rupert added more amazing themes in this film, Patty Jenkins also did a great job directing this movie, specially the action scenes, No Man's Land is by far my favorite scene of the entire film, seeing Diana wanting to fight just to save innocent lives, is just, it really gives a sense of hope from her character. My only complain is really the villains, I really felt they were underused and I wish they could have been better. While Wonder Woman doesn't hit the extreme heights of movies like The Dark Knight, is still up there with Iron Man and the original Superman movies, this is one of the best movies DC has done in years and is definitely the best movie in the DCEU, this film reminded why I love DC in the first place.

Split - Review
29 August 2017
After a while, M. Night's career seemed to go nowhere, after The Village he was making terrible movie after terrible movie, The Visit was OK but in my opinion Split was his return. This is definitely the best movie M. Night has done since Unbreakable and Signs and I'm very glad, this is a really good film, it has a good sense of tension and claustrophobia, and this is achieved thanks to it's solid directing and excellent cinematography, not to mention the performances as well, Anya Taylor-Joy did a fantastic job in this film and her character was one of the most interesting in the movie, James McAvoy was amazing as Kevin, one of the best performances he has ever done, the musical score is also great, is very subtle and sometimes it gets really eerie and creepy. I also like the story and themes that this movie deals with and it makes it more interesting. Now the next things I'm going to say are big spoilers so, be warned.

SPOILERS

By far what surprised me the most was the twist ending, when a certain song started to play I was like "No... way..." and then, when i saw Bruce Willis, and I hear people talking about none other than Mr Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) I knew this film was within the same universe as the movie Unbreakable, and the smile I had because of this stayed on my face for a few days, Unbreakable is one of my favorite movies and to think that we'll finally get a sequel, so many years later, is enough to excite me, I can't wait to see where M. Night will take this series next.

Unbreakable - Review
28 August 2017
This is a movie that I enjoyed the first time I saw but with each viewing my love for it started to grow, and now is one of my all time favorite movies. Nowadays more and more people whenever someone asks them what is their favorite M. Night film, they either respond with The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable and this shouldn't be surprising, this is truly one of his greatest works, the directing is amazing and the cinematography is just gorgeous, Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson, both delivered excellent performances and they're characters were very interesting, specially Jackson's character, Mr. Glass, also, James Newton Howard's score for this film is in my opinion the best work he has ever done, specially the Orange Man cue. The story of this movie is also really good, it tells a very human and realistic story of a man who has powers, this is not your average super hero story, this is in every way very different and very unconventional. Unbreakable is a movie that deserves more attention and it seems like is finally getting it.

The Defenders - Review
23 August 2017
It's finally here, the culmination of all the four MARVEL/Netflix shows, this was my most anticipated thing of this year, mostly because I love the comics of every character and I love for the most part their shows, but like I said, regardless of my hype and expectations, I always try to be cautious with that as well, I don't want them to get in the way of my enjoyment of the show. Out of the get go this is a really good show, 8 episodes was definitely the right amount for this season, also the acting for the most part is great, Cox, Ritter and Colter as Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage were all great, as usual, Finn Jones also has improved a bit here over his performance in Iron Fist, my guess is because he had better material to work with, the cinematography is great and consistent to the rest of the series, one thing in particular I loved was the way they used colors, whenever a certain character is on-screen, the colors in the background are either red for Daredevil, purple for Jessica Jones, yellow for Luke Cage and green for Iron Fist and when they were together the colors would mix up and I loved it. The score by John Paesano is good (Though not as good as his score for Daredevil), the action scenes were for the most part good, but there were 2 particularly great action scenes, one in episode 3 and one in episode 8. Also, without getting in spoilers, the last 20 minutes of the season finale really excited me and I can't wait to see what they do with the things they set up. I would say that some minor details could have been improved here and there but overall, The Defenders gave me what I wanted and I feel for the most part very satisfied with the result, I can't wait to see the future of the other shows and to see what will happen when The Defenders season 2 arrives.

War for the Planet of the Apes - Review
22 August 2017
After two really good movies, War definitely had a lot to live up to, is not often that the third film in a trilogy or any movie franchise really, is as good as the previous movies, some few cases are Return of the King, The Bourne Ultimatum and Army of Darkness, among a few others, now we can add War to that list. Reeves has proved to be not just a good director, but a great one, his directing in this film is in my opinion the best in his entire filmography, also, I really feel this is the best movie in the reboot trilogy and is the only Apes movie that has gotten as close as the 1968 original in regards of quality. Andy Serkis also delivers his best performance as Caesar and one of his best performances ever period, and for the first time a human character does has the same depth than the apes, Woody Harrelson delivered a great performance and his character was very interesting and intimidating. Something I haven't mentioned about the two previous movies is the musical score, Michael Giacchino's score for this film is magnificent, is epic and really well done. Also out of all the movies in this trilogy, War probably has the best story out of the 3. This is truly one of the greatest conclusions to a trilogy ever and is a must watch for any fan of this franchise.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Review
22 August 2017
Back in 2011 I remember when I saw the teaser for this movie in the theater, I actually got a bit excited, the original Planet of the Apes movie from 1968 was a sci-fi master piece and while the 2001 reboot was disappointing to say the least, the cast and filmmakers behind this project gave me enough confidence to be a bit excited for it. The movie was definitely a pleasant surprise, something this movie did right was going back to the more though provoking ideas that made the franchise famous to begin with, instead of focusing on the action, this movie has a lot of themes of humans using science to play god and the consequences that come with that, and is all handled really well. Andy Serkis delivered an amazing performance, definitely one of the best in his entire career, James Franco and Freida Pinto also did a good job, though I feel the script didn't gave them much to be as memorable as Caesar. Also I feel that Rupert Wyatt's directing in this movie is a bit underrated, true, it isn't as stunning as Reeves' directing in the next two films, but Wyatt did an excellent job giving this movie a slick and beautiful look. The third act, is also just great, that is where the action starts and is done really well and is a good glimpse of what is to come later in the franchise. This is both a reboot and a prequel done right and it has become one of the greatest trilogies of all time and people should always give credit to the one that started it all.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Review
22 August 2017
After the ending of the first film, I was hoping they would make a sequel so that we could see where the story would go next, luckily in 2014 we got exactly that, and it didn't disappoint. When I heard that Wyatt was retiring as a director in this franchise, I got a bit nervous because whenever you change directors within a franchise, I can either work really well or really bad, but then I heard that they hired Matt Reeves to direct the sequel, the same man who directed Cloverfield and Let Me In, that gave me a bit more confidence in the sequel. Matt Reeves did one heck of a job directing this movie, is stunning, the cinematography is just beautiful. Andy Serkis is once again great as Caesar and Toby Kebbell was also fantastic as Koba, once again the human characters played by Jason Clarke and Keri Russell, while giving good performances, the writing of their characters never made them as interesting as the apes, but that is also because the people playing the apes are that good. I really like the story and how is executed, a lot of things you'd think would be predictable in a movie like this, are done in ways you wouldn't expect. I really think Dawn is up there with T2 and The Dark Knight as one of those few sequels that don't just live up to it's predecessor, it excels it.

Iron Fist (Season 1) - Review
22 August 2017
Out of all the 4 shows that Netflix announced way back in 2014 I believe, the one I was excited the most, was Iron Fist, I love the character and his comics, I was hyped but also cautious about this show, I always try my best to not let my hype to get in the way whenever I am watching a movie or a TV show. Once the show was finally released, I had... a very conflicting reaction (Though not as conflicting as Luke Cage), the show undeniably has a weaker quality than the previous shows that netflix produced, but then again I said before that after two hits like DD and JJ, living up to expectations would only get harder, I guess I was right, now Iron Fist has plenty of good things in it, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing was great, by far the best character in season 1, also Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum at first seemed a bit one-dimensional but he improved as the season went on, there are a few good action scenes, specially in episode 5 and there is some degree of faithfulness to the source material, I though the parts involving K'un-Lun were done for the most part very well, but then we have the negatives, while a few action scenes are good, others are also very underwhelming, also Finn Jones as Danny Rand, he isn't really as terrible as other people say, but he does leaves a lot to be desired, but then again, I am not sure if this is the script's fault, because by far the weakest part of Iron Fist is the writing, this is by far the weakest writing I have seen in all the netflix shows, which is very disappointing considering the amazing writing of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, also Trevor Morris' score really disappointed me, it was very generic and it used temp music far too much, which made the score sound like a Tron: Legacy/Daredevil cheap knock off. Unfortunately Iron Fist is the weakest thing we have seen in the MCU so far, but is still an OK show, my hopes is that this show will follow the same path of other shows like Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Supernatural and it will improve after an underwhelming first season, until it become something truly great.

Jessica Jones (Season 1) - Review
22 August 2017
After the surprising success of Netflix's Daredevil, I didn't knew what to expect about their next show, specially because I knew literally nothing about this character. When I saw it I had yet another very pleasant surprise. Sometimes I am not sure about which show is better, DD or JJ, both shows have a lot of great things about them. Once again the writing in Jessica Jones is amazing, Jessica had plenty of great lines and I loved Krysten Ritter's portrayal of the character and David Tennant was amazing as Kilgrave, his performance rivals D'Onofrio's performance as Kingpin, the score by Sean Callery is one of the best in the entire MCU, I just love the neo-noir style it has, and the show also has an excellent tone and atmosphere, Daredevil was dark because of the violence and gore, but Jessica Jones is dark because of it's themes, it deals with rape, PTSD, alcoholism, this has to be the most mature thing in the MCU so far. I was caught off guard when I watched this show, I never expected it to be as good as it was and I can't wait for season 2

Luke Cage (Season 1) - Review
22 August 2017
Netflix had 2 amazing shows in their catalogs, so obviously from this point onward is only going to be more and more difficult to live up to the expectations that people will have for their shows. Mike Colter already nailed the role of Luke Cage in Jessica Jones, so I was at least a bit more relaxed when this show was announced. To be honest this show still has me conflicted to this day, unlike the previous shows, Luke Cage seem to suffered form a switch in quality, the first 6 episodes were fantastic, almost as good as DD and JJ, but then episode 7 starts and the quality starts to decline from fantastic to average, is still relatively good but it can't be denied that the second half of the show is weaker than the first and the overall season suffers because of it. Most of the cast does a great job, Colter is one again great as Luke Cage, Simone Missick as Misty Knight was great, Mahershala Ali was fantastic, another great villain from the MARVEL/Netflix shows and I even liked Theo Rossi as Shades, though Erik LaRay Harvey as Diamondback was the weakest part of the show, but I'm not really sure who is to blame here, the actor or the writing, Diamondback was a far less interesting villain, specially compared to Cottonmouth. The musical score and the soundtrack of this show was also fantastic, it had a lot of memorable songs. So while still a great show overall, it fails to reach the heights that Daredevil and Jessica Jones reached because of it's far weaker second half, hopefully season 2 can fix some of those problems.

Daredevil (Season 1) - Review
22 August 2017
As someone who loves the Daredevil comics and hates the Daredevil movie, I was both excited and skeptical about this project, I could have been awful, but to my relief, it turn out to be pretty good, in fact, I would go as a far as to call it one of the greatest things in the MCU period. One thing that really surprised me the first time I saw this show was how dark and gritty it was, I never expected that the MCU would ever include something this dark in their catalog, but I'm so glad they did, is definitely a breath of fresh air and adds some variety in their universe. Overall the show has a very high quality, probably why people keep comparing the other MARVEL/Netflix shows to this one, the writing is excellent and almost every character has a lot of great lines, the action scenes are still to this day really impressive, specially for a TV series, also the cinematography has a very cinematic quality as well. By far one of the best things this show has is it's casting, is near perfect, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock was definitely a perfect casting choice, his portrayal of the Man Without Fear made the character justice, also Vincent D'Onofrio was amazing as Wilson Fisk and I can't wait to see more of him. Also John Paesano's score is great, specially the main theme, it really feels like the perfect music for the character. So overall, the show is truly great, one of the best thing marvel has ever done in live-action. It may slow down in some parts but the quality of this show is something that simply can't be denied.

Rurouni Kenshin - Review
13 July 2017
I have been looking desperately for a good and I mean a genuinely good anime/manga adaptation that has respect for the source material and does it justice, I finally found it in Rurouni Kenshin, this wasn't just a good adaptation, but also a great film overall, the cinematography was just beautiful, some shots in the movies literally made my jaw drop, the action choreography is also amazing, the stunts and fight scenes that they were able to pull of here is nothing short of amazing and the actors did most of their fight scenes, which makes it even more impressive, the production is also near perfect, the outfits and the sets, it almost looks like a Hollywood big budget movie in regards of quality, there is also a clear passion for the source material from almost everyone in this movie, this was clearly a movie this people wanted to make because of their love to the source material, and the actors actually for the most part delivered really good performances, as far as complains go, they are only a few, the musical score was very inconsistent, in some scenes it sounds really good and in other scenes it sounds kinda awful, and maybe they could have removed 1 or 2 of the many antagonists they have in this film, but neither of this things really damage the experience, this is still a very solid movie and a great adaption of a beloved anime and manga. All I can say is, I can't wait to see the other movies in this trilogy.
