Funny Games (2007)
Worst movie ever made... seriously
Seriously, I don't understand how some people can enjoy this movie. Im really into making movies myself as well, and they just did EVERYTHING WRONG YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE. Some shots were way too long (filming a opening and closing gate for about 2 minutes??? c'mon!) When people are talking, filming the dog instead... Seriously... Or.. when the girl shot one of the guys with the shotgun, he went like: 'where is the remote?' and he rewind a part of the movie... OK, I understand this is probably because the idea of the movie is that they don't want to display gore... BUT SERIOUSLY, IT IS RETARDED! This is by far the worst movie I have ever seen... I hate it. I don't understand how some people can like this movie... The only good thing was the actors... they played OK. and the psycho dudes were pretty cool... But the movie itself was really, really, REALLY bad.
2/10
I doubt i'm gonna see a worse movie anytime soon...
TBS (2008)
Didn't expect much, but it is really great!
Awesome movie. Just came back from seeing it. Much better then most holy wood blockbusters.
I never really was into dutch movies. But this really was something different. The story is really great, and the main Actor Theo Maassen does a great job. Apparently he's as great at acting as at stand up comedy. I never expected a comedian to do this good in a thriller, but he does a great job! The girl also plays her role really nice.
The only thing some could sometimes annoy me in the movie where the rough cuts. There were ugly cuts throughout the whole movie. They probably chose to do it this way. But they really shouldn't have... But i guess it does have it's charm.
Anyways, great movie. I would give this a 8.3, but since you can only give it round number, i give an 8. Great movie! Must see if you like thriller movies!
Live! (2007)
Starts of slow but has a great finish!
Actually everything you write about this movie is too much... This is a movie you have to know nothing about when you see it. I saw it at the Sneak Preview at my local cinema. I never heard anything about it before I saw it, never saw trailers, posters or whatever.
The movie starts of a bit slow... you will think: 'Is this it?' But really, after a while this movie gets so incredible... Even if it is only in the last half hour of the movie. That is just what you want to see it for. The last half hour.
I have nothing more to say, I do not wish to spoil the movie for you. Just go see it, you won't be disappointed.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
Pretty good book to film transfer
I went to the press screening past Friday. I wasn't expecting too much. I only saw the first 2 movies, and I didn't think they were that great. The books are just much better. But I must say, this fifth movie is pretty good. But the biggest part of criticism I have on this title is that they left too much out. I understand that the book just has way too many subplots to put in the film. But still it's a shame. Like the relationship between Harry and Cho. They only appear together in only 2 scenes!
But there were also some good things. Like the attention for detail. Like the kitty plates on the walls of Umbride her walls. That getting us to Umbridge... She was played pretty well I have to be honest. Could be better. But still pretty nice. The only thing I didn't like is that you didn't get the feeling that the other teachers hate her as well, like you do in the books.
A lot of things were different that I imagined while reading the book, but the final fight scene, did match a little bit. That was pretty nicely done. Special effect there were pretty OK (could be better, but they are not that bad)
Well, pretty nice movie. Good book to film transfer. If you liked the previous movies, go see this. If you are a fan of the book. You can go see it... but be prepared for it to be a lot different than you imagined.

The Last Legion (2007)
Good movie, don't know what people are complaining about
The movie is actually pretty good. I saw it as a sneak preview today, so i didn't know which movie they would be playing. But when it started I knew it would be a movie for me, cause I usually enjoy fantasy movies.
Don't expect anything too epic though. The acting is OK, but doesn't excel at any point. But it's good enough.
The story is good, but sometimes somethings just don't make sense. Things just happen for no apearant reason at all. But it must be said: this movie actually has some really funny parts. You'll laugh a lot actually, even though it's not a comedy. Especially the ending... You really aren't expecting 'that' to happen (go see the movie and you'll see what I mean)
Well, overall good movie. Had a nice time watching it.

300 (2006)
117 minutes of pure testosterone
I saw this movie in Imax the day after the Holland release, after being kicked out of the cinema on the day of the release. Why was I kicked out? Well... apparently they wanted to keep the 4 rows in the back empty, and didn't tell us that until the whole cinema, apart from the front row's were full... So we could either sit in front... or leave and get our money back... no one wanted to leave... they called the police, so eventually everybody in the back 4 rows left or went to front row.
AND THIS IS NOT A MOVIE TO SEE IN FRONT ROW No ladies and gentleman, this is a movie, so incredibly amazing. You should see this in all it's glory, on the 5 row from behind, where I sat the next day when I saw it.
The movie starts kind of slow, with a person telling how King Leonidas became king of the Spartans. And after that the action basically starts... and doesn't end until the movie is over. Apart from some tiny story parts in between.
But the action itself is so amazing... It blows you off of your seat. You want to go in a killing frenzy yourself... you start screaming KILL KILL KILL throughout the whole movie, until someone punches you and you are quite again... It is... 117 minutes of pure testosterone
The fighting choreography is done great. And the fighting combines all sorts of things you might have seen in other movies in a way it feels completely new. Slowmotion, Video starting to play faster, things like that.
About the visuals: They are stunning. Apart from some downsides (The rocks Leonidas climbed on weren't convincing, i think they build those by hand to be honest, instead of CG) But the overall visuals were so cool
Also the blood they did. I read about how they do it before. And in fact it is not 3d blood, but 2d. They did that to let the movie keep the feel of the comic... and it just looks.... so.. AMAZING
I guess I can just go on about this movie for ages. It is indeed one of the greatest movies I have EVER seen.
The people who are complaining about it not being historically correct just have to shut up. What is the point about that really? IT IS BASED ON A COMIC YOU MORONS.
Well, great movie. I'm pretty sure I want to go see this again in the cinema. And I can't wait until it is being released on DVD (I so want to see the making of, being into animation, and CG myself as a hobby)
Amazing movie. Must see!

Babel (2006)
Good, but boring
The movie is good, but boring at the same time. Let me explain.
When I went to see this movie, I didn't even want to see it. I just went because I had already seen all of the other movies that were out at that time.
Till about halfway the movie, It was quite boring, but as it progresses, you do get more involved with the characters, and you actually start understanding what is happening and at the end, everything falls together, like a puzzle.
The 4 story lines were perfectly in-twined with one another, although I did think the story of the Japanese girl didn't have much to do with the storyline. But that still was one of the parts that was pretty good to watch, gives you a good idea of how it is to be deaf.
This is a great movie to watch in cinema, or see it on TV once. But it is not a movie that you wan't to see more than once. Which I usually DO have with movies I enjoy (most DVD's I buy are from movies I have already seen once or twice)
So, if it is on TV once, go see it. Or you can rent it. But I don't think it's really a movie to have on DVD, cause you wont watch it more than once anyways.

Akira (1988)
This is what anime should be like
Excellent movie. This movie has influenced a lot of other anime makers, I can be quite sure.
The movie starts of with a chopper chase action scene, which is greatly animated, after that the movie relies more in story telling than on action itself. So this might not be the best movie for the typical Dragonball Z fan, who only wants action in anime (i like DBZ though, don't get me wrong. But you get my point)
As I said before, this movie relies a lot on storyline, building up to an absolute climax at the end. And this is what makes this movie so great. Some of the scenes throughout the movie, some people might find boring, but you forget all about it at the end. It just all comes together.
Music, animation, storyline. Everything comes together so perfectly in this movie. You really need to see this if you are into Anime.

Tim (1979)
One of the worst movies ever.
This is not going to be a long review. But I just want to make one thing clear: THIS MOVIE IS REALLY BAD. IT SHOULD NOT BE VIEWED BY ANYONE
A couple of years ago I bought this DVD for my mother. My name is time as well, and i saw it lying in a shop somewhere for $3, so i gave it a go. It is not worth the $3... Well. it could be. You could buy it for one of your friends as a joke. Just say it's the most amazing movie ever, and let him watch it.
Then why is the movie so bad? OK... first things first.. the DVD itself (so not the movie) IT IS CINEMA QUALITY... Yes, it is... it had scratched and stuff over the screen a lot of times. Like you are in a cinema.... guess the creators didn't like the movie either and didn't find it necessary to digitally remaster it... Not that i blame them.
The movie itself is best described as a soap... but then worse. Thought the actors in the bold and the beautiful, and other soaps like this are bad actors? Just wait until you see this. No, Mell Gibson doesn't act good in here as well, it is one of his first movies i reckon (although he still acts better then the most actors in the movie)
The story itself is completely retarded... If i recall it correctly it goes something like: Tim (Mell Gibson) plays some autistic/retarded guy, who goes gardening for someone, falls in love, stuff happens, people die (really bad acting in the dieing scene if i recall correctly). End
OK... i didn't really say much in that... but that expresses how boring the storyline is... i can't even completely remember what happened.
Ahh well, guess $3 isn't too expensive for a frisbee though. It's your money... go buy it if you like. Don't say i didn't warn you.
1/10 - Garbage
Gladiator (2000)
Amazing movie
Even after seeing it... god knows how many times. I still love this movie. It is my favorite movie anyways, or at least one of my favorites.
The movie just has a lot in it, from epic action scenes, like the opening battle, to really emotional scenes, this also is the only movie ever that made me cry, and i don't cry that easily. The actors in this movie are really skilled anyways (especially Russel Crow, it is one of his best movies in my opinion)
You also really believe you are there. They really gave it the correct feeling. They even build a colosseum just for shoot this movie (well.. 60% of a colosseum that is)
If you haven't seen it already, run to the nearest DVD dealer and buy it now!
