Scream VI (2023)

Scraping the barrel with this one
9 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
They are really scraping the barrel with this one.

Nothing really original, just rehashed old movies brought in to try and jazz the storyline up.

Maybe it really is a good thing that Neve was not in this one because it just seemed empty, kind of like Scream 4 but perhaps because it was not based in the same town as the previous movies.

Same old with an even cheesier ending, even the bad guys didn't do anything special, just bad guys with an extreme anger towards the two main characters

Please no more but if there is one more then please for the almighty love of sanity will you please kill Gail.

...and the purpose of this movie was?
28 January 2023
The storyline is mediocre at best, the acting was hardly astonishing and it was just an old borefest that began so absurd and ended so abruptly.

I suggest you all to save your money and bypass this horror of a movie (pardon the pun)

An AI starts to mother a child after her parents die in a car crash yet somehow she survives and then the AI goes mad and kills people.

Nothing amazing here and certainly not the best movie and will be forgotten very soon.

There was not one character I liked and I honestly was hoping that Megan would actually kill the kid for being an annoying self centred brat.

Moonfall (2022)

Not the best disaster movie.
9 February 2022
As with nearly all disaster movies you have to take them with a pinch of salt as they have all their fair share of cheese for example 'The Core' 'Day After Tomorrow' and so on.

However... I am not here to complain over the mass cheese that is the AI CGI Tremor (Tremors being the 90s cult classic) that is floating in space trying to kill everyone.

I am here to complain over the total lack of continuity, realism and general sensibilities of life and technology... It takes roughly 3 days for a spacecraft to travel to the moon from Earth, however in this movie it took less than a day! 😮 The reaching of the moon using the space shuttle is practically impossible because of the lack of Delta-V or total acceleration! 😮 The young lad who is leading everyone to safety gets wiped out by a huge tree trunk however he walks away without a scratch or bit of blood? 😳

Good to see on the big screen but no where near does it make the list of great disaster movies.

TOO MUCH CGI and not enough story or development.

The Abyss (1989)

An absolute masterpiece, deep and meaningful!
2 May 2021
32 years later and still this movie never gets old. An absolute gem of a movie that belongs in the cult classic pile of masterpiece film making.

I can not understand why people have a hard time understanding the basis and purpose of this film.

A message to the below user review of davyd.

Why did the aliens kill all humans on the sub? Because they were going to contribute to the deaths of hundreds if not thousands of people!

Why did we not see many aliens? Because this movie wasn't just about alien life, it's a political message that is delivered subtly to the viewers to make us aware of what we are doing to the world, if you want aliens go watch aliens, if you want something deep and meaningful then the abyss is it!

Like J. Robert Oppenheimer said, I have become death, the destroyer of worlds and this movie is about the struggle to come to terms with this by showing the human interaction with one another from war loving soldiers to innocent civilians whom all onboard the vessel have been caught up in a web of lies and have become scapegoats to continue killing.

To quote a line from the movie " We all see what we want to see... Coffey looks and he sees Russians, he sees hate and fear. Bud, you have to look with better eyes than that.

This is not just a movie about alien life or mindless action, you have to look with better eyes than that to see the big picture and the message which is portrayed and a message that will stand the test of time even in a hundred years time, even if we ever at one point experience world peace.

We have become death and we are the destroyer of worlds!

Had potential then lost it!
28 April 2021
I had high hopes for this but soon lost the hopes about a quarter way into the movie.

The story did have potential but the lack of budget and intelligent thinking and creativity behind the story telling let it down.

I absolutely love low budget independent movies if they are done properly and this wasn't and the fact that they somehow integrated an idea to spin the spaceship at an incredible rate so they can get around the zero gravity of space was beyond a joke (Even though scientifically it is possible but not with our current technology) so all movie they are just walking around which obviously saves on the budget.

There was no establishing shot of the rocket as they went into space and the commander all movie long is talking to mission control back on Earth but to save budget she is portrayed as talking to herself over an earpiece and we never see the people she is supposedly talking to.

Daniel Dae Kim is the saving grace of this movie, I would give it 10 stars just for him but the movie gets 3.

Mortal Kombat (2021)

Mortal Kombat lost it's Kombat!
24 April 2021
A+ for nostalgia efforts but the biggest gripe for me is that there is no tournament!

Mortal Kombat is a tournament, there is no tournament!!!

Lord Raiden interrupts the pre tournament shenanigans and says to Shang Tsung "It is forbidden to claim victory until the tournament begins" The tournament never began and the rest of the movie is just the continuation of that interruption and yet still no tournament so really the whole movie is just based on that, at least the original 90s movie had a tournament.

I really do hope if we get to see a sequel that the tournament does actually begin and the story gets back on track.

Good fight scenes and acting nonetheless but the worst character for me was Kano, his witty banter soon wore thin and became rather an annoyance rather than funny especially so when he gets his butt kicked 3 time.

Hoping for a 2nd movie but hope it's better than this one.

Love it!! Very enjoyable!! Ignore the racist comments about Arthur.
25 July 2020
Who cares about the actor being black and playing King Arthur. Honestly is that all people are stuck on?

King Arthur is a myth and folklore and no evidence exists to suggest he ever existed let alone the colour of his skin or origin! So a person of English origin can't be black now? They have to be White English? Quite saddening. If you have to review a title and be stuck on his skin colour then you are nothing short of racist!

Enjoy the show for what it is! A myth! A folklore! Great acting and a fairytale you read as a child comes alive with amazing tv graphics and stunning visuals from trees coming alive to magical powers.

The Hunted (2003)

Pointless, contrived and no credibility.
22 February 2020
The only great thing about this movie is the abundance of stunning scenery and that is all. A trained assassin has nightmares and goes on the run killing civilians, police and FBI in the process! that is it! The story is pretty much non existent.

Everything is so contrived and set up so that L.T. Bonham (Tommy Lee Jones) can track Aaron Hallam (Benicio Del Toro) to a point where Bonham is no more than a couple of a hundred yards within Hallam's vicinity at all times while on the run. Hallam (Benicio Del Toro) could have gone anywhere in the city yet Bonham knows exactly which road, which street, which field, Hallam is going to by judging one single footprint in a field after escaping the sewers. Somehow by telekinesis Tommy's character follows Benicio to the exact same forest after floating down a river and by sheer amazement Bonham finds a tripwire that just so happens to been set by Hallam...

COME ON! thousands of trees and he finds this very one within a matter of minutes????

Then somehow Bonham gets hit in the leg and falls into a noose of rope that attaches to his leg and just so happens he doesn't miss this??????

COME ON! A massive forest and Bonham just happens to step on a rope trap the size of a dinner plate that just so happens to send him dangling?????

Bonham floats down the river after freeing himself and out of all the countless rocks he climbs on guess who is waiting for him? Hallam!!!!!!!

What did the story achieve? NOTHING! A shame because this had the hallmarks of a good fugitive like movie but fails miserably.

Very good, I do not know why such hate
17 September 2019
It's light hearted entertainment with undertones of psychological disturbances.

I love it and probably a reason why I love Siberia too which is very much like this. It's a Netflix series with probably not much budget so people are expecting a Lost scenario which to be honest Lost became lost after the 3rd season.

Love it for what it is, the fact that its a B rated tv show, good acting and I just love these scenarios of survival.

If I Stay (2014)

Death... a metaphor for life.
17 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of those movies where each viewer will take away a different emotion than someone else. Life can be cruel, upsetting though it can bring you joy and happiness... this movie tries to depict all emotions that life can throw at you... your first love, true happiness that your heart doesn't want to stop beating but knowing it will as you pursue your life and passion that's the hardest battle.

The real question as I am sure a lot of people were thinking it... Do she want to wake up from her coma knowing her family is dead and she has to deal with the pain, agony and anguish or does she give up and die just like her main choice in the movie... does she follow her dreams knowing it will tear her apart or does she stay knowing it will also tear her apart. Such as death as so in life.

Anna (II) (2019)

A touch of Nikita with a hint of the assassin
11 July 2019
I do not know what's with the hatred towards this film. Yeh okay the storyline is perhaps not as in depth as Leon or Nikita but that's needless to say that it doesn't have depth because it does. The character development is brilliant as Anna the main character develops for us to form a relationship with (whether you like her or not) The in-depth story about her past is exceptional and just enough without leading astray. Twists and turns I was not expecting as you delve into the story. Perhaps a gripe but that's with nearly all Hollywood movies is that why chose a British actress for a KGB operative? Though she seems to befit the character really well. Cillian Murphy and Sasha Luss make the movie just that extra special with amazing talent and script.

The choreography is just stunning and pure perfection and should receive an award just on this alone. Sasha Luss performs exquisitely as every tiny detail comes to life to make you believe she is a true assassin.

Go see the movie. Whether you like it or don't the acting is above and beyond and the choreography is a work of art.

Stunning Sci-Fi
12 January 2019
I have loved this TV show ever since it has been released and even in 2019 it is still remarkable.

Yes it is Sci-Fi sometimes so therefor some of the scientific stories are not always going to be 100% correct you have to understand this and only then will you enjoy it for what it is.

The acting is brilliant as I have always liked Peter Outerbridge who plays the tough and hard David the main PHD scientist at NORBAC. A very underrated TV show that really didn't get the appraisal that it deserved probably because it is Canadian and I never heard of it till I found the season 1 box in my local supermarket in England back in 2006 as I have always loved science so I thought i'd take a risk and buy it... a risk well deserved.

It really is a show that makes you think.. What if we as humans went too far? What if we dug up a body in the permafrost that containted Spanish flu and somehow entered the food chain of wild animals then passed onto us... What if! and as Sci-fi we can enter this world and speculate very much like Jurassic Park as we all know the story of the mosquito DNA from amber was used and mixed with DNA of frogs to create dinosaurs.

Take the show for what it is and enjoy this masterpeice.

A promising story but fails to impress.
31 December 2018
Like others I am sure I was so excited to see what looked like a great period movie according to the trailer but after watching I was left with dissatisfaction and disappointment.

This film had everything, great people, magnificent clothes and a promising storyline but this is all ruined by the use of wide angle photography that really doesn't befit for the time period nor does the annoying music that drowns out important scenes.

A two hour film wasted and what could have been a masterpiece but in turn is let down by an empty story that goes nowhere and the abrupt ending proves this.. I guess the director ran out of ideas and thought "enough I am bored now" A real shame!

Jason Bourne (I) (2016)
1 out of 10 also feel robbed because the trailers are misleading and things are removed from the movie.
28 July 2016
I admit I expected high for this movie but came out with low feelings and opinions. The story line is weak. Yes I understand where the producers were heading with the death of Bourne's father but the story dragged on with no real explanation and realism, a pretty poor story line which could have been easily thought of in one night. The acting is weak from all cast except Jason Bourne himself but I feel Tommy Lee Jones was castes badly for this role.. It needed an energetic almost blood thirty character like Noah Vosan from Bourne Ultimatum. Alicia Vikander also not the perfect actress for the movie as she is castes wrong again as an mid to late 20s chief operative.

Anyone else notice the differences from the trailers to the actual movie? No shotgun scene from the car in Las Vegas, no Nicki Parsons saying "remembering everything doesn't mean you know everything" and other scenes which are not shown in the movie. Seriously? the movie producers and director can do this to us as paying viewers?

I feel robbed

The Divide (2011)

Excellent!
29 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
As a fan of Michael Biehn I was so excited to finally sit down and watch this. From the very first minute I knew I was hooked and the drama just kept keeping me to my seat, I didn't want it to end. This movie wasn't what I was thinking it was going to be, but the dark and rather disturbing side drew me further to liking it and now I have seen it I love it! Complete with the scary melodic soundtrack this makes for one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Though I only have one thing that MUST be done, a sequel! *SPOILER ALERT* At the end we see Eva escape from the fallout shelter and looking on the carnage in a suit and a bag of food, what happens? does she survive or die? does the world get better after a few years, what does Eva do now? I really feel a sequel needs to explain the story of Eva surviving to which this will make a damn brilliant franchise movie and not just a one off horror.

Please if you are reading this (Xavier Gens, Karl Mueller, Eron Sheean) make a sequel! please please follow this storyline.
