Great visually but boring
29 January 2022
This really is an experience. A very unique yet fitting filming style along with great sound and some stunning visuals make this into a very immersive experience. However, I just found the film pretty boring. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this type of film, but in general I found both the plot and the characters pretty boring and uninteresting.

Satisfying sequel
25 January 2022
Nice sequel. Worse villain and not as fun but the story is better and more emotional. Also, badass ending. Skadoosh. I personally prefer the original because while the action packed sequel is cool and all, I feel like the original had a better feeling to it. It had a better villain and was funnier. But still, two great movies.

Everybody is kung fu fighting
24 January 2022
Yeah everybody is kung fu fighting. This is a great film. I am normally not the biggest fan of animated movies but this one was great. It is funny, it looks great, and it is a surprisingly well-written film. Tons of great quotes and the story is great. Overall great movie. The main character is so relatable, everybody says I'm fat but they don't know that I am actually super cool and I can kick everybody's ass if I want to.

This is how I think I drive
23 January 2022
I know why Bauserjunior likes it because stunts and drive but for me that is all there is to it. I just found it lame, except for Jamie Foxx, he was pretty cool. Also, I don't like Lily James. Dont ask me why.

Good acting but boring
16 January 2022
At the end of the day, this probably wasn't worth the watch to be honest. Tom Hardy is cool, he and Benedict Cumberbatch deliver good performances, and the story is a bit interesting when taking the fact that it is a real story into account. However, the film is just boring, plain and simple.

Aesthetically great psychological thriller with some unexpected horror
16 January 2022
Cillian Murphy and Chris Evans are great in this psychological thriller, which turns into a horror film in the third act. Amazing visuals supported by a great and booming score along with the great acting and an interesting story make "Sunshine" a very enjoyable film.

Much has been said of the tonal shift in the third act but I disagree with the notion that there even was much of a tonal shift. The film already had a pretty dark tone overall, with its depiction of psychological struggles. To me, one of the best parts of this film was observing the various psychological intricacies that differentiate the characters. Each character deals with their gloomy fate in very different ways. The horror part of the film was executed well too. I am not an avid horror-watcher myself so while I can't speak on the quality of the horror in comparison to other horror films, I can certainly say that it served its purpose for me and raised my pulse a bit during some sequences.

However, what dragged this film down a bit was the story. It is an interesting and enjoyable plot, but I don't think the execution of it is very consistent. During some parts, it was very difficult to keep track of what was happening. In some scenes it was probably intentional, but not being able to understand what going on during some important moments breaks the immersion a bit.

Overall, this film was a pretty great watch and a film that I can recommend. Great actors, great visuals, and a great score. The plot is interesting and if you don't have anything against a bit of horror, you might just enjoy this film.

Disappointing once again
12 January 2022
This episode was another disappointment from the "The Book of Boba Fett" series. We are back to bad storytelling, stale dialogue, slow and just bad combat and bad visual effects. Honestly, some of the visual effects seen is this episode are comparable to visual effects from the original trilogy. Back then they sufficed, but this isn't how a Star Wars TV-series should be looking in 2022. There was just a lot about this episode that was off. Disappointing to say the least.

A couple of laughs but now I hate it
11 January 2022
I went into "Scary movie" thinking that it would be a horror movie. It was not a horror film, but it was a comedy. Now, there were some funny moments throughout where I actually laughed, but the rest of the film is laughably bad and because of a "friend" I have now acquired an everlasting hatred for this film.

Deadpool (2016)

Absolutely hilarious but not for everyone
9 January 2022
"Deadpool" is absolutely hilarious. The story isn't groundbreaking, but it does the trick and the same goes for the action which isn't bad either. The greatness of this film lies in its humor and its uniqueness. It isn't like every other superhero film. Whether you talk about the constant breaking of the fourth wall, the R-rating, or any of the very different characteristics of this film that differentiate it from other superhero movies. To be frank, it's arguable doesn't even justify the "superhero" stamp. It's something different.

It needs to be said, the film might not be for everyone. It's very crude and it's filled with nudity and violence. The humor won't appeal to everyone either. It's quite dark sometimes and very satirical. Sure, "Deadpool" isn't for everyone, but to the right audience, it's a masterpiece. The humor is great and there are countless hilarious jokes throughout that will make you laugh. Ryan Reynolds is perfect for Deadpool and he does so well in the role. It is a truly great performance by him.

To sum up, "Deadpool" is a great film that might not be for everyone. I recommend it.

Very interesting subjects and beautiful visuals
8 January 2022
"Welcome to Earth" starring Will Smith has somewhat of a weak start, but the rest of it is pure gold. Visually, each episode is amazing. Some of the environments we visit throughout are breathtaking and there are tons of gorgeous shots in each episode. The content of each episode is good too, some of the topics are more interesting than others, but that is entirely up to personal taste. To me, episode 2, 3, 5, and 6 are the best ones. Will Smith is a great narrator to follow in the show. He adds some comedy and he is very likable. Overall, this is a series that I'd recommend. Some of the subjects are incredibly interesting and the production value behind the series is amazing.

An improvement on the pilot
5 January 2022
Chapter 2 of "The Book of Boba Fett" is certainly an improvement on the first chapter of the series. Firstly, a major gripe about the first episode was the action, but that was majorly improved in the second chapter. It wasn't at all as slow and the effects weren't at all as bad. It had better choreography, it was faster, more hard-hitting, and it looked a lot cooler. The story is an improvement too. There were a few cool moments with new characters and creatures introduced that look pretty interesting. There were still a few gripes to be had about the story. There were some elements that were a bit poorly explained and some parts that seemed a bit illogical, but it didn't totally destroy the experience. Overall, this episode did a better job of setting the stage for the coming episodes in the series than the pilot.

Emotional return to the wizarding world
3 January 2022
The celebratory TV Special for the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter film is a nostalgic ride that goes over all of the eight films. It contains behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive interviews with both actors and directors.

This is a highly recommended watch for those whose childhood is filled with watching the Harry Potter films. It is great to hear from the actors and directors and get new perspectives on the great films. It is a very nostalgic and emotional return to the wizarding world of Harry Potter. It isn't that long and definitely worth a watch if you are a fan of the movies.

Free Guy (2021)

Childish and fun with great visual effects
3 January 2022
"Free Guy" is a fun and humorous story starring Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds is the main highlight of the film, delivering the comedic scenes elegantly. Overall there are quite a few funny scenes and the concept of the film is interesting. However, if not for Reynolds the film wouldn't have been that great as a few of the performances from the supporting cast are lackluster. Furthermore, even just the plot involving Reynolds is much more enjoyable than the point of view of the real world people.

Still, "Free Guy" is a childish and fun movie with some beautiful visual effects throughout. Not the most thoughtful film out there, but a pretty enjoyable one.

An action masterpiece
2 January 2022
"Mission: Impossible - Fallout" is the sixth entry of the "Mission: Impossible" series and the best entry thus far. "Fallout" is a masterpiece. It continues the tradition of the series, where it gets better with each film. This one improves on the older films in every aspect. It has pretty much everything: the action, the stunts, the visuals, the twists. It's a thrilling experience where the viewer is kept on their toes at all times.

Starting with the action, it is clean, hard-hitting, and it is both directed superbly and brilliantly performed by the actors. This is true when it comes to both the fight scenes and the vehicle scenes. They drive cars, motorcycles, and everything in between throughout the film and it all looks great.

The action wouldn't have been as good without its great stunts. I won't ramble on about Tom Cruise for too long but once again, he puts on a remarkable performance. A lot of the stunts are mind-blowing and I have no clue how the man does it, especially now being in his late 50s. Some of these stunts are impossible to describe with words. There is a great amount of documentation of these stunts and they are a must-watch to fully appreciate the film. Cruise risks his life multiple times for the sake of the audience's entertainment and he deserves recognition for it.

The visuals are great too, some of the shots in this film were absolutely awe-inspiring. Not only in the way they capture Cruise's stunts but also in the pure beauty of some of the shots. There are plenty that could be named in this review but it is best to watch the film for yourself and see it with your own eyes.

The story in "Fallout" is great too. The villain is great for starters and the intricate story is enthralling to watch unfold. It sure is complicated, but pay attention and it isn't that hard to follow. There are plenty of great twists in this film and they never feel out of place. The viewer is constantly kept guessing and wondering where the story will go next.

If there is something to be thrown at the film it might be either that the film is a bit unrealistic at times or that they repeat some of the old tricks from the older movies. The former is more justified than the latter. Some of the action is a bit over-the-top and unrealistic. It is purely up to personal taste to decide whether that is a negative or not. When it comes to some of the old tricks, they do kind of repeat some elements from the older films, but not to the detriment of the experience. Maybe you'll realize after something happens that you recognize it, but you can never easily see it coming and it is generally done very well.

In summary, "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" is a great film. This film is for the viewer looking for great action, incredible stunts, and stunning visuals. It is an absolutely incredible action movie from start to finish.

Logan (2017)

Great decision to make it rated R
30 December 2021
"Logan" is the final part of the Wolverine trilogy. It depicts the end of the main X-men characters. Logan is the first film I have watched within the "X-men universe" or whatever you call it, and it was great. "Logan" follows a now old and bitter Wolverine, who is waiting to die with no purpose in his life. That changes when he encounters a child, a mutant.

A great part about "Logan" is its relationships. The dynamic between Logan and Charles is a great father-son relationship and it's great to follow. Likewise, it's great to follow the dynamic between Logan and Laura and their father-daughter relationship. She brings something different out of Logan and makes him rethink his view on life and his decisions.

The story in this film is great. The story is sometimes slow but still enjoyable and not boring. It isn't that complicated of a story, but it manages to keep the viewer on their toes through the whole movie while creating an interesting story where the tension continues to gradually rise and rise until it culminates at the very end. Visually the film is impressive. It is aesthetically very pleasing to look at and it makes great use of different colors and different environments.

The great visuals continue when it comes to the action which is also great. The action is fast-paced, hard-hitting, and brutal. It is also easy to follow and the combat looks absolutely brutal which is great. The decision to make this film rated R is a great one. The action wouldn't have been as great without the brutality and gore made possible by the R-rating. It is also refreshing to hear unfiltered language in films, especially a movie like "Logan" which could've been turned into a marvel-like superhero film, which wouldn't have fit at all.

Hugh Jackman as Logan is absolutely amazing. He brings a great performance and he contributes a lot to Logan being the badass that he is in this movie.

To summarize, "Logan" is a great film about redemption and is absolutely worth a watch. I'm not sure if having not watched the prior films made my experience of watching "Logan" better or worse, but I can say that you should watch it even if you haven't watched the other films.

Great continuation of great franchise
30 December 2021
"Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" is the fifth entry of the "Mission: Impossible" series. Following the great "Ghost Protocol", "Rogue Nation" had big boots to fill.

Compared to "Ghost Protocol", "Rogue Nation" is a better movie. It is much more consistent. It matches the greatness of its predecessor but manages to keep it going from start to finish. Whereas "Ghost Protocol" faltered at the third act, "Rogue Nation" is great all the way to the final whistle.

To start, the pacing in this film is great. There are parts throughout the film filled with the great and amazing action which the series is known for. Between each "action-part" like this, the viewers get time to calm down and regenerate. The movie makes great use of these slower parts to build the characters and the story, both of which are great in the film. Jeremy Renner's Brandt finally redeems himself for me, with me being someone who was unsure of the character after "Ghost Protocol". Renner comes into his own in this film and the character becomes more than the guy who questions Ethan Hunt's every decision. Another character who shines is Simon Pegg's Benji. He brings comedy during a pretty serious story and does it very well, with Pegg also bringing his A-game outside of his comedic scenes. Overall, there are many great performances from the cast.

You can't talk about "Mission: Impossible" and not mention Tom Cruise. "Rogue Nation" might feature his best performance as Ethan Hunt yet. He brings great acting and just like in "Ghost Protocol", he pulls out all the stops in this film. Like the scene at Burj Khalifa in "Ghost Protocol", you can't ignore his airplane scene in this film. Having a multi-million dollar movie star dangling on the outside of an airplane is insanity. Tom Cruise is amazing and his dedication to the craft is awe-inspiring. It doesn't end with the airplane either. The car chase in the city, the motorcycle chase in the mountains, all performed by Tom Cruise himself. It adds a lot to the film and the action is partly because of that absolutely great in this film.

The story in this iteration of the "Mission: Impossible" series is also good. It features its best villain yet, whose mysteriousness, deceitfulness, and cunning makes for an interesting story where Ethan Hunt can't simply fight his way to victory. There are plenty of twists and turns throughout the film and all of them served their purpose in surprising the audience and creating a new dimension of intrigue to the film. However, it needs to be said that the general gist of a "Mission: Impossible" movie is becoming slightly predictable and hopefully any movie after "Rogue Nation" will switch up on the formula. The formula works very well but in the future, it is likely to get repetitive if not changed.

To summarize, "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" had big boots to fill. After having watched the film, it is safe to say that those boots were filled. I don't know how but the franchise continues to improve on itself time after time without fail. I'm excited to see what is next for Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt and if the series can continue to improve with every film.

Weak start for Boba Fett
29 December 2021
The first episode of "The Book of Boba Fett" wasn't all bad, but not very good either. The episode is divided into two main parts, one taking place in the present, and one taking place in the past. The two parts have weak action in common, but also some different issues. The former is a bit short and could've gone into further detail about what happens after the Mandalorian season 2 and how Boba Fett and Fennec get to the point where the show starts. The dialogue during the former is also a bit stale and in general, it doesn't really feel like the space-gangster-epic promised. The latter is a bit better but could've also gone into better detail about what happens to Boba Fett. The way they explain his survival is a bit cheap and not as cool as it perhaps should've been. Throughout the entire episode, the action is pretty slow and poor. It is understandable that Temuera Morrison can't perform fast-paced and hard-hitting combat but they should've done it better instead of trying to make him look more powerful through the use of sound and his facial expressions. On the whole, Boba Fett should've been a lot cooler than he is and the episode should've been a lot better than it is.

Tom Cruise pushes himself to to the limits for entertainment
29 December 2021
The fourth iteration of the "Mission: Impossible" series is a film with a captivating story, great action, and incredible stunts. It improves on "MI-3" in multiple ways. The story is easier to follow and arguably more interesting and enjoyable, while also shedding some of the unnecessary twists and sidetracking of the older movies. With another great performance from Tom Cruise, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" is certainly a big improvement on its predecessors and the best entry of the first four "Mission: Impossible" movies.

Throughout the entire film, the action is persistently great. While not as hard-hitting and brutal as other competing movies in the genre it makes up for it with its great stunts performed by mainly Tom Cruise. There are many stunning stunts throughout the film but maybe the most impressive one is performed on the outside, I repeat, the outside, of Burj Khalifa. Having watched behind-the-scenes footage, it is safe to say that Tom Cruise is a man to admire. If not for the person, then for the actor and the performer. Regardless of his views, he has to be respected for how he pushes himself to the limits for entertainment.

Continuing on, the story is exciting and interesting. With the story being an aspect in which its predecessors all were lacking, it is great to see the movies of the franchise continue to improve on one another, time after time. With that being said, however, it still isn't flawless. The first two thirds of the film are great with a fast pace, an exciting plot, and great action ever-present to back the story up. The last third of the movie, however, loses the pace of the other acts and fails somewhat to hold up the standard of action and storytelling.

To summarize, "Ghost Protocol" is like "MI-3" an improvement on all of its predecessors, but it still isn't able to completely perfect its art. "Ghost Protocol" has great action and an enjoyable story that keeps the viewer on their toes for the duration of the entire 2 hours and 12 minutes of cinema. For all fans of the action genre, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" is a film worth a watch and a film that I would recommend to anyone.

Big improvement on its predecessors
28 December 2021
The third installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise is miles better than its predecessors. The action is much improved from the last two films with the first largely lacking it and the action in the second one turning out very over-dramatic. The action in this entry of the series is thrilling, fast-paced, and also grounded. The story keeps the viewer interested throughout the whole two hours with it constantly developing and changing with its many twists and turns. Some were great and added a lot to the story, but some were not needed and were not given enough time to be explored which meant that some large twists that should've felt very impactful lacked that very impact and instead felt forced and rushed. However, it didn't impact the viewer's ability to enjoy the film too much, and with good acting from the likes of Tom Cruise and Philip Seymour Hoffman, it was still an enjoyable watch.

Overall, Mission: Impossible 3 is worth watching. It both starts and ends very well. It boasts great action and a good story that results in an enjoyable two hours of cinema.

Incredibly over-dramatic
26 December 2021
Mission: Impossible II had a promising start, but got out of hand as time went on. In the beginning we have plenty of great scenes, like the rock-climbing in the intro or the car chase in the mountains. The plot is interesting and fun, but it all comes crashing down after some time when the action begins.

Where do I start? There were a couple of problems. The action is incredibly over-dramatic and unrealistic. Some stunts were impressive, but in the context of the movie it just didn't work. I like my spy movies grounded, and when I see movements that defy physics, like a man being thrown over a meter into the air by a karate kick to the chin, it takes me out of the movie. There were a lot of moments like that where you can't help but question what you are seeing, and that is never a good thing. There were so many scenes that were unrealistic and over-dramatic to the point where it just got ridiculous. It was the same when it came to usage of slowmotion. The slowmotion was very overused and it sometimes destroyed the immersion. The cinematography in general was a bit weird sometimes. Sometimes, it would zoom in on characters faces way too often and often during weird moments. The sound design on the guns was a bit off as well.

As listed above, there where a lot of negatives about this film, but it wasn't all bad. There were some good moments and the story had some interesting aspects to it, but when you question something, you begin to question everything and thats when you see a lot of flaws with this film.

Where is the action?
25 December 2021
Mission: Impossible is the first entry of the Mission: Impossible series and a rather weak one. Effects and action are important aspects of spy movies and while the movie would be slightly better with the technology of today, it still would have been a pretty poor film. The plot is quite convoluted and confusing at times, there is barely any action and the identity of the mole is very predictable.

However, the movie isn't unwatchable and there is a pretty memorable scene with a heist involving a big vault that has become quite iconic.

Better than expected
23 December 2021
The Unforgivable was actually quite good, which I didn't expect. Usually, the Netflix exclusives tend to fall short, but their latest film featuring Sandra Bullock with a brilliant performance as the main character is an emotional drama that catches the attention of its audience straight out of the gate and delivers a powerful third act. While not flawless, it is better than the typical Netflix exclusive and is a pretty good watch.

The Witcher (2019– )

The amazing Henry Cavill shines bright in great adaption of legendary fantasy books
23 December 2021
In short, I would recommend The Witcher to pretty much everyone, especially those into fantasy and action. It excels in its layered portrayal of its characters and the colorful and double-edged depictions of the relationships between them. The world of the series is vast and filled with lore. The action is a major strong point and the monsters we face throughout the series look amazing and are both interesting and terrifying.

The Witcher will most likely remind you a lot of A Game of Thrones, and while they do share some similarities, The Witcher is far from a derivative clone of the great hit series. The Witcher does also, as stated previously, have a great world, great characters, and great action. Something that makes The Witcher different is the great relationships. Especially between our two main characters, whose father and daughter relationship is great to watch and see develop.

The great acting is something to behold in this show. Freya Allan does a great job as Ciri. As does Anya Chalotra as Yennefer. Someone who probably will go under the radar a bit is Joey Batey as Jaskier. Not only does he deliver musically, being an integral part of the great music in the show, he also manages to deliver the comedic moments gracefully while still keeping his character grounded and likable. The biggest acting display though comes from Henry Cavill as Geralt. He fits the character perfectly. He says so much with so few words using very small and subtle facial expressions and body language. I've become quite the fan of him while watching the show and his love for the books, the games, and the character in general really does shine through, on the screen, and off the screen.

Action is of course something important in a show like this and The Witcher totally delivers on that front. The action is fast-paced, hard-hitting, intense, violent, and brutal. The fight scenes are very impressive. They are shot beautifully and in a way where it is easy to follow what is happening. The monsters are a big part of what makes the action great. There is a great variety of monsters with various characteristics that differentiate them from each other and makes each battle unique, interesting, and enjoyable. The CGI is seamless and they truly look beautiful.

The show is admittedly not flawless. The plot in season one can be difficult to follow sometimes and both season one and two has some episodes with less content than others and some storylines that are less interesting and enjoyable than others.

The Witcher is still, to summarize, a great show with few flaws. I've grown fond of the characters and I've become a fan of especially Henry Cavill due to his amazing acting performance. The world and the characters are interesting, the action and the monsters are great, and the plot is intriguing and compelling. You should absolutely give The Witcher a try. It has become one of my favorite shows and I can't wait for the next season to arrive.

All-out action
22 December 2021
Mad Max: Fury Road is non-stop, full-throttle, all-out action for a good two hours straight. If you are into that then this film is perfect for you. If you aren't, then I'd suggest that you watch something else.

This is a movie you watch for the action and only the action. It is truly amazing in that aspect. The cinematography and stunts are groundbreaking and exceptional with tons of impressive sequences. I've heard that the producers utilized very little amounts of CGI; director George Miller has claimed that 90% of the movie's special effects were practical, not computer-generated. This genuinely amazed me when I was watching the movie. In general, the film delivers visually as well. It looks absolutely stunning at times with an impressive usage of colors and visual effects that look incredible. For example, there is a dust storm in which we see some shots that look truly spectacular. Mad Max: Fury Road is not only exciting to watch, but it is also beautiful.

The problem with this movie is that we get little to no breaks from the action. The plot is pretty shallow and not that unique. I've seen plenty of other movies in similar settings, but with better plots. Some pauses to engage more with the characters or to explore the world would've served the movie well.

While some movies may have similar settings and better plots, very few have action of the same caliber as Mad Max: Fury Road. The action is fun to watch and the acting from Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron enhances the intensity of the action significantly. If you seek exciting action, look no further than Mad Max: Fury Road. If you seek something more than that, you'll have to keep looking.

The world and the characters are interesting, the action and the monsters are great, and the plot is intriguing and compelling. You should absolutely give The Witcher a try. It has become one of my favorite shows and I can't wait for the next season to arrive.
