Spectacular!
MamadNobari9712 October 2022
All the slow-burn build-ups pay off in the most spectacular and awe-inspiring way in this amazing episode.

This is without a doubt the first time since Mandalorian I've ever enjoyed a piece of Disney Star Wars and is one of the most intense, fun, breathtaking, well-written episodes of any show I have ever seen, and The Eye was so amazing and jaw-dropping that makes me wanna write this review quickly so I can rewatch the episode.

This episode not only has "good looks" and scenes that are only eye candy, but also a lot of character development and story progression.

The action is really good, the visuals are amazing, no character feels one-dimensional and all of them feel complex and like actual characters thanks to the good writing.

Andor himself changes a lot in this episode and his motivations are evolved when he sees himself in Skeen and sees how other people see him.

This episode was all around one of the best things that have come out of Star Wars and it is just a joy to experience. It had spectacular visuals, great acting, good action, great pacing, and surprisingly really emotional.

This show is shaping up to be not only one of the only few great shows that have come out of Disney Plus and Star Wars next to Mandalorian, but a great show in general considering that you can basically watch this show without even having to watch Rogue One first, let alone the other 16 Star Wars movies and show.

This episode has the best (Star Wars) visual fx. ever
ciobi-5117912 October 2022
The most unique point of view from the entire franchise makes this tv show to be the best tv series from this year. I know SW influencers like Den of Bearbs or Smurf Wars Theory despise this show and think they have some kind of right because they are knowing everything about SW universe and for them everything resumes to lasers and stormtroopers, but they forget many of the fans who like both Star Wars and Star Trek, the ones they hate the most, are here even from the first trilogy and they are the fans of this series too. The creators succed to make the viewers to like even the villans, if you can call them villains, because they are just persons from the other side, you actually feel sorry for them if you see them bleeding, everything is treated with such a maturity which could make even the Star Trek movies to look like some childish productions. Probably this is the greatest SW tv episode ever and the music score is one of the greatest, too.

The most Beautiful episode in the Star Wars universe
jarlebf12 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This series has grown to be a masterpiece, and i truly believe this is how star wars is supposed to be made. With a more adult approach were people are viewed as normal people in their own world with their own problems. U kind of get to feel for all people in this universe on both sides.

I really got the goosebumps throughout my whole body when they left that hangar.

The gritty vibe and seriousness leading up to this heist was the perfect dynamic for a great climax!

Cinematography is stunning 10/10

Tony Gilroy has done an amazing job once again.

Never keep making Star Wars mr. Gilroy!

Man i wished i saw this episode in a theatre. I would have turned to the dark side and back, and back again. And back.

This is my first ever review on Imdb btw...

Spectacular character work and stakes.

Warning: Spoilers
I really am speechless. That was a fantastic episode! I'm impressed by the script, the effects and the characters. I appreciate how they demonstrate that there are good people on both sides; with morally grey people mixed in. This show is so character centered, and it is as if every person has motivations, and is striving for something. The previous 2 episodes did a great job because it made this episode mean that much more.

Everything that could have gone wrong with the job, went wrong. Drastically. I was definitely not expecting so many to die. Especially after their backstories had been deveoping. But that makes it feel like there are real stakes.

We have never seen anything like this is Star Wars and it is amazing. Tons of payoff in this episode.

The wait was worth it
movieturtle201312 October 2022
All this build up and character development, all leading up to a climactic episode. I was at the edge of my seat the entire time! The tension was on point. At every turn I suspected something to go wrong and I was not disappointed.

The visuals are phenomenal! The score literal perfection. The heist itself was flawlessly executed. Nothing felt undeserved and easily acquired.

The stakes were high and the humanity was never lost in a sleek rebel vs empire fight we get in most star wars stories.

The previous episodes were all leading to one hell of a climax and I cannot wait how it goes from there. I cared so much for characters I hardly spent any time with just because the development was amazing. I was shocked and conflicted by the end.

I cannot stress this enough how much of a fan I am of this show!

Memorable episode
snoozejonc12 October 2022
The mission gets underway.

This is a strong action thriller with plenty of tension and exciting spectacle.

There is little about the plot I can say without spoiling, except that the mission sequence unfolds very well with good suspense, visuals and performances.

There are also some good character moments in the aftermath and it keeps certain characters interesting and the intrigue high about what comes next.

One scene involving imperial officers discussing the Aldhani people is slightly moustache twirly and a bit heavy on the exposition, but apart from this everything flows very well.

Visually the episode is superb, with lots of moments that should entertain Star Wars fans that do not feel like pure fan service, particularly the relevant use of TIE Fighters and the scenes in the Imperial Senate. The music enhances everything.

Tense, Cathartic, Unpredictable, and Not at All Like Star Wars
AntoniusLeontius14 October 2022
If every episode before this one seemed slow and laborious, it is because it has slowly and carefully built a tower of dominoes which is now complex and anxious to behold. Then, with perfectly organized chaos, it comes crashing down in a spectacle of awe, complete with betrayal, shots fired, fear, all while trying to escape the countdown of certain doom. "The Eye" is Andor's best episodic achievement to this point. It blends action relatable to our time here in 2022, and transfers it to a galaxy a long time ago, far far away.

There are documentary camera techniques where the camera operator clearly walks with the camera, creating a feel that is nothing like Star Wars. The colorless hues in the filming portray a deep sense of noir and realism. Of course, these are things which we see throughout the series, but they become ever the more evident when innocents are threatened, morality is cheapened, and obstacle upon obstacle is encountered and tensely and viciously navigated.

This is not your Grandpa's Star Wars. And the creators behind it will admit as much, and in fact intend as much. If there is any criticism to be had, it is exactly because of that - the somewhat campier and fantastical feel of the original Star Wars is gone. There is no mysterious otherworldly Force that controls destinies. Gone is the grand classical score of Williams, replaced with a techno score reminiscent of Bladerunner. The exotic props, sayings, and destinations of the Star Wars universe take far less stage, and you could just as easily transfer the entire plot to a modern 2022 setting and it's likely that the feel of the show would remain precisely the same. This is probably both the show's blessing and curse. It has deviated so far from the Star Wars feel that it is likely to have complaints from someone, somewhere. But if you were looking to find something that far exceeds the mediocre dribble that was the Book of Boba Fett, and you are willing to see Star Wars in a much darker light, "The Eye" has now turned "Andor" into the roller coaster ride we always wanted. Though it is my personal hope that aesthetic feel of the show does not trend in this direction, "The Eye" turns "Andor" into a remarkable achievement.

Speechless
Kadu11312 October 2022
Unique, dramatic, adult, unpredictable... one of the best episodes of all Star Wars to date, it will bring tears to your eyes.

Andor is so surprisingly good as a Star Wars series, he can only be match by mandalorian series of course, but this is good, really good, from all characters, since the rebels to the imperials, so well written, they feel very real, very emotional, each one with their motivation's, but in the end the goal is the same... for the rebellion!!!

This episode didn't disappoint a bit, the end game of this three episode chunks is truly spectacular, with a bittersweet and dramatic ending, man, i can't wait for what comes next.

The Eye
lassegalsgaard17 October 2022
It's interesting how this show keeps showing us different sides of the Empire, showing us their suppressive ways on many worlds and how they differ from each other. In the sixth episode of this show, the second three-episode arc is brought to a close with a visual flare that this show hasn't utilized before now. It continues to show the unique nature of these worlds and how the locals see the Empire, most of it through the lense of people trying to rip them off. And it happened in a glorious episode that picked up the pace and brought the arc to a satisfying end.

This was probably the most visually impressive episode of this show to date. The Eye has been teased in previous episodes, but nothing could have really prepared anyone for the kind of beauty that is on display here. It's a riveting effect that makes a powerful statement about how CGI can really improve something if everything else looks like it's in-camera. The other shows have not utilized real-life sets in favor of their volume stagecraft, but this show proves that it always looks better like this. But the visuals isn't the only reason why the episode works, because it also features a riveting action sequence, finally delivering on the heist that has been teased through episodes. This show is absolutely great at teasing these epic chapters and so far, they've been able to deliver. It shows a dangerous foe that has never felt more threatening with the Empire, showing them as competent and good at aiming for once. But it also shows the gray areas that our heroes have to deal with, especially in the aftermath of the big event. And while this episode did not focus a whole lot on what was going on at the ISB, it was luckily not missed as much in this episode as it previously had, because of everything that was helping the pace a great deal. It also helped that the episode was far more brutal than expected with a lot of shock value to boost, showing me that this show is not afraid of doing things differently.

"The Eye" is a visually stunning episode of a show that is proving to not be scared to make changes and not do things orderly. It delivers on the promise of an epic heist and it goes off with a lot of unexpected twists and turns and ends the episode on a satisfyingly somber note.

Incredible
maxglen12 October 2022
What can I say? Absolutely stunning throughout. The cinematography and effects were stunning, I was absolutely in awe of the visuals this episode. The acting and writing were spot on and engaging. Tense as anything with riveting action sequences. It almost felt like a Christopher Nolan movie at times. I love the three episode arc structure where we get the build up episodes and then the kicker at the end, it allows each storyline to fester and build so that the conclusion feels earned. Of course the real focus of this episode was the heist but Mon Mothma and Luthen both get attention back on Coruscant and I enjoy seeing their storylines simmer and flex in response to happenings elsewhere in the galaxy. Just a wonderfully well made and stunning piece of television which makes me sad more people aren't watching this show. 10/10 from me. Thank you for reading my review.

The Surprise from Below
tristan_1912 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is it ! Andor is such a unique and creative spin on the Star Wars Universe and it is masterfully maneuvered by writers and directors who know their craft extremely well.

The Eye is a splendid climax, and as good as some of the other peaks in the SWU like ARC Troopers, Carnage of Krell, Redemption and The Tragedy.

The music is stunning and creates the perfect atmospheres and moods at the right times. Nemik's humanity is still at the forefront. The writing and cinematography are off the wall, with splendid imagery in the sky during an escape. The cast is impeccable and the directors know how to direct action in a way that matters.

The stakes are real. Anyone can die at any moment, or betray each other and it can feel natural. The only thing is we know Cassian will survive, but apart from that, it is pretty much tense all the way through.

Episode 6 is excellent at setting the scene, the stage for what is yet to come, while providing an iconic set piece and location. The Imperial troopers feel real and it was awesome to see them be afraid for once.

Skeen tried to double cross the group and leave, but we get a double twist with Cassian killing him and wanting out himself. I can't wait for the next episode.

The Eye
Prismark108 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Finally at long last the heist takes place. It is well orchestrated as I expect anything that carries the Star Wars name to do.

The episode also shows how the Empire subjugates the people it has conquered. In this case the Dhanis who have lost access to many of their customs and rituals.

Commandant Beehaz (Stanley Townsend) placates these locals by allowing them to venture to the annual solstice, a spectacular meteor shower also known as the Eye.

For the rebels this lightshow will be the cover to launch their raid.

I did wonder if the Dhanis plight mirrored that of the Palestinians. That is Star Wars getting very political.

For Andor there is an important character development, he might not be here to make friends. He is loyal and turns down an opportunity to get greedy.

An episode like The Eye should had been shown much earlier in this series.

Continuing to impress
vandykeu12 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was epic. The tension-building was incredible, the action scenes were epic, and the writing, directing, and acting remain the best SW has ever had.

I'm going to focus on one important detail that I don't think any star wars media has ever done as well as this episode does. The episode makes a point to introduce us to the base commander's family. They show the son is sick, the wife just wants to get off this backwater rock, and the commander is clearly doing what he can to try to move up the chain to a better posting. Later, in the heist itself, the commander appears to suffer a heart attack due to the stress and work.

This is a degree of sympathy for 'the bad guy' that I've never seen in Star Wars before. It is a clear message that the imperials are made up of people 'just following orders'. They are people, not automatons. Like a lot of Germans in WW2, they are people who are trying to make the best out of a bad situation, and doing bad things in order to make their own way.

This is a really important and mature turn for Star Wars. It is a step away from the cartoonish 'evil empire'. Yes- the emperor and vader are clearly evil, as are many imperials, but a lot of imperials are just taking a paycheck. That doesn't make them good, and nor should we be rooting for them, but they are people, and this is the first show to really acknowledge that, as opposed to a horde of faceless stormtroopers.

Bravo to this production team.

Telling a great story should be #1
ctaguilera-7487817 October 2022
Andor is doing something that other Disney productions, even Mando to an extent have forgotten. Tell a good story first regardless what it is because stories are universal. George Lucas told his story through a backdrop of intergalactic politics and adventure but in the end it could have been set anywhere. That's what Andor is doing, forget the Skywalkers, Jedi, Sith and familiar elements of what we think of in Star Wars. Problem is the writers from Obi-Wan, Boba drop the characters in and write stories around them producing disjointed productions. Legacy characters are great but sometimes they get in the way of telling their own story.

Best episode of the season so far
mchugh6612 October 2022
What Star Wars should be, everything you want other than light sabres, Jedi's and baby Yoda. Last episode was rather slow but this makes up for it. This series has 12 episodes so hopefully each new episode will expand on each other and be better than the last. The TIE fighter launch and English accents give the series a more polished and grown up 'adult' feel. An excellent, modern but nostalgic series to rival the quality and success of The Mandalorian. Although there is minimal humour compared to its predecessors, the show is gripping and more than makes up for it with stunning visuals, great understated acting and the sound effects that the franchise is famous for. The comet sequence is magic and makes me wish we lived in a world where we could witness it in real life.

Brilliant
danielmartin-7696112 October 2022
Brilliant episode. One of my favorite episodes of all the Star Wars shows thus far. Great energy and pace, high stakes, some great twists and turns, visually stunning, enoying the characters, absolutely loved it. It doesn't even have the force or lightsabers! Its just great storytelling!

I love the adult tone to this show as opposed to many of the other Disney star wars shows, people die, its not just the good guys win because of plot holes that don't make sense. Andor is overall a fantastic addition to the star wars universe and I would love to see future shows and movies continue this same tone.

Star Wars hasn't been this good since "Empire"
Geekofriendly13 October 2022
Among a great cast and crew, the unsung heroes of "Andor" are its writer Dan Gilroy and composer Nicholas Britell. The first one has created smart SW characters and intertwined them into a surprisingly absorbing story, the second one added soul and raw emotions to the story as it unfolds in front of our eyes.

"Andor", to me, is doing the impossible. It's making me interested in Star Wars again. Yes, Grogu is great, but The Mandalorian (2019)'s simple storytelling doesn't keep me very engaged. With "Andor", we get a behind-the-scenes peak that's more akin to The Wire (2002) than any previous SW iteration. Until now, I didn't know this was exactly what I wanted.

Writing and production that respects the story
davispj-212 October 2022
This episode of Andor, like the others in this series, delivers because it shows the writers and rest of the production team actually care about respecting the story and characters. A far cry from some of Disney's recent Star Wars dribble. Obviously Kathleen has been kept far away from this and is present in name only.

This show is building nicely and this episode displayed an eye watering contrast between the celestial event in the sky and the harsh Emperial oppression on the ground. The senate scene at the end was also a chilling reminder of the apathy of those in power to represent the people they are elected to represent.

Hopefully the rest of the season continues in this gritty, character developed fashion.

A visual masterpiece with stakes and tension!
and_mikkelsen16 November 2022
Finally not only Andor, but Disney Star Wars delivers, since The Mandalorian!! This episode was perfect from beginning to end! The visuals were amazing, and might be sone of the most beatifull we have seen in Star Wars!

You could feel the tension and there were actual tension cause you never knew the outcome OR if everyone would survive! The pay off was excellent thanks to some great build up in the previous episodes! Some may call them filler or boring, but without them, this episode would not be nearly as good!

This should be a lesson to future Disney+ shows to actually take time to build up the story and characters, instead of just rush-in spectacle and climax!

Near perfect testament to passionate storytelling
sevskirita13 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This may become the most consistently well executed Star Wars project.

This episode, like episode 3, illustrates yet again that patience and sticking with this show through its slower moments will be paid off.

The story starts off really well with illustrating just how out of their comfort zone are protagonists are for the sake of striking a serious blow to the Empire. Nemiks talking about the nerves, and Vel almost crumbling under pressure added so much to this. There are many other small moments that add so much as well, like the exchange between Vel and Cinta or Gorne and the Imp.

These little touches, the insane effects, and the dedication to consequences really elevate an already well executed episode. Those, and the end going with Skeen being just a greedy guy and Nemiks dying really drove home the uniqueness of this story and made this episode standout from being just a well executed generic story.

9-9.5/10. My only qualm is I didn't feel quite like I was invested enough in each of the character deaths (particularly Nemiks) as the writers might've been shooting for. Don't get me wrong, it's no Wade from Kenobi and I did actually care, but I wasn't tearing up or anything over it, so maybe there could've been a tad more scenes put into developing these characters in the prior episodes.

Another Episode, Another Very Happy Star Wars Fan
mitchymoo-7691912 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
To say the least, this series has blown me away. The cinematography, the acting and scripting, storywork and VFX have all been above average. But this episode took all that, and made it even better.

Episode 6 of Andor delivers exactly what you would expect, with amazing visuals and effects, continued stellar acting from Diego Luna and the rest of the cast, and a thought out and well done mission/action sequence.

But what stood out the most was how little of the Disney treatment has been given to this show. Although we didn't see decapitations and blood as we would see in the likes of HBOs House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, Andor is not afraid to kill off central characters and put the rest in morally tough positions. I love the direction that this show is heading in and the more adult take on Star Wars and cannot wait to see what follows.

Phenomenal... everyone should watch this
conshb15 October 2022
One of the most tense and exciting experiences I've ever had watching Star Wars. Delivers flawlessly on the promise of a gritty, mature spy thriller series. It's also only this good because of the excellent worldbuilding, character development and stakes established by the previous dialogue-driven episodes, which is something I think gets overlooked. Action-packed episodes like this only hit as hard as they do because they are painstakingly built up to by other episodes.

Star Wars TV has rarely been this good before. And I'm confident it'll be this good again, because Andor season 1 isn't over yet. What a godsend of a show.

An absolutely breathtaking Star Wars episode.
frankiesilver-918366 November 2022
We finally have our huge Aldhani heist episode and it's just as fantastic as its build-up made audiences expect it to be.

They continue to expand on the personalities of the rebel group right up until the action starts. I like how Tamaryn is a former stormtrooper. This was my favorite thing about Finn's character, so it's nice to see the idea used again.

The music builds up the anxiety of this plan so well. The heist is executed brilliantly, from the stress of Nemik being placed at gunpoint to the rush to move the payroll, the fight before liftoff, and the anticipation of the Eye by the natives.

The Eye itself is downright one of the most beautiful visual pieces in Star Wars history. The escape scene is amazing and makes the episode feel like it has a movie-level budget. Easily one of the coolest Star Wars moments ever.

Finally, they didn't hold back on the level of sacrifice the rebels faced for this insane plan. The deaths are super sad, though they're exactly what I predicted.

Skeen turning on them was such a depressing moment. It made perfect sense but completely caught me off guard because of how he gained Cassian's respect last episode.

Still, despite the melancholiness, ending with Luthen's pure joy was a nice reminder that this was a win for the rebellion.

Really, this was perfect Star Wars. There's not much more to be said.

Superb from start to finish.
coolguyjames_nz12 October 2022
We are at the halfway point now in this series, but this episode almost felt like a finale. It is a masterfully directed, brilliantly paced, all suspense and all action episode. The runtime is extended to 53 minutes as it's the climactic conclusion to what has been building for the last two episodes and it was definitely worth it. Everything about this feels like a proper gritty grounded Star Wars espionage thriller. That's what they are trying to achieve and they nail it. The script is top notch, the performances are all brilliant. The music and scores fit the show perfectly and overall I have been extremely impressed.

A very minor complaint I would have overviewing the series so far is that it's lacking some of the classic Star Wars themes and tones in the score. Another very minor complaint is just the lack of Alien species, but since this all mainly focused on the empire so that's understandable.

Overall I'm loving this show, it contains superb set up and character building that all comes together and makes enjoyable logical sense.

Unlike TBOBF and OBIWAN, which seemed more focused on fan service and silly gimmicks, they ended up being complete and utter nonsensical, illogical garbage that tainted a lot of beloved characters existences in the SW universe. Long may they continue to make shows more similar to Andor and less like it's predecessors.

This Episode: 9/10 Andor so far: 8.5/10.

It came, It promised, It delivered
Fireoil13 October 2022
What i just witnessed is maybe one of the greatest piece of Star Wars show in history.

A cinematic experience for a TV

The Andor series set up the pace, the character and everything leads up to this épisode. For those who think there wasn't action. There will be serve there.

We were already settled down on this planet, habitant, lore and plan for the attack. The plot, the actors, the music, the landscapes. From beginning to the end, i was at the edge of my seat.

We had every info possible, without the surprises that made that episode even greater. From the previous episodes, we had enough time to get attached to characters et hopes for this one.

I was expected nothing very special

that show restaured my faith in Starwars, Disney.

What a masterpiece !
