Not only my favorite western, but quite possibly my favorite film given my mood at the time. Whenever I get pissed off I watch this movie. Nothing releases more rage than watching oodles of violence and neon blood.

In my opinion, the funniest film ever made. Plus it doesn't hurt to have Marilyn Monroe in it. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis have great on screen chemistry and Billy Wilder's direction and writing are top shelf.

Sergio Leone's direction here is fantastic. Henry Fonda's performance is sensational. The script, editing,, cinematography and Ennio Morricone's score (my second favorite score ever) are captivating.

David Lean's direction here is remarkable and among the best of all time, in my opinion. Alec Guinness, Sessue Hayakawa, and William Holden give great performances as representatives of their respective cultures. The madness of war has never been more apparent on film.

Monument Valley has never looked more gorgeous. John Wayne gives, in my opinion, his finest performance. Truly an oscar worthy performance by Wayne. John Ford's direction and compositions are unbelievable. The shot of Ethan looking in disgust at the native assimilated white child at the cavalry camp is perhaps the most powerful single shot of Ford's directorial career.
